i was wondering if there was some way that i could change all the lights in the interior to a specific colour, specifically, red... would i have to tear apart the dash, get to where all the leds are, and ten replace them all with red leds or something? or could i just get it done somewhere? if there's a do-it-yourself alternative anyone knows of, i'd be happy to do it.

Mickey,

If you're talking about the lights in the doors & ceiling, they are bulbs. And I'm sure there's somewhere that sells them in different colors. You'd need to know the type each one is & replace it with the same volt/amp. (This would be the easier ones to replace & more noticable)

In the dash there are a bunch of tiny LED types. The dash would need to be removed & each light replaced by the same kind. The LED's can probably be purchased at somewhere such as Radio Shack. You'd be wise to find a Honda manual on your car for instructions. The lights are in a circut board that is pretty delicate. There are some bulb types in the dash too. You may be able to call a parts dept. & get the info of exactly what each of them are before tearing anything up. Then you could see about finding replacements before you have your car apart. Then replace them all at once.

Does this help??

If you want this done for you, I'd suggest calling around at custom shops. The same kind that do the other kinds of body lighting. Ask them if it's possible & get quotes.

:)

THANKS A LOT for the help princess, the work itself sounds like a precise kind of work, and delicate manuevers isn't my forte, seeing as how my solution to everything is kicking.

Not a good method for dash removal!

There's all those screws & clips:bawling:

OUCH!!

Look in the gallery under "not for the squeemish" & see what a Pilot looks like just installing a camera!:D

Some of the clips come in a "line" of 6 or so. At least that's the way "ive seen the ones for keeping the plastic connected (on the '86 Accord) near the wipers under the hood.

Is your '99 a 4 or 6 cylinder? There wasn't as many 6's then. We've had 2 in the family, '94 & '95, both 4's. Both that light green/bluish color. The only real difference between the two was one was an auto & one a 5 speed. The bodies were the same '94-'99. I think they had poor visibility or something because nearly all I've seen have a crease in the back door on the passenger side!

my car is a dark emerald pearl 5 speed sedan, I4

i plan to later get it painted sexy nighthawk black and change the interior to match the exterior... i'm also going to put red trim inside somehow, which is why i wanted to know how to change the lights inside my car to red...

i wish i had a v6... sometimes when i'm angry, i floor it and my car goes no where... :( it just makes me more mad that it's slow to take off like a rocket...

There are some peppy 4's out there!

I had an '82 Accord sedan that had a little extra bore to the jets in the carb. It outran the other '82's I came across.
Our youngest daughter got that one later & loved the extra boost. It did cost her a few speeding tickets though!

We're on our second V6 & now I doubt if I could go back. Go test drive V6 '03 or '04 Accord. It's a different world!

As they say at Disneyland, "partners, hang on to your hats & glasses, 'cuz this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"

:)

I almost got my '03 in the nighthawk. It's an awsome color! I wanted a gray interior & they had tan. The eternal blue takes on different colors in different lighting too.

I'll be posting new pictures over the next day or so.

right now, my car is completely stock with the exception of the aftermarket pedals if you want to count those... (the normal clutch pedal is too small, my foot kept slipping off of it)

the mods i have planned in the near future are:

JDM headlights
injen cold-air intake
greddy evo exhaust or an rs-r exmag if it'll fit on my model
and some 16 or 17 inch oem rims if i can find any for my model

my full list of mods:

1 inch drop
HIDs
projector headlights
oem spoiler
nighthawk black paint job

i'm not big on the mods, i just want a nice car that won't turn too many heads but'll be something nice to look at.

Mickey,

I'd check ebay when it's time for rim shopping. I've seen lots of OEM on there.

I think you can still get the spoiler from Honda. We put one on an '86 in '95. They only had red, we needed dark gray. It was actually for an '89. That meant the 3rd light was just slightly different shape than it would have been in for '86. We painted just the spoiler before the install & made sure it also had clear coat on it. Matched perfect!

I know nearly nothing about after market stuff. We do our best to stay with Honda. It sometimes costs more, but to us it's worth it. Like my new rims. I could have paid a third for ones that had the same look. I wanted Honda. Unlike most they are balanced, "hub centric". That means over time the holes won't get that elongated thing going on. Since I plan to keep this one a while, that's important to me.

Anyway, have fun with your car! Post pictures in the gallery as you do the changes!
