:lmao: when one cannot concentrate on work, what do you do?? start working on getting a new car.

started yesterday. got down to $1,000 off msrp for an 06 6 speed tsx.

this morning, got down to 27,005.

now, just before lunch, i'm down to 26,900.00.

all plus tax, title, license.

:lmao:

i get a kick out of pitting dealer against dealer.

it's amusing.

and i'm pitting dealers from Wisconsin through Pennsylvania against each other. talk about funny. :lmao:

i'm only doing a modified version of what i did to get the accord. then i sent a spreadsheet showing the max that i was willing to pay and exactly how it all broke down. :lmao:

i haven't gone that far yet on the tsx.

it's funny how dealerships have their rock bottom price UNTIL they find out that another dealership knocked another $500 off the price. all the sudden they can atleast match that price. usually they beat it by another $250 or so. :lmao:

funny again!! just looked at the quote i had gotten on the 05 black speed tsx DEMO with almost 900 miles on it.... $26,399. haha, i can get brand new for $26,900. BOTh are +ttl.

:lmao:

is brand new worth $501?? um, heck yeah.

If you don't want to haggle, carsdirect.com has 05's for $26,100. I haven't seen 06's on their site yet.

Of course haggling is fun to some people, but not to me... :lmao:

And an 06 MDX touring with navi and DVD for $39,624.... hmmmmmmmm

carsdirect doesn't always deal in every area and their price varies by location you type in even. also amusing to see.

the 06's gain way too much stuff to worry about getting an 05 for 26,100. that's only 800 less than the lowest 06 quote. and i'm only like 24 hours into this funny thing. :lmao: and all i've done is email. :lmao:

Yep, but in my area I've had good success with them. I got my 04 EX with navi in november 03 though them and paid $1200 less than MSRP.

Lately they were selling the hybrid for $100-$200 over invoice, which is pretty good. Too bad I didn't want a hybrid.

Of course like you said it varies by market, but luckily my market is pretty competitive.

And yes, you do get a good price, but the only thing is that sometimes they make you go out of your way. But that's not a problem since I will never buy a car from any dealer in New York City. Not even from the 'burbs like long island or westchester. I am afraid of those guys. I'll happily buy from dealers in NJ, CT or PA. Also gives me a good excuse to go on a road trip.

with my accord, i ended up getting a better price than carsdirect was giving me. i think it was beat by about $700. but carsdirect at the time didn't have any direct deals for the pittsburgh area, just the "target price".

looking at the tsx a week or so ago, the 05 was thesame situation for both pittsburgh and madison. and their info for the price was not very good at the time! less than $1000 off msrp for an 05!!

hehe, but i'm down to $1600 off msrp of an 06without doing harldy anything yet.... :lmao:

EXLNavi

I don't trust target prices, so much, because they're usually close to MSRP.

The target price I'm seeing for the TSX in Pittsburgh is higher than what I saw for the direct deals on the TSX, over $1000!

Target price in Madison, WI is $27,800... wow, that's steep!!

Too bad they didn't do direct deals there.

for amusement purposes....

acura posted the pricing and details of the 2006 tsx yesterday (may have been a day or so earlier since i don't check every single day...)

anyway, do you know how many dealerships say they have no clue what the pricing is on the 2006????? even as of late yesterday/early today???

it's comical. every time i get that answer, i tell them the price and that it is on acura's site. :screwy:

one place wants me to buy an 05 automatic tsx instead. no wonder they can't seem to "find" the pricing for a 2006 6speed.

anysia
11-10-2005, 10:39 AM
yes target prices can be alot more than buy direct prices. when i bought my accord, i searched for areas where they did have buy direct and the prices did not vary much from the target price at the time in pitt. and the target price lined up close to the spreadsheet i ahd worked out via carbuyingtips.com.

unfortunately when the area does not have a buy direct price on carsdirect, it is kinda hard to use a buy direct price to negotiate with dealerships... :screwy:

doesnt matter anyway because i have a feeling that pitting dealer against dealer i may be able to get below the buydriect prices in the regions that have buydirect available.....

EXLNavi
11-10-2005, 10:39 AM
Yep. It's a game. They want to see how many suckers they can get by not revealing the real price.

Once the price hits the web all bets are off... Smart buyers won't get the wool pulled over them.

i keep tabs on things and while i know i wont get the same calibur of deal on an acura as i did on the accord, i know i dont have to pay sticker. at one point, i was getting THAT line!!!! um, they're going to be new cars and in demand when they hit the lot. so you'll probably be paying about msrp.

um NO.

sorry, not going to be THAT person!!!! :screwy:

My best quote just emailing the local dealers on a Sienna was 23,988. I got it down to 23,654. CarsDirect shows me $24,983. What kinda BS is that?! What a place for suckers, I never even set foot into a showroom and got 23,988 over email...come on it's not THAT hard.

I guess It all depends on your area. In my area, carsdirect rules.

Bear in mind that the best prices are direct prices, NOT their "target price" which is closer to MSRP.

A sienna in carsdirect in my zipcode -
2006 Toyota Sienna 4dr Front-wheel Drive Passenger Van CE - 22,596

In my aunt's zipcode (95901, Marysville CA) - 23,348

In zipcode 90036 - 21,832(CE) or 23,203 (LE) Take $300 more off if you finance through carsdirect.

CarsDirect can be for suckers, but it can also be a good tool. You don't just go and get from carsdirect, you shop around. Often carsdirect has the best price, if not you just look elsewhere.

I did check prices in Daly City, CA, and the prices there on CarsDirect seem to be unusually high.

I didn't say CarsDirect was a fix-all but it can be a good tool to use when buying a car.

It's certainly not a "place for suckers" like you claim it to be.

They do have a low price guarantee anyway, so if you find a lower price, get a quote from the dealer and they'll refund the difference.

i was quoted 15k back in january at a honda dealership. 13something k over the summer at another honda dealership. and so far the highest i have gotten for mine trade in while looking for the lowest tsx price has been 13-14k.
