I was considering adding a six disk CD changer to my single disk player and use the storage bin under the six disk changer for guages. I like the look of VDO guages ie. voltmeter, oil temperature, and oil pressure.

has anyone added guages in the storage area?

No but I don't see why you couldn't do it. All you need to do anything is money. I'm sure that if you gave a group of bright philosophers and psychologists unlimited funding, they'd find you the meaning of life.

what is your implication with philosophers, the meaning of life, money, and a simple voltmeter?

Confusious once told me "Man who fart in church, sit in own pew" and "Man who stand on toilet, high on pot".

Anyways...I'm thinking about adding a voltmeter in my glovebox when I put my PS2 in there. I've never wired up gauges before, for a voltmeter is it simply running wire to the battery? I can't imagine there is much involved in a voltmeter.

He also say:

Id kind of like to do the same, but build a custom piece out of metal for the center piece, so I can cut it how I want it. What were you planning as a face plate to hold the gages?

I plan on doing something like the picture but using a sheet of ABS plastic. I'll mount the voltmeter in the plastic. I'll use some wood pieces behind the plastic to stiffen it.

I figure I have a big enough center console that's empty, I don't need the glovebox. And I usually spend my hour lunch in my car listening to music now, though it would be cool to sit and play Madden or watch some DL'd TV shows.

I would like to put a LCD in the center and put some sensors coming off that from a laptop using an OBD II interface. Of course the laptop would also be used for MP3s, video and navigation. Plus I think I can just hook up my cell and have high speed internet too.

Just something to do when I have the time and the cash.

Let us know when you get that hooked up. That would be awesome. I saw a TL on one of the other forums that had something like that built in.
