I changed my brake pads again for the 3rd time Mardi Gras day (Tuesday). I used the OEM pads again and my timing couldn't have been better. The wear sensor was about 1/128" from contacting the rotors, really very very close. I'm still running the original rotors and should make it to 200K, still no pulsing or braking irregularities. I'm guessing the OEM pads have contributed to the longevity of these rotors.
Anyway, when I was recording the brake service in my file, I noticed the previous set of front pads also were replaced at ~45K . I guess this is my limit for my mostly city driving these past 3 years. I think I'll buy my next set at 40K just to be on the safe side. I'd hate to ruin these "lifetime" rotors now. :^)

How about the rear pads & rotors?

My LX has rear shoes. Yep, still on the original shoes, no service necessary yet. I hope my next vehicle also is available with rear shoes.
Also can do without ABS, integrated electronics w/ HACV, Nav, and most other troublesome electronic gizmos. JMHO.

Ah yes, I forgot that it has drums. I do like 4-wheel disc brakes & I like the ABS, but I'm with you on the Navigation. I don't need a $2-3k repair bill when the Nav goes out so that I can listen to a radio.

Our Accord is too new to talk about its brakes, but the Ody just turned 70K last week and still has the original pads. I bought Honda pads for it several months ago and they're on the shelf waiting. I will probably put new rotors on when the pads are replaced as they have been causing a slight pulsing when stopping. The Ody has been about 80% highway driving. I think the Accord should do as well since it is less weight.

Unfortunately, odds say you will be unpleasantly surprised...

Heard that! The Accord will be driven more by the better half which also won't help. I do like having pads on the back again, as the Ody has drums and I don't do drum brakes anymore.
