I'm thinking about getting an accord. Problem is they don't offer sirius and I subscribe and love it. Also I may lease the car so I may need something reversible. I don't want a sirius radio that uses a fm modulator because the sound ****s very bad. What are the options for installing an aftermarket head unit in this car? Do you have to remove the beatiful radio or can it be installed below the current radio? Also does anyone know if this car has an auxilary port or a way to attach some preouts to the stock radio? Tell me whats up. Also can anyone give me the run down on the rest of the sound system? What size front and rear speakers? Does it have tweeters? Can you just use the existing speaker wire? Is it possible to place an 4 channel amp under the passenger seat? What about running a power cable? Is there a gromit going through the fire wall already? Sorry for all the questions. I'm really excited about this purchase.

Welcome

You can mount a stereo in the cubby underneath the existing one or you can replace the factory one with a kit that looks like this:
http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/products/2004/120/l120997864-f.jpeg

You can also buy an adapter to hookup rca cables to the factory head unit. There are 3 different ones available:
The Blitzsafe model can be had for around $80 here (http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/BLITZSAFE_HON_AUX_DMX_V2.html)
The PIE model can be had for around $85 here, (http://www.myradiostore.us/auxadapters/pie/factory/no-external-changer/hon03-pc-son.html)
And Soundgate's is around $100 here. (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html)

The front speakers are 6.5" with tweeters up by the windshield. The rear speakers are 6 x 9".

Not sure about the rest of your questions ...

If I were you I would just get the dash kit that installs the aftermarket radio in the storage pocket so it will be easier to remove later on. I don't know anything about sirius radio so I can't help there. I will be receiveing my kenwood xxv-01d deck tomorrow in the mail and I will be installing it in the storage pocket. I plan to hook up the stock radio to the aux input of the kenwood so I can use both.

The front speakers are indeed 6 1/2 and the rears are 6x9's. The fronts have tweeters mounted up against the windshield. I installed infinity kappa 3 ways in the front and disconnected the stock tweeters. I installed infinity kappa 6x9 2 ways in the rear. I recently added a 4 channel amp to power the 4 speakers and used line output converters to convert the speaker signal from the stock radio into rca out signals.

I fortunately found a pre drilled hole in the firewall that I stuck a 4ga power wire through (took me 4 hours to find it). I also have 2 10" infinity perfects waiting to be installed (replacing my basslink). I will be purchasing a mono amp for them tomorrow and installing everything.

Email me if you have any more questions.

hey enzo, you mind taking a picture of where that hole is?
and did you need to add a grommet?
I found one, but it was a pain trying to fit a wire thru that hole, i think that's where the car's main harness comes in...

Well I don't have time to take a picture of it right now, but I'll try to describe the location. It is directly in the middle of the firewall about 1 ft down from the top. There is a rubber grommet there and if you remove it, you will reveal the hole. It takes some patience to run the wires through it. I put my fingers in first, since there is a foam layer just inside the firewall. You have to find the space where the 2 pieces of foam meet behind the firewall and push the wire through the opening. I just kept pushing the wire in until I could see the wire from the inside on my drivers side floor.

Hope that wasn't too confusing and was somewhat helpful.

haha.. thanks.. not too confusing.. but a bit... so is this the place where the stock wiring harness comes in? I guess not right? so is this to the right of the steering column?

and plus, don't you have to replace the grommet in the hole so the wire will not get cut into by the metal?

sorry if i'm being a n00b.. older cars were so much easier to work with...

If you're planning on drilling a new hole in an AT car, most of the time you can use the clutch plate blank (where the clutch would be on the firewall if your car was MT). You should definately use a grommet or silicone sealant at the hole to prevent the metal from cutting a hole through the insulation in the wires.... without the extra padding, you're just asking for trouble.

Anyone know the cost of the factory kit for installing a aftermarket headunit where the radio is now? Also what is the part number? Can the ipod icelink adapter be installed in an 06 LX easily iwthout modification?

I think the cost is $150 plus shipping. Not sure about the part number.

Seriously...if you like the factory system and just want to add a sirius radio, just add an aux-in system...there are many out there, and as far as I know the Blitzsafe and SHOND3 are the most popular options. Here are links for these two items:

SHOND3: http://store.yahoo.com/logjam/sounsnhond3.html
Blitzsafe: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/blitzhonauxdmxv2.html

I went with a slightly different model as I wanted an aux-in and an iPod dock, and couldn't really be happier. I have everything routed to the centre bin under the factory radio, so its completely hidden when the door on the bin is closed.

If you want to see pics of a similar install (not mine), check out the following link:

imo the HVAC adapter for aftermarket radios looks terrible compared to the stock setup...I just wanted to make sure you understand your options if all you want is to add a sirius radio into your setup. Here is actually one of the last pics from the site I posted about above:
