I wanted to know if anyone knew if it was just a relay that is used for the DRL or is it a totally different setup? I wonder if we can just by the relay from Honda? Since I believe it is lower wattage going to the high beam?

On Sienna's, all ya gotta do is plug in a fuse to a specific empty slot and you have DRL's that they charge $1900 for in a package. Ain't that a kick in the head?

You should just go find all the empty slots and plug in fuses and see what happens :lmao:

I agree with benji. On my Passat, you just pulled the fuse.

High beam?

I thought the turn signals were used?

Oh, and I must try that fuse thing sometime!

Do the canada folks have the same type of DRL's as the 06 US accords? I know on my 96 I could have just brought $45 relay and voila DRL's and insurance discounts

you could buy my jdm stanley set and be really unique :naughty: it has a cool parking light/city light inside the main reflector

I think it's a separate module that's integrated in with something else.

I believe that princess posted something to that effect sometime ago.

The DRLs use high beams at reduced brightness.

Turn signal/parking light DRLs are found on mostly GM vehicles.

I highly doubt that just putting a fuse will enable DRL in Accords.

i wonder if pre-06 US accords are wired for DRLs. have to check the fuse/relay box when i get back. :D

Looks like it's more than just a relay. The relay's pin 3 connects to a control module.

Thanks for the observation I got so happy when I saw the terminal connector in the car that I figured it would just need a relay. I guess I will have to do more research to determing if our car had the module already or do I need to purchase that also.

How much are you going to save with the DRLs though? Is it really worth the hassle?

Your right, I won't save that much, but im more along the lines of it can be done. I have an 03 accord, with an 04 navi system, 04 TSX Side mirrors, 05 lighted steering wheel controls, and now im going with the semi 06 US/ 03+ CAN DRL module. I guess you can say im tryinng to get a little something from every year. Its either this or try to fit those LED taillights and we know that's really now worth the hassle :D

That's what they say, and that's what the insurance industry will try to tell you, but I've seen way too many people driving with DRLs at night, which means reduced brightness high beams with NO taillights.

Doesn't sound very safe to me.

not to mention no tailights when it rains or snows...... gets dangerous......

for those with 7th gens especially, what is the point anyways??? seriously, you have "auto off" headlights. just turn them on, leave them on, they'll shut off when you leave the car, why bother trying to create something the car doesn't have???????

older cars... just turn the headlights on, not too hard of a thing to do as far as I see it. :lmao:

agreed.... always have my lights on when it rains or snows, regardless of time of day....... safer that way, especially when the spray from other cars on the highway significantly reduces visibility......

I leave my parking lights on. Very useful in crowded parking lots to find your car without pushing panic.

Hard to legislate intelligence... people that can't turn on the headlights shouldn't have licences. Period.

...sorry guys, but I like 'em, my car came stock with them last year (Canadian 05 EX-L) my 96 Odyssey has them as does our (my son's now) 99 Acura 1.6EL...
...we've had them up here for years and they work very well - and as for those idiots who don't turn their lights on when it gets dark or the weather is really nasty, I see lots of older cars not equipped with DRL's running around with no lights at all, so my way of thinking goes that having some kind of light on is much preferable to nothing at all in the dark...as many of you have pointed out, you can't really idiot proof a car, if there's some way to screw up, they'll find it...

I like em too but I wasn't gonna spend $100 to retrofit them. My car has them auto off lamps, I suggest if you want DRL's just leave them on :)

JMHO, if you want something from 06 you should do a front bumper/grille conversion, me thinks those look nice.

I think DRL's are a good thing, and I usually like them. They are a waste for me now because even though I have the 2006 Accord and it has DRL I always have my headlights on when I am driving no matter what time it is because I like the look of my headlight on with the fog lights.

6th gen Canadian DRL module was ~$80-100 IIRC, in any case it didn't work when you plugged it into a USDM Car :dunno:

In some states, it's the law... When you need to use the wipers, the headlights must be on.

it's the law almost nationwide now.... PA has the law as well, but it's never enforced...... nto from i've seen.... then again, they will never pull me over for that (see above posts)......

well I see so many people driving in the rain with headlights off and wipers on. I know some people might not think of it when they first take off, but you would think after seeing 75% of other people with their lights on people would know to turn them on. On some major roads in NY there are signs saying it the law to turn on headlights with wipers.

Canada is different because most of Canada is to the north, where you get less daylight than us. So DRLs make sense in Canada.

However, I believe that in the US most auto manufacturers have implemented them wrongly. In summary -

- DRLs should NOT be headlights only. Taillights are just as important. Volvo is the only manufacturer I've seen that lights both headlights and taillights. There may be others, but I've seen them in volvos.

- DRLs should not use high beam lamps. They should be low beams at reduced brightness or separate marker lamps specifically for DRL use. High beams glare and present a safety hazard for people who use DRLs as nighttime lights.

- DRLs should not use HIDs.

- Lights should come on automatically with wipers (except for window washer). It's the law in most states in the US now.

- DRLs should not use turn signals or parking lights. They an easily be mistaken for turn signals if one bulb is blown. In fact in some states it is illegal to drive with parking lights. I think California is one of them but I am not sure. (are you driving around while parked?)

- No fog lights with DRLs. Too much glare!

There are several lighting laws in effect in many states. Lights+wipers is one of them. In PA I think there's also lights on in construction zones. I've seen it in parts of PA that I've visited (philly, lancaster, scranton, allentown).

Some people just don't know.

And from what I've seen, the law isn't enforced all that much either.

There's also lights on law while driving on a two lane undivided highway/ freeway (one lane going each direction). Another one that should be a law is lights on while driving on rural/ hilly areas. I'd do it anyway just for safety sake.
