Just wanted to get a sense of what people have experienced who go to a dealer service department with a Saturday appointment. It seems to me that most dealers who do offer Saturday service hours, usually have reduced hours (start later in the day, close earlier, not exactly a 1/2 day, more like a 3/4 day if you will). I'm sure that if you had some complicated issue and called to schedule a Saturday appointment, they would probably say "We can't do that on a Saturday, you need to schedule a weekday appointment". What I was wondering, however, is would they use this response for major maintanence work, say for a 60k service?
Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

My dealer tells me Saturday is only for oil change and other associated minor services (ie. checking fluids, rotate tires, etc). The Mercedes dealer doesn't have a service dept on weekends :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

Same with my local dealership - only oil changes & maybe tire rotation. No techs working.

Most dealerships around here have saturday hours, but they are reduced hours with limited availiability, with no warranty work being done...
Mahwah Honda seems to be the exception, with a good amount of availiability on saturdays, and warranty work being done too

The MB dealer I work at is open on Saturdays. Our shop is set up in teams of 5 techs each. We used to address all aspects of repair on Saturdays. The type of work coming in did not justify keeping too many journeyman tech on staff.
We usually only do the light work on Saturdays now. We have one journeyman tech and 3 or 4 hourly lube techs.
We will take you car in but it may have to stay over into the week for some repairs.

I usually hate getting loaner cars. The last one I had was a Chevy Cobalt. I can't think of a bigger piece of crap to drive.
I like it when I never have to see the dealer. Do my own maint.
