Not an ideal first post, but it happens. My daughter, took her 98, V6 to Silko for a check engine light issue. Two codes p0401, p0420, it cost $1664 for a cat, o2 sensor, egr and drilling. I priced the items from another Honda dealer and I paid at least 15% more from Silko. Who knows what the flat rate values were.

Ok we could accept the steep prices. The light was out she could get it inspected, at college. The next day after the work, the light is on again, p1457.
The evap system leaks now. Funny how the evap system is also tied to the intake manifold that had to be drilled for the egr issue. The fact that the tech did not bother to check for pending codes and sent her out, shows the lapse of focus in the dealer's methods. Where's the final check out, inspection?
Hoses were routed wrong, a plug wire was loose.

I have the service bulletin for the p1457 and am going to contact the area rep.
OK this is a rant, I guess a $1664 and do it again rant. :thumbsdow

I feel special. My 1996 has a 15yr/150k emissions warrantee (free!), and my 2006 has a 10/120k warrantee over the whole car (got it for half price!)!

Hope you get your issues sorted out:)

Welcome

Well here's the new strategy from Honda. Send me back to the dealer, the dealer says "we'll cover it if we did it". I say "heck of a coincidence, if you didn't". I point out where the codes are from. Ummm, Let me call the Tech Line.

Stall and try to create new billing. I'll be darned if I ever deal with a Honda dealer again.

I've really cooled off some now. LOL

You should have heard the service mgr, ply his own agenda.

I climbed under the car, checked all the wire connectors at the evap cannister, checked the hoses. I checked all the evap lines to the intake, pushed some on tighter. Checked the connectors to the sensors. Reset the system. Last friday, it's still off. The car passed emissions. p1457 is gone.

I have to comment on this sights' dealer forum. It's great! I appreciate the chance to let others know. Honda should be paying you/us because they could better their entire service chain if they looked.
