Just about ready to finalize a deal on a 06 EX V6. However, dealer has some add-ons that I think are a tad pricey. For 400 dollars, they put pinstripping on it, mud flaps and trunk liner. I don't care for those things except the mud flaps would be nice to have. My question, does any one know about what price those flaps are? Would like all 4 and I'll install them myself.
Also, has anyone installed this before? Is it worth it? Our 02 Accord had the baloney beat out of it from rocks and road debris, just the hood. Bumper held up fairly well.

Thanks.

splash guards can be had for under $100. found them for $64 at h and a accessories. $400 seems crazy for those items combined...... :dunno:

Try to get them to either throw that stuff in for free (if you want those items) or not do it at all. You should at least be able to get them to include the mud guards. There are lots of places that you can buy them online for around $60.

my dealer includes the mud guards at no charge on every accord. and wheel locks on every car with aluminum wheels. shouldn't be hard to get them for free I wouldn't think...

my dealer told me splashguards $127 installed. you can buy them for $65 + S/H at www.collegehillshonda.com but then you would have to install the....but they are an easy install. Probably just would be easier to just have them do it. I got my dealer to install Wheel locks, fog lights, splash guards, auto day night mirror and trunk tray for $700 installed....but I had to argue with him a lot to get it...and even told him I wouldn't ever come back there. What he actually did was charge me $1164 for the items and lowered the price of my car $466 to make it $700 extra for the accessories.

They're about $65 shipped for all 4...

Installation shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Trunk liner is about $85 shipped
http://handa-accessories.com/accint06.html
Installation takes 1 minute.

Don't, I repeat, DON'T put pinstriping on the car!

I think you are the reason I fought with my dealer on this...he was trying to charge crazy prices for all 5 things I wanted to add. he wanted $128 for a trunk try (hell I can buy it cheaper online and there isn't an installation for it...you put it in the trunk. Anyway $127 for splash guards and $70 for wheel locks on a 2006 accord coupe EX-V6 with navi....I thought after spending $30K they need to give me a huge discount on everything I wanted or throw a few things in for free.

Wow! Thanks for all the input. When I first saw the pinstripe on the one they had in the lot, it just didn't sit well. Still don't. I emailed the dealer and said to make this deal happen, he'll have to find me a stock one on our agreed to price of 24995. I'm kind of expecting him to come back and make me an offer with that particular one. The pinstripe....don't know if it's sticker or painted on. I'll see what they come back with. Appreciate all the reply's. Get good feedback as I do on bobistheoilguy.com
thanks fellow Honda lovers!!!

Pinstriping is usually just a sticker. If they can't find another one exactly like the way you like it, just ask him to remove it since you're not going to pay $200 for some stickers. :)

Thanks.

It's already been said - don't let the dealer take advantage of you. Buy your accessories elsewhere and DIY. I got my flaps "tossed in the trunk" as part of my deal - took no time to install them. Tray came from Majestic Honda in RI - around $77.

Now to the real point of my eloquent reply - I'm getting a Clearshield installed next week on my 06. I did a bit of research and the consensus between many installers is that the 3M film has been less than optimal in the past, although they came up with a new formulation earlier this year. Apparently it would yellow, which would show up on all but dark colored cars. Xpel uses 3M film. Xpel is a company (one of many) who buy the bulk film and custom cut using a laser plotter, then resell to installers and the retail world. Clearshield film is made by Bakaert, who also makes window tint and a multitude of other products. Both of the local installers I spoke with prefer the Bakaert material.

Here's the clincher - the full kit from Clearshield costs about $250, plus the installer's fee. Xpel is lots more for the equivalent kit. The full kit does the bumper, hood, grille and mirrors. I'm also getting the headlights wrapped, door handle cups and possibly the rockers.

There you have it - my long-winded 2 cents. :blah:

Wow! Thanks for all the input. When I first saw the pinstripe on the one they had in the lot, it just didn't sit well. Still don't.
My dealer had to get my car from another dealer. It came with splash guards and pinstripes. I was not charged for the splash guards and they offered to remove the pinstripes, but I looked at it for a few days before I peeled them off myself.
I also stipulated no dealer badge and no front license bracket (no front tag in my state).
I also expressed an intention to buy a trunk liner from the internet and they price matched, so I got it on the spot.
EVERYTHING is negotiable - - but typically they have the advantage of a lot more experience and your best defense is to act like:
1. you don't care and don't need it now
2. price IS how they can earn your business
3. you need a GOOD reason not to buy elsewhere
4. there's no shortage of Accords if and when you decide to purchase

WHO is going to finalize the deal - - you or the dealer? YOU!
GOOD LUCK!

Nothing more lethal to a dealer then an educated customer. Good job on coming here and asking first. Its better to ask before the fact instead of after

...I highly recommend the trunk tray, we found out the hard way why its a good idea to have one in our Odyssey. We were out getting some groceries and when we got home noticed that one of the milk containers had developed a serious leak...we soaked up as much as we could, but a few days later the odor of rotting milk made it obvious we were going to have to get the back of the van steam cleaned.
...I also thank myself for the investment everytime I go to the plant nursery to get stuff for the garden, all I have to do is shake the dirt off instead of vacuuming the thing out.

ps. my 05 EX-L came with the splash guards, no charge was added, I checked.

cheers,

What a wealth of information. I thought about haggling with them for at least the mud flaps, but I got to thinking that I'd better not push my luck. They had come down off of the 25600 to match another dealers price of 24999. Actually they came down to 24995 and beat his price. They have done everthing I've asked and I don't want to spoil a good thing. I bought our current 02 EX V6 from them and even now, they are still hard to beat. I know I need to sound like my dad....it's YOUR money....but with all the different prices I searched along with all the other "invoices," I don't think they are making much money off of us. Manager did say he'll do what ever it takes to get our business, and true to form, he has.
Oh...has any one heard about the "silent warranty?" Wife went and test drove the Accord yesterday and the same dealer said that Honda has a 5 year, 60K factory warranty. I can't find it anywhere...I hope like he!! that he isn't pulling our leg. She said that the dealer said they are doing that to match the other manufacturers that have the 5 year, 100K warranty.

The reason I stuck with our dealer out here is that they have a 250,000 mile, I can't remember how many years (something similarly insane) warranty. On powertrain as long as you follow Honda's service schedule at the dealer. Read the fineprint, that covers parts, can't remember about labor. They made quite a fuss about it on TV too. Figured good price, since I haggle a lot and get free stuff, and the warranty can't hurt either :D

When I got my '03 LX sedan, I ordered the trunk tray, mud flaps, and front accord rubber floor mats from HondaAcuraworld.com for $120, I think, may have been a little more. The dealer is always gonna be crazy expensive.

Picked it up Saturday. They wouldn't budge on the mudflaps. Best they could do was 130. I told them I'll just get them off the net.

For the 06 Accords, the powertrain warranty got bumped to 5 years/60k miles. The bumper to bumper is still 3 years/36K miles. I saw the powertrain info in the warranty book when I picked up my 06 EX sedan with MT last Friday. I got it for $500 under invoice (incl. destination), so $20,260, but had them add a decklid spoiler for $427 installed (yes I know its cheaper at HandA but I didn't want to take the chance of FUBARing my trunk) and a Hondacare 7yr/80k mile extended warranty for $595.
