( TSB 96-050, NOV 96, Brakes - Fluid Leak from the ABS Modulator)

Does anyone have access to the TSB documentation (or a link) for the leaking ABS modulators for the 5th Gen (94-97) Accords. I've noticed several 5th Gen ABS failures across multiple sites and this seems to be something all high mileage 5th Gen Accords with ABS will eventually have to deal with.

Ward,

It's really easy when people know the # of the bulletin they need! I'm not sure how many years I can go back, never bothered looking.

By the way cool new gallery area!

I just popped over to that place... I can get them back to '73 except for the years '75, '76 & '80. I wonder why those are skipped!!!????

This link will be of interest to most 5th GENers with ABS.

Thanks again.

sorry to revive an old thread, but i've just discovered a leaking modulator. how difficult will this fix be myself or should i take it to a mechanic. ABS light just started coming on, clicking under the dash, and no fluid was in the modulator (and it looks damp around the bottom of it). Haven't pulled the code yet but I added fluid but haven't bled the air yet.

I have a 95 EX w/141k mi on it. Thanks for any advice.

Have you thought about printing that out and taking it into the dealer? If they don't automatically say they'll help, you can request that someone come out to the lot to look at your car and consider it for Goodwill repair (as in they pay). If it looks like you've taken fairly well care of your car you have a better chance of the getting it fixed.

If you have a little time on your hands, it's worth a try.

I had something good willed at 98k so you could get lucky as well.

Oh and no need whatsoever to be sorry about reviving an old thread! You used the search feature!!! That in itself is a blessing!

awesome, thanks guys.

ok, so i understand the "ABS Function Test" pdf, i assume this is to test that the modulator still works. i'll try this out and see what happens. however, if i get the air out and it's still got a leak, i still have a problem that i'll need to address. Or should i just let it leak (it appears to be very slow) and keep an eye on the fluid level?

re: the "Removal/Installation" pdf, is that only if it needs replacing? i assume there is no gasket to replace or screws to tighten to prevent the leaking, is that right? if it needs replacing, is the dealer the only source? i've checked a few sites and they either don't carry it or only go back to 1998 accords.

Accordlover, what are you recommending i print out and take to the dealer? these pdfs? i can always make time for some (free) goodwill :) just want to make sure i don't make a fool of myself trying to do it.

thanks again.
