Scary...

The Pilots player isn't at the top, thats the place where you aim the remote and how the wireless headphones connect (Some wireless conection...). The Player is in the dash like yours.

Can't wait till your RL is done!

Sorry, That looked like a DVD spot.... :dunno:

The Ridgeline's is in the big center glovebox thing.... :dunno: They may put them in the dash if you don't have Nav. It seems like it would be more conveinent. (sp?)

After he gets all the wires in I'll have to go back out to hand him all the stuff to put back together. While the back seat is out, he'll put in the new bass speaker. The doors will wait till another day. He's getting tired! It's now been about 8 hours of this! (almost 2 was to add the second screen....he had to make another connector & all.)

It's amazing what you can do to a car when you're a tech...

For reference purposes, it took me about 2 hours to install my auto-dim mirror.

Looks great princess, best of luck to prince :)

The 2 cameras are in, but it's not back together....I'm making him quit. He hasn't eaten dinner. He's been at this for 12 hours now. If he were just doing the OEM camera it would've been finished...but he can't leave ANYTHING as it comes. So he has this tiny switch that he can change from one camera to the other & prewired for the trailer one while he was at it.... :dunno: He's actually done pretty weel. I think the OEM camera is supposed to be a 10 hour job alone.

So tomorrow he'll be back at it again!

Luckily that big ol' thing fits in the garage.... he had the nose out to work on it, but backed it all the way in now. If we didn't have so many BIG boxes of more accessories, it would fit easier!! :lmao:

It's funny, when he was making his wish list I asked if he wanted the mirror...for whatever reason he didn't. I didn't ask why.

Today is the bass.... he wants to use the Honda box... but the INfinity is lots bigger.... this may take a while!

He did surprise me.... I thought he was just making the DVD work on an extra monitor. He was just using that one as a test. The movies will now come out on the Nav screen! I shoulda known!! :dunno:

princess

Well it's all bcak to gether again...for now. We have a 200 watt amp driving the bass....it's where the original speaker was.... lots of work, but it sounds nice.

FYI the OEM Ridgeline speakers aren't paper with mini magnets... they actually sounded fine. There's a chance that if we'd not ordered the speakers before taking possession, we MAY have left it alone. :dunno:

Here's the view on the Nav screen that the cargo camera takes... :D Oh yeah, the dash wasn't on yet..... :paranoid:

You would've loved the things he did to the Pilot. We had an '03 with bun warmers!! :D I know it's not really that cold where you are, but in the Winter even on not so cold days that leather gets chippy in the mornings!!

He had that back up camera rigged to come on going forward too. So he could make sure the boat's still there I guess... :dunno:

We didn't have built in iVes in it though....just wired so the portable could also be seen on the Nav screen.

I'm amazed that he actually put the rear camera where it wa supposed to go! He talked about putting it in the center, but ended up following directions.... weird!

Along with the '06 Accord Hybrid/TSX side mirrors, the backup cam is my next dream project to be accomplished by the end of the year.

How did prince do the cameras without something like dom's/ TvNav2Go box (what i'll be relying on)? Is he really that awesome? :notworthy

I know Princess. It's that whole male complex where directions are just those extra pieces of paper that came in the box. :lmao: (Mike, remember the gold emblem kit? :lmao: )

The seat heaters are actually quite nice for relaxing muscles or if you've got a sore back. My old lexus had seat heaters. I loved them.

Anyways, I know your hubby will love his truck once it's finished!

Yeah, there's a window.... He had an old A/C he talked about putting in it for years....never happened. I finally had the thing hauled off! :lmao: It was just taking up space!

Don't look too hard! The garage is quite a mess...espcially on that side (his side). I think the Ridgeline will be hailing old piano pieces to the dump soon... I'm giving up on restoring the one out there. I plan to take a saw to it, burn the wood & haul off the rest! I was under the impression that it just needed surface restoration, but it's missing keys, & pieces that make it usable! I don't want to deal that.

Hitch is on & working....

I have a small question (me being a smart butt)

how do you know its working as.......it either works.....or your boat is rolling in the opposite direction of the truck :paranoid: :paranoid:

End being a smart butt....

ps...I know you're talking about the lights..

princess
04-10-2006, 12:18 PM
In working I also meant the hitch part goes in the receiver part straight!! :D It took me longer to cut up the cardboard than it did to install the hitch!!

They put this plate thing on the wire area for the Ridgeline...the Pilot didn't have that. I guess they expect more offroading or something.... :dunno:

I actually helped with the hitch... I put that HEAVY box on a skate board & started moving it from the RV pad to the garage before he got to it.... I also put in the bolts on the drivers side.

I put all the bumper clips in when we got the front bumper lined up...& started a few bolts. I REALLY have been helping betwwen pictures & running when I hear the drill!! :D

I got pretty good at removing & putting the back seat in yesterday. First we stuck it on to make sure the clearence worked. Then we forgot a trim piece (my fault) that goes in before the seat. Then the bass didn't work.... found out it had nothing to do with the speaker itself. Then put it in the final time!! Good thing I'm part Mighty Mouse!!

Thanks. I wasn't ANY help with washing, drying or zainoing the top or hood....but I did the sides!!

I liked that grille better than the lines of the original as soon as I saw it. The ones coming at us on the road look like lines with a big H heading our way..... oh, yeah, they are!! :D

We considered fender flares, but saw them in person & they didn't add much since it's already flared. I think they need more rugged rims to look right.

I HATE the rims on the Ridgeline!! Not only do they look plastic to me, they're a pain to wash!! He didn't want chrome. He likes the utility look. I just wish they looked nicer. Oh well, his truck......right????

I guess people on the ROC site haven't been succeeding in adding the foglights without the headlights. Um, he never has any problem. He does use the marker lights so they'll still turn off if he ever leaves them on.

I don't have any plans to go anywhere today....

That thing seems so BIG to me...I'm a little afraid of still. The Pilot was bigger than the Accord in width, but I didn't have any fear. This one is longer, wider & taller!! If I just did it, I'd be fine, I'm sure. :)

Yesterday he woke up pretty yucky. He's had a cold all week. So he didn't go to church with us. Well, often we go out to lunch somewhere & this time it was for bugers at Carl's Jr. Nicholas was with me. "Grandma, that truck looks just like grandpa's..." Turns out he was at the pool supply place in the same shopping area. Since we both park away from other cars.... we were in different rows, but nearly as far away from where we we're headed. He refilled a day or two after getting it....so it didn't make much difference. It may have been a completely different story this week!! The prices are up almost 25 cents since we picked it up!

Still no trip computer. I'm not sure (I heard lawsuits from people running out of gas) why they didn't connect the thing. :dunno: Today he is busy with mine... the Ridgeline will get another turn later. :) Many of the newest Hondas no longer have the trip computer! The first Ridgelines did, then they stopped! I hate stupid proofing!! :thumbsdow I'd be willing to sign something saying I'll never sue them if I run out of gas when the thing said I could go another 10 miles!! Some of the owners are trying to figure out how to turn it on. He hasn't had a chance to try. But sheesh, it's windows, right? There's gotta be a way!!

I liked the grille too. The old Honda honeycomb is cool. Now cleaning it, I may be singing a another tune!!! :lmao:

I found a flaw.... a serious one! LEG ROOM!!! Now that's soemthing you won't hear someone only 4'11" whine about too often!!

The driver's seat will move so far up the seat can touch the steering wheel. WHY??? :dunno: They should've sat the track back some. We don't have a problem with it, but I sure wouldn't recoomend this to someone with really long legs!!! I doubt if it would move back far enough!!

On the passenger side the Accord has twice the room. We always have the seat all the way back. In the Accord my wiggly self can move around all over the place. In the RL I could easily kick the panel just crossing my legs the other way!!

Shame on Honda!! :thumbsdow This was never a problem in the Pilot! They could've made it better in the RL!!

Princess - Interestingly enough, the leg room in the '06 Pilot is significantly less than in the '04 Pilot, at least on the driver's side. You'd figure they would be the same, but they're not! As a matter of fact, there's a person on the Pilot site who built a bilet aluminum mounting adapter to allow the pilot seat to be back about an inch or two for this very reason.

Go figure.... :dunno:

princess
05-11-2006, 02:40 PM
By any chance do you know how far up the driver's seat will go without you in it?

When he had the RL all apart, well, in the process, was when we discovered it goes WAY forward. Luckily he's not a really bulky or long fella.... :) He's 5'9" & is quite comfy.

I never found the Pilot's passenger seat really comfy, but it didn't matter, since I had enough room to fidget. The RL's seat is comfier, but less fidgeting room.

Oh well, good excuse to take the Accord on the roadtrips!! I like the seat & the room! :)

Yeah, Stiller, he even managed to modify camera weights! He ordered some, then the next thing I know I'm hearing his die-grinder in the garage! He added some tire weights to them! The story he gave me was that they were for the still shot & he couldn't find any for the video. So he needed more weight to counter the underwater case. He's aiming for neutral. :dunno:

Makes me look forward to the day I finally break down and justify/rationalize/emotionalize getting one. However, with the new Accord to break in the Silverado will be a weekend household duty truck -- so it will be hard to justify on odometer mileage. Those second generation Ridgelines had better be real lookers with V6 Diesel or V8 w/VCM. hmmmmm.... I can hardly wait!!

princess
06-21-2006, 07:31 AM
I just don't understand why Honda didn't color match the RL's rear camera themselves..... :dunno: They just did the generic charcoal for all of them. Maybe that will be a change fo the '07. I don't expect much to be different on the next ones. I sure hope they don't go to the regular drive & 4WD like they did on the Pilot. That's stupid! There's not enough savings in any area to justify it!

We have rarely gone generic with the Hondas because having some version of OEM makes them resale better. The new owner of the Pilot was thrilled at the little touches. He didn't undo or advertise the fact that you could watch DVD on the Nav screen in that one. Just traded, as is.

The truck made 2 dump runs this weekend as we did some rearranging in the garage. You all would've been mad at us if you'd seen soem of the Honda parts we threw away! We had brand new parts, still in the packages for some of the family's cars. Some don't have them anymore. Some we just didn't want to store anymore. Life's been too hectic to bother with selling them.

She got her bath last night, so she'll be all shiny for the hot week ahead! (she was only dusty before) The softened water sure makes a difference!!! :D

No question, The OEM parts look better. I spent only $119 shipped for my camera. I bet the Honda parts were over $500. I know that for my old 4Runner the factory camera was something like eight hundred dollars.

Princess, Thanks for posting the Nav diagrams. I found all of the connections including the reverse wire at the trunk nav unit with them.

Aftermarket can definately be cheaper!! But he wanted so many toys to go with this truck that it would've seemed silly to draw the line there... :lmao:

Princess, Thanks for posting the Nav diagrams.

I do what I can..... :D You're welcome!

Took the kids stuff to the lake up north they wanted to camp at.... it was the first time we'd had the chance to get the Ridgeline on mountain roads. It had a great feel.... sure-footed & in control! we'll be going back next Sunday to retrieve all their stuff....

A quiet house this week!! :D

At this very time the Ridgeline is bug covered & dusty!! :lmao: We decided to wash it after the run back up there.... so he gets to drive a dirty truck this week.

In Hawaii he found a little blue turtle decal for a window on it. My guess would be it going on the rear passenger side back window. He was so funny with those huge turtles!! :D

I think we'll be taking the truck on it's first water skiing trip in 2 weeks. We haven't gone this year at all with the Summer's late start & so much going on. It's time to teach the youngest grandson how to ski!! Hopefully my back will be feeling well enough for me to have a go.... but if not, I'll hold the cameras! I haven't attempted skiing since my back went kaput! :dunno:

As reported in the thread about our ski trip, the Ridgeline performed wonderfully!! It pulled the boat up & over the Antioch bridge without a sweat..... it pulled the boat out of the water with no problem. It made the Pilot seem almost gutless by comparison!! And we were pleased with how it had handled!

The trips MPG was low...13-14 is all.... but it's still getting broke in & hasn't even had it's first oil change!! We're just at 4K now. We used premium gas as recommended for towing....

All those cameras he's got on there are funny to switch back & forth to!! :lmao:

The one on the back of the trailer is rigged so the running lights must be on. That way he didn't have to run a separate power supply for it. We changed all the trailer lights to LEDs & I like 'em. :)

Our boat is heavy.....it's 3500 lb. before you load it up with crap..... then it holds 30 gallons of fuel..... we didn't fill it until we were halfway there. It's not only cheaper in price over there, but less weight to haul.

The RL felt sure footed. The Pilot pulled quite well, but I thought it may have been over it's limit on the weight.... not by the book, but in reality. The RL doesn't seem to notice the boat except for it's mpg! The weight just felt more proportionate. I don't know if that makes since or not.... I wasn't the one driving.... but as the passenger there wasn't any tugging over bumps felt.

It's also quieter!! Try as hard as we could, we never got ALL the sound out of the hitch when pulling the boat with the Pilot. You don't hear the trailer now. :D

Out of 5 stars I'd rate the RL 4 & a half.... the half being the mpg difference.... I know it's expected, but I was hopeful!! :lmao: Power & handling were terrific!! We didn't even let the boys ride with us so we could pay close attention to the details!!

So to many, the looks of the Ridgeline are twofold - either you like it, or you don't. To me, it looks good. But I saw an option you can add to a Ridgeline that can make it look like it got hit with an ugly stick. The option?

A fiberglass cap for the bed area.

The thing that caught my eye was the lines of the truck bed vs. the lines of the top of the cap. It looked plain weird. Not sure if anyone has ever seen one of these before - but the cap doesn't belong.....

Yeah, we saw it before....someone actually asked if we planned to get one! It pretty much renders the nifty trunk useless.

I agree THAT would make it truely ugly.... I'm getting used to the outside. The dash is still ugly to me..... I term it as "butt ugly" to everyone.

We like the idea of just throwing stuff in the bed.... nothing to have to store that takes up much room. We have one of those things that pops into the hitch for extending high or low & a multi-bike rack that also goes into the hitch. He uses the extender thing A LOT!! Long copper pipes on top on the roof rack then sitting on the extender has now worked great more than once.... wood, long pcv pipes.... I should start a collection of pictures when it's being the hauler he'd planned for it to be. :D

I'm not a fan of the styling, the way the body slants back from the cab to the bed looks wierd to me imho, I prefer the traditional design, but its something that could probably grow on me in time.

I liked the interior of the one in my dealership's showroom, looked pretty cool inside.

That slant was what he liked about it... :dunno: It made it less boxy. The flat dash is just ugly! :lmao: Somehow it reminds of the old VW bugs..... flat with circles.

He's been driving the 110 miles round trip to school daily this week. He has a half hour of stop & go in Stockton, both ways.

The truck has had it's first oil change, but he was disappointed at no real difference in MPG.... until now! He broke 20!!! That's with 1/3 of the trip in the nasty commuter stuff each way. Of course, no real hills like on the way to work. (east is the only way you can go from here without going uphill) :D

He's happy. Now we need a roadtrip!!! He may be up to the mid 20's on open road!!

Yesterday the owner of our Pilot came into the dealership. He went through the sales dept. He KNEW it had been owned by one of the techs & wanted to talk to him!!!

:paranoid:

Well, when he found out which one, he walked up & wanted to tell him what a wonderful vehicle it's been! It's wonderfully maintained & well loved. He loves the little extras we added like the camera, bumper garnish, speakers, flares...... he had lots of praise.

When my prince told me about the conversation I cried.

Crystle heard us talking & laughed at me.

I loved that Honda!!!

I miss her.

I liked her better than the Ridgeline, although it fits our needs better..... it's just BUTT-UGLY!!!!!

I love your Ridgeline. It was either the Ridgeline or the TL for me, and man there are days I wished I would have picked the truck.

The only reason I didn't was I didn't "need" a truck or the mileage it came with.

I really like your truck.
