I think I am going to put some 6.5's in my front doors. I have searched the forums and have one question: How much space is there between the speaker grill itself and the door face? From what I understand, it's a shallow fit, but using spacer-mounts you can use a deeper speaker without hitting the glass. How deep can you go?

I dont really understand your questoin, but I don't really see a problem with 6-1/2" hitting the glass with or without spacers. I installed the Infinity Kappa 63.7i last week using the brackets from crutchfield. I drilled 3 holes in each door after marking down where the factory speaker position was so the new speakers would fit into the factory grill. I had to trim the insides of the factory grill/door panel for the speakers to fit far enough so the door panel clips would clip on. It's still a really tight fit however, but it fits and you can't tell once you put everything back together.

It was my first time doing anything like this or even drilling. Took about 2 hours to figure things out and install everything. Oh yeah, crutchfield said the 63.7i's don't fit in the accord. With only slight modifications, I got them to fit.

Good luck with your install and ask if you have any more questions.\

Enzo can you please describe what was involved in trimming the factory grills/door panels? I have some Kappas inbound and am trying to determine if I can do this myself or let the pros handle it.

Thanks in advance

Well, the inside of the door panel, where the speaker slot is, has a lot of excess plastic. I just used a dremel and simply trimmed off some of the excess plastic to make as much room as possible. I think you could get away with no trimming at all but it would be a tight fit and you'd probly have to force the clips on the door panel back in when reinstalling the door panel. I installed the speakers with the bracket from crutchfield, so make sure you have a bracket, or else you'd have to make your own, or cut into the metal in the door.
