Right near Hearst Castle. I felt it up here in the SF Bay Area, reports are that they felt it in downtown LA also. That's a pretty damn big earthquake. They say the Golden Gate Bridge seismographs didn't pick up anything. Consistent and large aftershocks. Incredible....I'm in shock. I always knew there was a thread but I never thought there would be a 6.5 during the holidays. I'm also mad because the people on Honduh.com are turning this into a joke when there could be people injured and killed (no official reports yet).

The phones & electricity are out. We have family in Atascedero. Can't get through, even on the cell phone. There is some damage & some injuries. It's going to take a bit to access due to the remote areas. It wouldn't be a surprise if hwy 1 has danage! It's fragile anyway! I didn't feel it here. People in Fresno did. LA to SF, not that's quite a shaker!!

It felt like a rolling motion, like as if you were just dizzy. I thought I was dizzy/sick but I asked my bro and he said he felt it too. It was so weird because it was almost exactly side to side motion for me.

I hope everything is okay. 6.5 is quite strong. Phones are out but hopefully no deaths. I'm worried about the aftershocks too, they're quite strong.

A couple dozen after shocks mid 3's to 4.7. Our daughter used to live next to San Lius Obisbo. They can't contact their friends there. Her husband's brother lives in Lompoc, they shook pretty good there.

It was on the oceanic huasna fault. At least it wasn't the san andreas! Hopefully it won't stress it out! If it had been further north, or south there would have been more hurt. My fear is the Hayward fault. So much built on it!!

Out here the Loma Prieta quake was rolling & seemed to last forever! Quakes don't scare me, it's the panic they cause. I do feel anxious until I know that people are OK. I have the TV on FoxNews & they're talking about it. They keep showing SF!

You don't get KRON 4? I love that station, really centered on more local news.

Paso Robles seems to be very affected by this. One building fully collapsed, several partial collapse, one person trapped.

At the time that I was hunting to SEE something, FoxNews was the only one on. Now I do have KRON on. I haven't caught up yet.....

I'm going to watch & listen for a while.....

2 deaths. Wow. So far......

I finally got through to our nephew & they are fine. Whew! It was a big concern because they have these huge windows in their living room that go all the way up to a vaulted ceiling. As it turns out she was at the doctor & he was at a meeting. He found an open restaurant & gathered there with a group they know.

I wish the news crew would get down there so we could see for ourselves how bad it is. Much of that area is familar to us. When our oldest daughter lived down there we visited often. We always lunched in Paseo Robles. When her son was trying to be born early, we stayed in San Luis Obisbo.

I hope they don't find anymore deaths! As a general rule we do pretty well in this state when it comes to deaths & damage. I guess the codes are working!:) I'm very thankful!

The ones on the board that aren't familar with quakes, I can tell you at times like this we crazy, flakey, tree hugging Californians are ONE. We'll squabble later! We accept that we live where this stuff happens, but we're rarely nonchalant about them. Quakes are both exciting & scary to most. Please don't make fun of us in these times. We don't laugh at your tornadoes & hurricanes. If you wait a while we'll being laughing at ourselves again & you're welcome to join in!

I'm glad casualilties are low and that everyone in the DriveAccord family is OK. You guys (ya'll if your from Texas) take care and be careful. Give all your love'd ones big hugs and say a prayer for the less fortunate.

The 2 deaths were women. One 19 & one 55. I believe their cars were under the pile of bricks. There's only a handful of brick buildings in this state that haven't been reinforced. I guess now there's a couple less..... They fall down too easy & you can't build that way now. That's why there's always so many hurt & killed in other counties, brick buildings.

Just 200 miles north or south & there would've been a long list! This one was VERY shallow, so the waves went far. My mom said someone in her town of Yerington, NV felt it & watched their lights sway. Amazing!

I am soooo thankful for the small numbers in the hurt/dead catagory! Many prayers must have been answered & hopes fulfilled!

I feel so bad for the 19 year old's family. She'd just been engaged! They thought they were having new beginings....:(
