...especially after finding this board a few minutes ago!

This is what I've settled on: an '06 Accord EX-L (leather) inline 4cyl sedan. MSRP is $25,500. Dealer invoice was just at $23k. I was able to negotiate a deal with the Internet manager of a local dealership (that is the only way to go -- no sitting across the table negotiating from a marlboro-breathed, red-faced salesman!). Anyway, I was able to get the price of the car down to $200 under the dealer invoice and will get free window tinting. I think my drive out will be around $24,450.

After reading some of the posts on this site, am I really getting a good deal? I was pretty happy getting a cost, in the month of March, just below dealer invoice --- and they are going to tint my windows. And after dealing with several local Internet managers (dallas area), I don't think I can get much better of a deal than this.

I am to finalize the buy on Saturday a.m. --- it's Friday today. The only question left is the extended warranty. I made the dealer give me pricing on the 8yr/125k $0 deductable, and they said $1400. However, I've since found several "Honda Care" Web sites that list Honda Care pricing. The best price I've found is $1075 for this plan (D82). I printed this out and will ask them to better it. You can see the pricing here: www.jayhondacare.com.

What do you guys think? Am I paying too much for this car? Level with me! :thumbsdow

Yep, sounds good. I got mine for about $300 under invoice. I talked to 7 dealers, 5 of them didn't come anywhere close to my offer, the other 2 worked with me and I got what I wanted (minus fogs but they did throw in things I didn't ask for like the trunk tray, splash guards, and a pin stripe). The warranty looks good too but College Hills is $20 less if you want to bring that printout to them instead, (www.collegehillshonda.com).

Have a great Saturday!

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the responses. I'm embarassed to say I backed out of the deal. I was detailing my wife's 10-year-old E320 MB, as we were going to possibly trade it in, and realized I couldn't just give that car away -- it's really a jewel.

So, I had to call the dealership and back out of the accord deal. :stupid:

I just couldn't see spending that kind of money on a new car, when my wife still loves the MB. (BTW - I am a total DYIer, and maintain the MB at home --- pulled the cylinder head a few weeks ago - whew, what a job). But I was getting somewhat beaten down on maintaining the car. But, I'm crossing my fingers that we can hold out a little longer before having to replace the benz.

I was really blown away with the Accord EX-L I-4. Amazing luxury.

Were I to buy an Accord, down the road, I would definitely wait until Nov/Dec, like some of you guys did. I read about a few crazy end-of-year deals on these things... And I am sure, after doing all my research on the Accord, it will be our next car.

Many thanks, boys.

Hahahha they call that the snob factor. You wouldn't be pulling the head if your MB happened to be a honda though!

I've considered driving an unreliable BMW or MB but having kids would make breakdowns and trips to the dealer undesireable. It's funny because so many people decide to drive unreliable cars because of perceived notions about what others think :naughty: .

One of my coworkers bought an accord but his wife WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING BUT MB. Her ML is in the shop constantly, too :lmao: .

Don't take that the wrong way... I'll probably get an MB or BMW within the next 10 yrs  . Got to keep up that corporate image! :notworthy

Lexus and Acura are the way to go with the luxury brands. It really is amazing what Lexus has grown to in just 16 years.

Hey guys --- thanks for the notes. Really, the MB is not about image -- I mean, this car is over 10 years old. I'm a total DYIer, but am getting beaten down by it all. And the MB/Volvos I own are great DYIer cars - they are relatively easy to work on and parts are inexpensive. And the cars are SAFE for my family. And they are truly world class cars.

With that said ----

One of the Honda Internet managers I was dealing with just sent me an e-mail, telling me he will beat my best price (24,485 out the door) by $500 (making it 23,985 out the door) if I jump before the end of March, + they will throw in 4.9% financing. How about that?

Should I go for it? That would mean I'd be just at $24k out the door for a new EX-L 4cyl sedan.

I got my 06 EX-L Coupe out the door for $23,546. Thrilled with the purchase.
