Well the inevitable happened... just weeks after buying it the treaded first SCRATCH... man was i depressed.../ pissed!!
The only good news was .. it was caused by me... or shall i say it didnt happen in a parking lot or anything..
I trace it back to driving home one dark night in the rain/wind.. I must have drove over a shard of metal or something.. I heard a "thump".. very faint as i had the excellent stereo system on high.. next morning saw the damn thing.. closer exam noticed other small scrap right under wheel edge.. then to top it off i found a small shard of metal sticking out of tire.. I took it to honda and they removed the piece of metal. luckily it didnt puncture the tire.. (strong tires by the way)..
The scratch is deep, my nail catching it so it can't be buffed out.. i am looking into getting it repaired/painted... i ve sought out a pro who sounds like he knows what he is talking about.. tells me it can be fixed like new.. we'll see...

It doesn't look like it broke thru the primer. That's one blessing.
Well, how's the anxiety level about the trunk imperfection now.
These things have a way of sorting themselves out.:sorry:
My last payment is this December, so I think of mine as a classic.
But I feel your pain, having also had to deal with road rash these last couple of years.

I am having all the luck eh...!!
The anxiety on the trunk thing has taken a back seat to this new problem.
In order to fix this thing right, buddy has to paint/blend right over to most of the door as well... man.. that means removing the inside panel to remove door handle so it can be taped off properly..
nothing is ever easy...:bawling:

If it's just a clearcoat issue, maybe have them wetsand and buff and see if you can live with it.
Repainting is always my last recourse.

soooo sorry!:sorry:
I know mine's coming too, & I dread it. The '02 got 3 (tiny dings) early on, before plates, then no more. The Pilot has a door chip from it's very first day out! And we noticed she's getting "road rash" on her hood. So much for the air/bug deflector! The '03 Accord hasn't had one yet, but I'm still under 2K & she gets babysat in parking lots still....until her plates arrive. The theory is once they have plates their just another car out there & the meanies in the world will leave her alone!

My problem (luck) with new vehicles has not been scratches but windhshield "stars" from rocks. I hate when you're driving along staying way back from trucks and out of the blue, WHACK! and then the inevitable chip in the windshield. Makes my heart sink for a bit. Luckily the technology for fixing these has come a long way.

I looked into buffing it etc.... toooo deep :bawling:
Next option would be to use touch up paint... using that method that was featured on this board.. and that is no gurantee.. because of the graphite colour the scratch may turn out darker..
From what i hear... lots of cars are repaired/painted etc from damage of shipping and voyage to the dealers..

I'm so sorry to see that...
Bought my car in February and a month later 'whap', nice big old chip in my hood from a flying rock. A month later, ‘whap’ again, chipped windshield. Have to love those spring Nebraska roads when they put sand down over the snow/ice. Touch up looks okay, but I can still tell.
Also ran into a curb (totally my fault), which took the paint on the bottom part of the front of the car down to the black primer(?). Oh well, as the airlines tell you when your luggage gets beat up "sir, the luggage is to protect the contents, not the luggage itself."

I was on base sitting in my car in an angle parking space. guy comes from the wrong direction and tries to make the turn, I put my hand out the window to tell him to stop and he bumped me. he made like a whoops face and pretty much blew it off. Luckily it only hit the trim and Honda replaced it for free, while I charged the guy $75

Ahhh nothing like a battle scar to ease the new car anxiety. As long as it's not a major injury. Then you can settle down to enjoy the utilility and dependability of your transportation conveyance.
So What????????

I have you all beat. 14 miles after delivery I hit a curb with my right front wheel and scratched the wheel cover slightly. My new car anxiety was gone real quick..Glad I am saving for new wheels and tires. :headbash:

If the paint is too dark you can try blending some in a little container with white or silver touch-up paint to get a good match. Just remember to apply the paint to a small swatch of white plastic or something and hold it up to the car to see if it matches before applying to the vehicle. I did this for a few scratches in a silver car and got good results. Trying to match the color took a few tries but it wasn't that hard.
Then you can go over it with Lanka Blob Elminator and it should look pretty good.

Same thing here, but not noticeable unless looking under the car. I'm thinking my scratch is thru the primer and into the black plastic base material. At least it won't rust.
