another suggestion.... make joe schmoe user feel like he/she has a say in reporting thread content. simple~when someone reports a thread, a simple response to that user stating, ok, we will lock or delete the thread, or we will do nothing and why would probably make many more users happy and feel like they are not just reporting posts that go into a deep dark black abyss never to be seen or looked into..........

The reporting posts button is way underused. I already added a new sticky in the general drive section of DA. click here to see that post (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5464).

When someone reports a bad post, a mod will get an email so you don't have to worry about the report going unnoticed. :)

i only requested this because i had reported some ages ago and never saw or heard anything about them and i think the general consensous had ended up being that those who had used them never knew anything about whether or not anything was actually done....

the major issue i had awhile back i admit to not using the report the post option... however, there were pm's exchanged in regards to the situation with mods, and they were most definitely recieved, but nothing was ever done about the situation..... :dunno:

even if the system was set up to just let people know the complaint was recieved, it would help i think.

I think the email only goes to the mod of that forum.. Not sure if Princess, Ben, and I1 got that email too... This must've been before I became a mod and they became supermods. Thing like this is too easy to get lost if it's not in a thread.

So who decides what makes a post bad?

The ones that don't happen to agree with what's written? Sheesh, then we're ALL in trouble!! :D

Of course, spam isn't welcome & has been dealt with as it's happened.

I think locking or shutting down threads just because we don't like what's said on them is an abuse of mod's power. FIRST trying to get things on a peaceful track...then other action MAY be needed. Instead of publically repremanding, sending a few words privately makes more sense sometimes.

Sometimes the things done about situations aren't obvious & the rest of the posters continue having an attitude towards the offending person, not noticing they've calmed down.

I don't think any of us (Princess, I1, nor me) have ever gotten any "reported thread" emails or PM's. So, until that gets fixed, people just need to stay calm and deal with it. It's a public forum, and stuff will happen...get a beer and chill, it's just the internet.

So who decides what makes a post bad?

I only report stuff that is blatantly against the rules, such as spamming and violation of the 10 posts rule in the classifieds section.

I didn't get those alerts.. I would assume Ben would get more of them since he's a mod for the classifieds section. :dunno:

ssmv6, i don't hold that against you, these were long before your time as a mod....... ;)

but the report a post option is not all it's cracked up to be in many cases.
