Does the Cd player needs to be cleaned? Wheelie 02-26-2006, 07:11 AM Mine plays them. wee jermy4 02-26-2006, 07:21 AM Yeah, all I have in my car is burned CDs. I'm really rough on them so I leave the originals at home. Accord4Life 02-26-2006, 07:27 AM Are you burning MP3 CD'S? I use iTunes, and in iTunes you simply go to preferences to say what type of CD to burn. If you can only burn MP3 Cd's (Although this shouldn't be the case...) then the optional MP3 Player might be a good buy for you. Or a new headunit. But IMO I like the finished look of the stock one. Hope it gets worked out! Mike mwmcginn 02-26-2006, 07:45 AM I have a nice kenwood MP3 player, but like the look of the factory system. My plan is to install using this kit http://www.installer-data.com/item/display_item.php?it=99-7862 below the factory system, get an RCA converter http://store.yahoo.com/logjam/sounsnhond3.html to run the sound through the factory system. For me it is cheaper, I already have the kenwood, not sure if this would make sense for others. JWesG2 02-26-2006, 07:52 AM Mine always plays them.. I own alot of burned cds.. So idk.. It seems with my cd player though (over my other car's) that it skips alot easier.. Like the smallest scratches on the cd would play clear in the altima, but in the accord it skips.. sprite03 02-26-2006, 08:02 AM Mine just couldnt load . Maybe if i try 10 times it will work 1 time. However if my first disc is orginal and i put CDR on cd 2 after the it finishes play the last song in the orignial CD only then it will go on to play the CDR on the continuation. If i load it directly and play it , it will not work. I see you guys have the 04, 05. Maybe it's the problem with the 03? stevencrosbie 02-26-2006, 08:38 AM I used burned CDs. I download music from Rhapsody and rip my purchased CDs onto my computer. Every CD in my player is a burned CD, although I find myself listening to more XM and less CD everyday. :notworthy ypsibird 02-26-2006, 10:55 AM You can't play any multi-session CD's, and you have to be sure you are closing your CD's when you burn them. My wife's got an 03 coupe and I can't recall any instance where a CD I burned didn't play. Trip 02-26-2006, 02:42 PM You can't play any multi-session CD's, and you have to be sure you are closing your CD's when you burn them. My wife's got an 03 coupe and I can't recall any instance where a CD I burned didn't play. I noticed this with my 03, also. I had to burn and finalize the CD at one sitting and I never ahd any problems. You might want to check your write speed. Slower is better. I think I read somewhere that it shouldn't be faster than 32x. 16x might be even better. hbusa2003 02-26-2006, 07:21 PM mine work fine but try burning at a slower speed that might help budshonda 04-13-2006, 06:09 PM I've had this problem for the past year and a half now in my '99 Coupe and I have had no luck fixing it. Burned CD's used to play just fine, then all of the sudden they started messing up. It takes forever to load the CD and once it starts playing I can't skip a song or it will read and read and read forever. Plus, once I turn the car off, it can't pick up where the CD left off, therefore I have to eject the CD and put it back in to start from track one. This gets very annoying when I am in and out of my car multiple times a day, I usually hear the same 3-4 songs over and over again until I switch CD's. I took it to the Honda dealer since I am still under warranty and they told me that since it plays regular CD's just fine that they have no justification for a warranty replacement. I have tried various CD brands, as well as various burning methods all to no prevail. Even the CD's that used to work fine dont work anymore. ItsaHonda 04-13-2006, 06:43 PM The CD player in my 06 has no problems playing burned CDs. However, I did have an aftermarket stereo in my 96 that wouldn't play them most of the time. Like others, I couldn't get them to load. DVation 04-14-2006, 04:03 AM I use whatever CD-Rs are on sale that week...and I've never had a problem with reading the discs. What application are you using to burn your CDs? What brand of media are you using now? Generally speaking, I try to stick with Verbatim where possible. Any reviews I've seen comparing disc quality usually reveals Verbatim as using one of the best dyes, but thats a topic for another time :) budshonda 04-14-2006, 08:20 AM I use whatever CD-Rs are on sale that week...and I've never had a problem with reading the discs. Any reviews I've seen comparing disc quality usually reveals Verbatim as using one of the best dyes, but thats a topic for another time :) I use Nero 7 and sometimes iTunes to burn my CD's. I have tried all sorts of CD manufacturers. I have tried Memorex, Verbatim, Sony, and TDK. So far TDK works a little better than the others, but definitely not perfect. SSMV6 04-14-2006, 08:33 AM They brand / type of the cd burner matters more than the software. As for the CD-R's they have a very limited shelf life in the car.. The pits are burned into a special type of ink and aren't square. The track looks more like a wave. Try burning the CD again or make an exact copy of the disc and try it again. Some CD players are more finicky than others when playing recorded media.. DVation 04-14-2006, 12:50 PM Ok in Nero 7, I'll asume you are chosing "Make Audio CD" from the Nero SmartStart menu. There isn't much to mess up at this point...drag your music to the compliation and click the Burn icon. On the Burn Compliation menu, make sure "Finalize CD (No Further Writing Possible)" IS checked. If you are already doing this, then I'd blame your CD Writer, short of you having a defective or dirty CD Player. What brand/model are you using? SSMV6 04-14-2006, 01:08 PM Ah! Yes! Make sure you close the CD (finalize) and burn the CD without multisession... If you don't, then that could make the CD skip or not play at all. budshonda 04-14-2006, 02:49 PM Ok in Nero 7, I'll asume you are chosing "Make Audio CD" from the Nero SmartStart menu. It can't be my CD writer because I have burned CD's on over 7 different computers over the past 3 years and still have the same problem no matter what burner I use. I even bought a CD Lens cleaning kit and used it in my car... no help there. I'm tempted to take the whole unit out of the dash and open it up and clean it by hand. lol :dunno: CM5sedan 04-15-2006, 07:43 AM Mine always plays them.. I own alot of burned cds.. So idk.. It seems with my cd player though (over my other car's) that it skips alot easier.. Like the smallest scratches on the cd would play clear in the altima, but in the accord it skips.. same on me. the cd player is too sensitive about scratch. princess 04-16-2006, 01:04 PM I ONLY use home burned CD's in my car.... (will be the same with movies) because of weather. I'm afraid they'd melt. I've lost a bunch of other plastics over they years!! Anyway, they have always played fine. No matter which brand or program we burned them with. :dunno: Nero is one of our programs. The last batch of CDs were Fugifilm. I often use the jutebox program that the music is in. We put ALL of our store bought CDs in there & also the downloaded ones. :) DVation 04-17-2006, 10:30 AM Well I do have an 04 6-disc in dash changer with XM (I think you said you had an 03)...I don't know if it's the same player...but if it is, then I'm at a loss. What brand and model of burner did you say you were using? princess 04-17-2006, 04:25 PM The latest burners are Sony duel sided & HP laser scribe. We've had serveral brands though. The jukebox is Music Match. I just pick out what songs I want & end up burning them whichever program it's defaulted to or he's used last..... :dunno: Mine hasn't been picky. |
