So anyone here spend any time over at cordclub? What is so special that they can bring in over 1500 members. Just looking for what we might do to enhance Drive Accord. What are people looking for, what do they want, what makes them stay or even better, what makes them participate? Inquiring minds want to know. :D

I go both places, one right after the other. All I know is, cordclub was there first. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

I don't visit, just because the name is corny.

"CordClub" sounds like a convention for extension cord collectors.

Yeah, but you know, I remember trying to visit driveaccord.net for the second time--and I couldn't find it. Took me awhile.

Turns out it was the .net that was screwing me up.

A name may be corny, but like the PR and marketing people say: I don't care what you say about me, just don't misspell my name.

I believe if you really delve into it you will find that only about 10% of members are actually active within the Forum.
You folks have a great Forum over here also and I see a few of the same people on both...
Like Adam said they have been around longer that may account for the amount of members.
I'm sure you will see an increase with your picture gallery, which by the way appears to be very nice. Plus I like the way you have your Forum set up(prevents alot of posting in wrong threads).

Keep up the good work.
:D :D

Welcome aboard Inspector1. Thanks for the info. Thanks also for the kind words about my site. I just finished implementing an entire new look to the site with many new features. I'm trying to build a good Accord site, if not the best Accord site. And at the same time, have a place that is open, inviting and friendly. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I spend quite a bit of time over there. In fact, I've linked both sites to each other in some of my messages and even suggested that you inquire about crosslinking with them. I'm not sure either site would be interested in that, but I do use both.

The cordclub site has a few more techy types that are interested in DIY. They tend to have owners with older model year Accords that are looking for fixes to the problems associated with higher mile vehicles.

Your site tends to have mostly newer model Accord owners and mostly focuses on the 6th/7th Gen model years IMHO.

Having had older model years, and currently enjoying a 6th Gen, I look for any and all Accord sites to share my opinions about the breed and to gather/share maintenance info:)

Have Accord, Will Travel (browse)!!!:D

PS. I've also noticed a few users crossover from these boards. Crosslinking does work if the site has an interesting forum. Your Factory Direct/TSB forum makes for a great link.
I had also suggested that you encourage the techs in your user community to come forward and share their knowledge. I've read a few posts here where I'm led to believe this may happen.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the insight. You are correct in that the focus for this site is 2000+ models. I'm working on possible adding a Honda Tech forum with certified Honda techinicians to answer simple questions. More of a "there is a knocking in my front end" and not "how do you rebuild a cv joint."

Anyone ever been to Honduh.com? Go browse for a few days, you'll be amazed. I've posted almost 900 posts on there, all info or questions. They have so much info on there that it's freaking incredible, anything you need to know can be found on there (about the 6th gens anyway). That's why...I can't come to a forum where nobody talks, where I can't get info. In short, we need to get more people in here, re-distribution of the categories (ex. I find myself lost when trying to figure out where to post certain questions), etc. For comparison, Wardsweb you have 320ish posts under your belt. The top poster at Honduh.com has almost 13,000. Other sites to take note of include Accordtuner.com. They're a pretty recent startup, and one person owns all the servers and stuff that runs the site. The owner paid for all this out of his own pocket and he's really not that rich. The site has gotten pretty big now, but they have pretty much the same problem as this forum. Can't really get much technical info on either forum, even though they have a ton of members. I'll contribute more often now, but the site admittedly concentrates on 2000+, I'm just a lowly '99 :(

Yeah, I pop over there on occasion. Even though I have an '01, I have lots of miles, so I'm always looking for things that go bust for my model.

I tend to be a browser and only post when I can contribute to a discussion or have specific info I'm looking for on most boards I attend.

You and I are on the same boat. '99 EX 5M just pulled 110K. Bought it used though, had 108.5K already when I bought it in mid-August. One of the first things I did was to clean out the area underneath the air filter, it had a few leaves and junk in it. Another thing I did was take apart the center console and audio panel to clean the seams, amazingly dirty with coffee spills, parts of banana's, peanuts, coins, orange soda (mine haha), all kinda crap.

Sounds like the guy who owned it first lived in his car, like I did for the previous 3 years. These 4 cyl cars make great company/work vehicles. They pay for themselves in short order @.34/mile:)

Whatever they did, they didn't take real good care of it but they were good drivers. 110K on the original clutch (you too huh?), but the tire receipt says that the tires were replaced at 0/32 tread left, so the girl must have just not given a damn lol. My brakes are shot (probably the fluid, they stop okay and aren't making noise, parking brake is in spec, but the pedal goes all the way down), so is the battery (normal), axles (normal I guess), tires again (probably normal).

All members here should give themselves a pat on the back. I can provide the "Internet Lounge", but it's the members who make this place what it is. I would be remiss, if I did not single out our own Princess, who has devoted so much time and energy to take this site to the next level with the amount of technical data she has provided. Thank you everyone.

Now that I've been coming to this board for a while it's my forum of choice. I can only read so much about turbos, Hondata, OBDII --> OBDI conversion, bigger rims, grippier tires, screwed up alignment, camber wear, etc, before getting sick of it. I have a stock car and as such need to know more about maintenance than mods :)

Hey everyone! I was referred by Kemosabe on Odyclub.com. I 'inherited' a '96 Accord LX with 114k from my mother-in-law, so I'll be looking for info from time to time!!

I just wanted to say hello to all and also express my great relief in finally finding a suitable replacement for my former accord forum home.

To answer the riddle....I believe the number of members that cordclub had acquired was strictly due to exposure over time. This site will get there eventually. I have to say that I did many searches for "Accord Forums" and while I didn't dive too deeply into the hits, I never saw this site. But I think Inspector 1 makes a great point that the participation is greater and more diverse on this site. I agree with his assessment of "cordclubs" active members being in the range of 10%. I know, I had to weed out the garbage after the admin disappeared.

But hey....lets continue with this site...keep up the good work...and my personal opinion of why cordclub worked well and started off big was because, for the most part, flaming was not allowed and removed when seen. It makes a big difference when you are not afraid to post!
