He wants to give me an excuse to gussy up for dinner.....I have no clue where to go. There's not much here & I don't want to travel being a work night.

Any chains of nice places that I could check to see if we have any here??? :dunno:

We prefer steak.

Chains?

The chains I usually go to -

- Applebee's
- Olive Garden
- Ruby Tuesday
- Chili's
- On the Border
- TGI Friday

Of course this is the NYC metro area so there is a lot of fine dining available that aren't chains.

Places that you have to get gussied up for don't usually have chains, but they may have multiple locations. For steak I like Shula's, Morton's and Ruth Chris. Porterhouse preferrably...mmmm...steak....

Yeah, I know nothing about what's available in California. I only know what's available in NYC/NJ

They just opened a Ruth Chris nearby! Hey, maybe that's a good idea!!

I guess "chains" is the wrong term.... but you got the meaning....

Not sure which of these are in CA, but for steak I'd recommend Delmonico's, Ruth Chris, or maybe try a Brazilian steakhouse - my faves, which are "chains," are Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao. :)

Happy anniversary, princess!

MMmmmm! Steak! Peter Luger's is excellent, but I think it's only in NY. Outback and Bugaboo are both pretty good. I don't know if they have them in CA, though... TGI Friday is good for steak, too.. Applebee's is only so-so for steak... But like all chains restaurants, each one has their own level of quality.

Happy Anniversary!

I have to agree w/ the Brazilian Steak places. Those are wonderful

I don't care for the Brazilian places that much. I really like Copper Grill. Ruth's Chris is 2nd.

I haven't heard of many of these places.... I think since the Ruths Chris is new, we'll try there....

We won't be eating till about 8PM on Thursday since it's a workday... So it'll be cold... that kinda puts a damper on HOW gussied I can get.... the cutest things aren't for weather that's cold or wet....

Oh well, I'll figure it out.... I have tons to pick from! I'm attracted to sparkly things... :D & seem to buy dressy clothes for no reason other than they're pretty. :lmao: I know it's not a "formal" place....we really don't have any! There's a country club or 2, but that's about it.

That's been one of the funnest parts of the cruises for me!!

Thanks for the input...I really appreciate it!! Most of my circle here think Sizzler is "going out"!!

Oh yeah, it's 31 years if anyone's counting.... after we passed 20 we celebrate each one like a really big deal!!

Congratulations and KUDOS to you both for hanging in there for 31 years. These days that's a real accomplishment. So many people these days don't take marriage seriously enough for me. Things get a little bumpy or as soon as the honeymoon wears off and they're looking elsewhere. Marriages don't just happen you have to work at them. Anyone can handle the good times but there will be tough times and how we handle those determines what kind of person we are and what kind of marriage we have. From last years pictures you guys make a great couple. While your Prince doesn't do much for me personally, I know he's your knight in shinning armor. And as for you Princess, your name fits you to a tee. You're kind, caring and attractive. You're a true Princess.

You guys have fun.

You ain't kiddin! My parents almost got divorced, but I had to use some very loud words and some brute force to smack some sense into them...that's backwards ain't it? :lmao:

Princess, go to Rainforest! Oh but then you guys wouldn't be eating til like 9...

You know, for us it's actually been pretty easy.... not 100% of the time...life's stresses have got in the way. Well, the years. But it's been a fun adventure!! If you can't roll with it sometimes, you're NOT gonna make it!!

Thanks Wards for the nice sentiments! Yep, he's certainly my PRINCE!!! My Knight, best buddy, & all sorts of titles rolled up into one!!

Ben, that's not as backwards as you might think!! Sometimes we (as parents) need to be reminded why we made the choices we did!! :D

Congrats on the anniversary!!!

My sister used to work at a Ruth Chris' and it is very nice and the food is great. I think you'll enjoy it.

:puke: sorry I don't eat raw stuff!!

Actually I hadn't tried sushi until the Hawaiian cruise...I didn't like it. They brought us a tray of different kinds & I found them all bland. They did have a couple of hot things to put them in....luckily, because they really needed it!!

Asian foods tend to be more subtle in flavor I'd say :dunno:

Thanks "J"....

I hope it's good. I'm not too picky about beef... which is probably why when I go out I prefer it!!

It may not look like it...but we live kinda in boonieville! There's not much here, but they keep adding more. The Ruth's Chris' is about 20 miles from here...but so is everything else! :dunno: Being a new place I thought it fair to give it a chance.

Have you guys heard anything about Ruby Tuesday's? Seen a couple commercials for them, no idea what they serve :dunno:

princess
03-14-2006, 04:36 PM
There's many dishes I like that are Asian...but not sushi.....

I've liked most of the Chinese food I've had...even stuff I didn't ask WHAT is was.... :lmao:

I may try snails on the cruise this time.... :dunno: I've never had them before, but I love mushrooms.... I just can't think about it!! :paranoid:

Princess - congrats on #31 ! We're hitting 25 this June - we're doing a long weekend away from the kids down in Boston seeing a play and just hanging out. :D

As far as restaurants, the one you picked I'm sure will be fine - it's not necessarily the place as much as it is the company!

We have lots of Ruby Tuesday's up here - sort of like an applebees, ground round, etc - nothing special. I like Mich's suggestion of Fogo's - not sure they have one in the west coast. When we do our annual HP technical forum we always seem to find one of the Brazillian steakhouses - lots of guys binging on food - it's really a treat if you've never been to one. But I brought my wife to a local variant of that one night, and unless you're in to mass food quantities, it loses a bit of its flair. The wife likes quiet and romantic.

Have a good one!

Subtle? The subtlety was apparently lost the first time I went to chinatown with my co-workers for "authentic" chinese food.

He's mostly just giving me an excuse to gussy up since I like to.... he MAY even wear a suit!!

princess
03-16-2006, 09:11 AM
Since you're guys you probably won't care...but I DID get my choice made for what to wear.... I'm going conservative.... :)

This dress is long...to the floor... the jacket is beaded satin & the dress has beads around the neck line.

I still have plan B if i change my mind & go more wild/fun.... :lmao: Which would be a silver sequin short dress & light up acryllic heels.... but it sounds too cold anyway.

He's wearing his black suit.... I'd rather he wear his blue one since it's pretty close to a match to this dress....but he says the balck one is comfier... It's not an issue to argue about.

Our reservations are for 8:30 tonight. It's supposed to rain.... I will also be wearing a long black fuzzy/felt stuff hooded cape to stay warm & dry.

I get to play grown up!!!

03-16-2006, 09:36 AM
you know, it almost looks like that you could get lost in that dress, strictly due to the length.. :lmao:

princess
03-16-2006, 10:03 AM
Yeah, that's why usually when I wear LONG formal stuff it's got a slit in it... not trying to show of anything, but just trying not to get lost!!! :lmao:

It does fit well.... it's nore body hugging than it looks on a hanger.

If I remember, I'll have the kids shoot a picture before we leave.

I've done the pedicure...the manicure comes after the chores are done... :D

Today I'm wearing sweats all day until time to start getting ready... now remember, I'm prissy...so sweats means a 3 piece set with small ruffles on the sleeves & pockets, with matching socks that say "spoiled" on them with a couple of rhinestones & a matching hair thing on my ponytail!! :D

I found the PERFECT card!!! We aren't doing gifts (wrapped)...the dinner & the trip are the gifts.

The food at Ruth's Chris was great!!

I ended up going to plan C for my clothes... :lmao: It was raining WAY TOO much for a long dress. It would've been soaked! Plan B was too "fun" for the mood I wanted. So I went with one of the "little black dress" things & it went well.

The steaks are wonderful!! Just like I make at home...no loaded up with sauces & seasonings... when you really like beef, there's no point in covering the flavor!!

The ONLY downside was no sugar free desserts....

Thanks for suggesting it!!! :D

Glad you had a good time with your prince. And a belated happy anniversary. I looked up Ruth's Chris on the internet as I had never heard of it and found there are a few in FL, but none close by. Do they require you use their valet parking, as I prefer to choose my parking spot myself? Our 39th will be in July and all the good places are a 45 minute drive, or more, to get to.

Here's to many more for all of us! :salue:

princess
03-17-2006, 02:50 PM
I think the drive would be worth it!!

They offered valet parking....but we never use it anywhere, unless there's really no choice!

The poor guys were standing in the rain in their little red coats..... :lmao:

39 years!! Congratualtions!!! Hey, take a Disney cruise.....the end of August to celebrate!!! :D

Great minds do think alike! We have been thinking about taking kids & grandkids on a Disney cruise in 2007, which would be for our 40th. Just have to see the costs and check my pockets. My left brain says that could be the down payment on another vehicle! LOML and I went to Hawaii a few years ago for 2 weeks. Had a great time. But I lost points when I got home by saying that $$ could have been a John Deere tractor setting in the barn. :dunno:

princess

Lots of guys lose points that way...... I sure know one!! :lmao:

A family thing on a Disney cruise sounds like fun!! Go to http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/index for pricing info.... That's where we started.

They have great stuff for kids....but we're not taking any.
