Does the 2006 SE have a light in the glove compartment? Also, what models have a lighted glove compartment? :dunno:

View Full Version : Awful question to 2006 SE owners phoenix 02-24-2006, 07:02 AM Does the 2006 SE have a light in the glove compartment? Also, what models have a lighted glove compartment? :dunno: ericrwalker 02-24-2006, 07:25 AM I am not sure but I know my glove box light only comes on when my headlights are on. jermy4 02-24-2006, 07:44 AM Yeah, my 05 SE coupe has a light in the glove box that only comes on when the headlights are on. fastball 02-24-2006, 02:16 PM If you wish to make your glovebox light come on regardless of whether the headlights are on, you can simply take the 12v supply to the switch which comes off of a line that only has 12 volts when the lights are on and connect it to a line that has power all the time. SSMV6 02-24-2006, 02:22 PM You might want hook up that wire to a ignition switched 12v line instead or put a momentary switch in the circuit. You don't want the light to be on 24/7 and drain the battery. Might want do do this setup anyways since the glove box light is always on with the headlights. SSMV6 02-24-2006, 02:23 PM Does the 2006 SE have a light in the glove compartment? Also, what models have a lighted glove compartment? :dunno: I think all but the DX/VP has a lighted glove compartment. fastball 02-24-2006, 02:24 PM You might want hook up that wire to a ignition switched 12v line instead or put a momentary switch in the circuit. You don't want the light to be on 24/7 and drain the battery. Might want do do this setup anyways since the glove box light is always on with the headlights. There wouldn't be a worry about connecting it to a constant source since the light is switched on or off from the door of the glove box. The light is only on when the door is opened. SSMV6 02-24-2006, 02:33 PM There wouldn't be a worry about connecting it to a constant source since the light is switched on or off from the door of the glove box. The light is only on when the door is opened. Unless they added a switch on the '06s (I don't know for certain), the glove box light is NOT switched. On the '03-'05s the light is always on with the headlights regardless of weather the glove box is opened or not. It's still not a bad idea to hook it up to a ignition switched power source in case the circuit is stuck closed.. stevencrosbie 02-24-2006, 04:13 PM My 6th Gen had a switch...why would they get rid of it? VTECaddict 02-24-2006, 05:07 PM cost cutting? fastball 02-24-2006, 05:10 PM I did not know the 06s didn't have a switch.... my friend's 2000 EX V6 coupe has one. BenjiBoy650 02-24-2006, 06:57 PM Mine has one too but the 7th gen's don't have one. Just stupid cost cutting I guess. ericrwalker 02-24-2006, 07:04 PM yeah I know mine doesn't have a switch, I think about it being on all the time since I alway have the headlights on....oh well. Maybe I should add a switch some day. phoenix 02-27-2006, 05:19 AM My 2006 SE does not have a lighted glovebox - with or without the headlights on. Not sure if this is a defect or what? Looks like when I get my first oil change soon I'll have to have them look at it. Anyone with a 2006 SE respond yet? SSMV6 02-27-2006, 06:53 AM I got to correct something I said earlier... The VP does have a lighted glove box after all! Standard on all Accords (http://automobiles.honda.com/models/specifications_full_specs.asp?ModelName=Accord+Sed an&Category=5) Phoenix, it's probably a busted bulb or a defective bulb... my middle brake light bulb was horribly manufactured and burned out within 4 months... The glass wasn't even straight or uniform... Anyway, you could have a dealer look at it and get a new bulb or something since it is still under warranty... SSMV6 02-27-2006, 06:56 AM Just stupid cost cutting I guess. I hate cost-cutting jobs like this.. Would anyone notice a $15 switch added to a $20k+ car?? :dunno: Numbers and specs is what sells the car and it's the little details that make a car worth keeping! CometVR4 02-27-2006, 07:04 AM I realized my visor lights for the mirror doesn't come on unless the lights are on BenjiBoy650 02-27-2006, 02:45 PM I hate cost-cutting jobs like this.. Throw away the switch AND the bulb, all the stupid lights on the dash like ECO/lights on/low washer/DRL/etc AND associated SENSORS! plus all the ugly lookin carbon fiber/wood trim....our cars would cost like 1-2k less! :lmao: Windchimp 02-27-2006, 02:54 PM Dude just think about this...if they just quit putting all the dummy crap into cars they'd cost so much less. Who cares where we've been - I wanna get where I'm going! :naughty: BenjiBoy650 02-27-2006, 02:55 PM I think that mirrors are highly over-rated. Who cares where we've been - I wanna get where I'm going! :naughty: I know, especially when you can just turn your head...come on lazy people! And glass...who needs glass in the land of fresh air *cough smog cough*!! And AC? Just go to the ocean! Oh and I want to retract my earlier statement. I don't want the car to cost 1-2K less. I just want them to get rid of the stupid rattles and build a real car with nothing in it (hey if there's nothing in there, nothing will rattle!)...and a real automatic. Plus they should supercharge my J30A5 IMA 6-speed. bbtaco 02-27-2006, 03:40 PM Our 2006 SE sedan does have a glove box light. It is on when the lights are on. :) ericrwalker 02-27-2006, 05:17 PM I realized my visor lights for the mirror doesn't come on unless the lights are on I checked mine today and the visor lights come on when I flipped up the mirror cover with the lights on and they came on with the lights off too. Maybe it's different for this generation. phoenix 02-28-2006, 07:38 AM Thanks for all the responses guys. Looks like I found the second defect in my Accord (the other being the shoddy interior fabric which is wearing away as we speak). It's only a stupid light bulb (I hope) and I have faith in my dealership so hopefully all these corny little issues will be resolved soon. psyshack 02-28-2006, 06:20 PM Thanks for all the responses guys. SSMV6 03-01-2006, 07:17 AM Psy, check out this thread. Maybe it's different for this generation>>> Correct, the 7th gens use different vanity mirrors than the 6th and previous gens. Honda now uses the same vanity mirrors as Ford. |
