new headlights

Has anyone replaced their headlights with aftermarket ones. I hear the Sylvania Silverstars are the brightest out right now. I am tempted to try them from all the rants and raves, but on my previous car the wire harness melted. Maybe because of cheap bulbs, I dont know. I might give them a try

I have heard that since they run hotter, they do not last as long as standard bulbs.

I tried Sylvania's on my CR-V and they were ok, I didn't notice they were a whole lot brighter than stock, but I was coming from some aftermarket lights that were even brighter I guess, so I went back to the other ones.

SilverStar does run a lot brighter than stock bulb. But it is costing $20 each (in Advance Auto Part Store) and could only last up to a year (depends how much you drive during the night time).
