About 4 years ago i ran over some brown paint on the freeway and there were splash marks/sprays on the front hood/bumper, and a little on each of the sides on the lower portion of the front doors. I think I tried to take it off but failed to do so, and it wasn't until last year I put a little more effort to take it off, with no success. I tried wax/polish using buffer, and i tried claybar and that didnt work either. Everytime I wash my car and wax/polish it everything gets nice and glossy except for the front hood where you can see the tiny teardrop shaped dots of brown paint. I think over the years when I polished it some would come off but it seems like the rest is permanent. Any ideas of what i can use that will take the paint off w/out taking off my own car paint? Or should I replace the whole hood. I have a 97 black accord. Thanks

I think a good detail shop can get that off with some wet sanding.

It might be baked in by now. Go to WalMart in the east bay, get some Goof-Off from the automotive section, try that. Works for me all the time.

I work at Turtle Wax car wash and we get invovled with these situations all the time. We first use a speacial solution that strips off the old wax and any road grime. If the paint still has not come off then we use a plastic razor blade and gently take off the road paint. After we send the vehicle through the machine and is dried we simply use a buffer to take out any surface scratches from the plastic razor blade.
