If so, what speed should i not exceed? Thanks ezshift5 11-22-2005, 08:17 AM I just bought a 05 Accord coupe ex v6 Thanks ....FWIW, here are the notes I jotted down (on the reverse side of a Honda Owner Link Registration Card) when I took deliv of my coupe this summer......... ..w/ Ilene 7-24-05 1. 0 cruise for 1,000 2. 2 master Keys; 1 valet 3. 7500 oil chg 4. Gas Cap (loose) = Ck engine lite 5. < 3500 RPM 6. Honda telephone/poss mail....give me "5" all the best, ez......... Thooks 11-22-2005, 10:15 AM I'd keep it under 4,000 rpms (which should be no problem), and although I used cruise, I did alter the speed every 15 minutes or so (had a 200 mile drive home from the dealer.) I wouldn't worry about using cruise-how do you think these idiots drive when they transfer new cars from dealer to dealer? Also, I changed my oil a little early, I think I'd leave it in for about 1500-2000 miles. It is special break-in oil. I'd dump the oil after about 1700 miles twice after that, and go with synthetic after that if you wish. Stay off the hard stops, no hard starts, either. I may look at dumping the transmission fluid after 5-7,000 miles also. imagohp 11-22-2005, 06:23 PM Thanks you guys pierrep99 11-30-2005, 08:19 PM I got mine a few months ago and I asked that question at the dealer. He explained the break in period does not have a speed limit like other makes. He just said no full throttle starts and watch the RPM's. The previous post is correct, I was told to stay under 4000 RPM's. stiller fan 11-30-2005, 10:14 PM from what i recall, the break-in oil is supposed to stay in for 5000 miles, then switched out..... dads-car 12-01-2005, 12:41 AM from what i recall, the break-in oil is supposed to stay in for 5000 miles, then switched out..... On our '05 the first service is due at 10,000km (6000mi). We got our car in early Sep and it hasin't been to the dealer yet. frooky 12-02-2005, 03:25 PM Ok you guys are scaring me. I thought we weren't supposed to take our cars in until 7,500 miles? That's what the dealer and the manual said. Nothing about break-in oil. Jonekm 12-02-2005, 03:30 PM I was told (by my dealer) to change my oil between 5000 and 10000 miles. I went 7000 before I changed my oil for the first time. BenjiBoy650 12-02-2005, 03:32 PM Your cars aren't picky. Whether you change them at 1000 or 10000, I think in the end they'll still outlast your patience before trading for another car. Anywhere between 3000-7500 is perfectly fine. Below that, your engine might not break in AS WELL, after that you might get a LITTLE bit of extra wear. Like I said, you won't notice it. frooky 12-02-2005, 03:37 PM SHWEW! InAccord 12-02-2005, 06:30 PM Frooky, how did you set up a lease for 18K mi per year? Do you remember the cost vs the traditional 12K? Thx Thooks 12-03-2005, 07:11 AM You pre-pay for the miles when you lease.. It's cheaper. For example, let's say they say it's $.15 per mile over 36,000 miles on a 36 month lease. But you can pre-pay at $.08 per mile. So you buy an additional 18,000 miles. Either way, they are reaming you. If you pre-pay, you are giving someone money and getting no interest. If you don't, you are paying through the nose at the end. Plus, you have nothing to show for your 36 lease payments. frooky 12-03-2005, 08:52 AM Frooky, how did you set up a lease for 18K mi per year? Do you remember the cost vs the traditional 12K? Thx Well you can figure out for yourself what a 12K mi per year lease is at Honda's website. Honda does $0.10/mile pre-paid miles and $0.15/mile at the end of the lease. So my monthly payment is $414 which to me is worth it. My previous car was a Nissan Altima that I bought brand new in 2002 with a 5 year loan at $407/month. I was tired of that car at 3 years and I was upside down in my loan. I desperately wanted to buy a new car but I didn't want to be in the same situation again 3 years from now (I get tired of cars very quickly). My Honda dealer questioned why I wasn't leasing my vehicles and showed me how Hondas retain their value and outlined the finer points of the Honda Lease Program and I was sold. It just makes sense for someone like me who has always had a car payment and always budgets for one and likes new cars every couple of years. The important thing to remember when agreeing to a lease contract is to try and get them to lower the purchase price of the vehicle. I didn't know you could do that so I ended up leasing the car at full MSRP. But even so, to me this car is worth $400/month so I don't care. The only thing that chaps my ass is that I still have to pay personal property tax on the vehicle even though I don't technically own it. I certainly didn't pay personal property tax when I was leasing an apartment so it doesn't make sense to me at all. But whatever. frooky 12-03-2005, 09:06 AM Holy crap! I just went on Honda's website and did a 12,000 mi/year lease and it was $480 a month! I guess I didn't do too bad after all. I think my MSRP was about $1500 less tho so that could be part of it. |
