View Full Version : California?
Accord4Life 04-05-2006, 10:55 AM Hi everyone  ,
I've been thinking in the back of my mind about moving back to California. In the 80's I lived there in San Francisco, but now Im kinda just missing the state period, and Texas, well... Its just not for me I don't think. Yes I was born here, but Im tired of living here, and I want to try to get somewhere near the coast in cali.
So my question is basically for all the callifornians on here!
What do you think the best city/town in california is that's near the coast, and with reasonable middle class family prices. I'll just go ahead and say that right now we'd like to not have a morgatge at all when we move, and once we sell our rental properties we've guessed that 400-650k (Maybe higher if we decided to sell our home in Austin) would be what we're working with. I'd really like to live somewhere like Laguna Beach due to all the wonderful beaches and views, but the house market really starts at around 1 million, and we're going to try our best not to have a morgatge to pay which means we can work less, and spend more family time together.
Any advice is good advice!
Mike

....keeping in mind that I'd like to help you....
1. My best doesn't necessarily qualify as your best.
2. Lots of commuters to the Bay Area/coast cities........
3. The Great Central Valley is probably your best bet from a value standpoint; consider vacationing where you wish to move.
best, ez..
Accord4Life 04-05-2006, 12:57 PM So wait. Are you saying commuters for work or vacationing? And are you also saying I should consider just a vacation home, or that there are lots of vacationers?
My heads all screwy right now sorry. Im working on 5.5hours of sleep.
Mike
BTW - Commute's really not an issue (As long as there are decent stores nearby for resources, and for my wife to do what she does best...shop :paranoid: ). I work from home and so does Karen (Wife). I'll probably drop my law practice, and go back to realty, which is what Karen currently does.
trainchaser 04-05-2006, 01:05 PM ...ok, let me qualify this by saying I am from California but not living there, go back all the time to visit though. I already live in one of the world's best places, according to what everyone tells me...
...from what I have seen, you'll not find much affordable real estate right on any waterfront, and that includes the entire coast, north to south...
...if you want to get maximum bang for your buck in California you'll need to stay further away from the hot spots. Although Laguna Beach is nice, one of my Aunts lives there, it ain't cheap by any means and the traffic is insane at any time, not my cup of tea...
...personally, if it were me, I'd try to find something in either the Santa Cruz area or in San Diego...both have moderate climates and pretty good air quality year-round, unlike the greater LA area that gets really hot and smoggy for half the year...whenever I'm driving through California, I try to find the easiest way to drive around Greater LA, hate the area...
...San Diego has one of the best year-round climates in the world, and if you buy something that's not near the beaches, you can still find some good prices on a house in the dollar amounts you mention.
...the Santa Cruz area is on the Monterey Bay, again the climate is very moderate year round - which is why most of all our veggies are grown near there - and not a long drive from really nice spots like Monterey and Carmel, which are two of my favorite places in the entire world. If I could do what your doing it would be a no-brainer, the Santa Cruz area, that's where I'd go...
...wish you well in your move, not a bad dilema to be in, actually, let us know what you end up doing...
cheers,
Lorne Miller

Accord4Life 04-05-2006, 01:32 PM Thanks Lorne,
I did actually happen to find some really nice houses in Laguna Beach going for 396-685k and they wern't on the beach, but close enough to it. Im trying to see when I can get out to Cali as I type. I'd like to just get a feel for some of the areas im looking into, and maybe look at whats going on the market, and weather its in our price range or not.
It probably will take some time for us to get going with this idea, as we still have to sell 6 properties, but if we price, and advertise right Im sure it won't be but a month for them to find new owners (We will have to wait to sell until lease contracts are over, but we didn't re-lease anything within the past year and all of the current leases will be ending within 6 months. We even have tennants (2) who want to buy the properties so that's even better. We can put one of the houses on the market now, as the tennants moved out 2 weeks ago.
Mike
Greg S 04-05-2006, 03:06 PM As you've discovered, on the beach usually starts around $7-800,000 for most decent areas so a little distance away will drop the price a lot. Right now the family and I are living in Santa Clarita, mainly for price, current house value is $630,000, and location, my work is 5 miles from our house. At present we are looking in Ventura County, in both Newbury Park and Camarillo. It is a slower area and has less traffic, noise and people than LA County as well a a slightly lower tax rate. I've lived and work there for 9 years before and my wife has worked there for 3 years and we both like the more laid back attitude. Still not perfect but, it's affordable and not horrible on the traffic.
I would agree that you really need to spend some time in some of the area that you are thinking about, either a vacation or a working holiday so you can get a feel for them. Also Northern Califonia/San Fransisco is very different than Southern California/Los Angeles. You'll want to make sure on what type of environment you want.
I hope some of this helps. :)
bchguy111 04-05-2006, 03:19 PM Well, I'm a california native. I was born and raised in SoCal. I actually grew up in San Pedro. It was a great place to grow up. It was a family oriented small middle class community. But, if I could move anywhere on the coast, then it would definitely by San Diego. Kinda of expensive though. :)
stevencrosbie 04-05-2006, 04:18 PM I was born in California...I've been back, but I just don't like all of the crowdedness and the rediculous cost of living.
I like the country. I've lived in the country for 9 years and I like the quiet and the people the country tends to have.
Good luck w/ the house hunting.
samsonskeg 04-05-2006, 04:30 PM i wanna move to san diego!!!!

Well Im not exactly looking to live anywhere overly big. And I know it will be a HUGE transition from Austin where everyone is so open and friendly. That was a downside when I lived in Cali, it felt like everyone was so to themselves. Where here, Im so used to just having a conversation with a stranger in the line at the grocery store for example. Austin is just very, very talkative, and a totall socail scene. Im really really ready to leave Texas though, I've been living in Austin for 13 years now. Same neghiboorhood and everything. So it's kinda been same o' same o' for a while. But we'll see...
stevencrosbie 04-05-2006, 05:11 PM I love Austin! I could never trade it for Cal. except the beaches in Cal. are awesome...
Did I miss something or have you still not put any pics of your car up yet? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:
princess 04-05-2006, 08:11 PM I was born & raised here a VERY long time ago.... things change & stay the same....
I agree with the visiting places all over the state. Do homework on the climate you'd prefer, then plan to spend a couple of days in each place. There's small towns that are inbetween some of the better known ones.
In the Bay Area you aren't going to find coastal homes on that price range unless you're VERY lucky or possibly a fixer. Santa Barbara area has some fot less than other coastal spots. It's not as hot there as farther south, but not really cold either. Remember, coast means fog......
BenjiBoy650 04-05-2006, 08:28 PM San Luis Obispo. Daytrip to LA and SF.
trainchaser 04-05-2006, 09:46 PM San Luis Obispo. Daytrip to LA and SF.
...yeah Mike, Benji has a good suggestion there, SLO and its surrounding area is really worth checking out as well, great scenery, much more laid back, and its not that far from the main larger centers of the state...just stay off highway 1 unless you actually go for the views or want to try your ride out on a curvy road - great for bikes - take hwy 101 instead...
...if you're trying to maintain the country type of lifestyle then I'd steer away from San Diego, pretty cosmopolitan, but SLO or the Santa Cruz area is a lot slower...
...you can always head up to the northern half, into the Redwoods or the Siskiyou's, heck, thats where a good chunk of the populace want to secede from the rest of the state and form their own and call it Jefferson...but it gets cold and wet in those areas during the winter months, don't know about you but my ageing bones don't like the cold anymore...
...if it were me I'd take a month off and go back, drive around and see what tickles your fancy...my wife and I both tend to like the less hectic areas...
cheers,
Lorne Miller

BenjiBoy650 04-05-2006, 09:53 PM I don't know the situation with Santa Cruz...if they haven't grown up yet they will go FAST. It will be more common to see people commuting from there, especially with Silicon Valley right there (it's not in a deep depression as much as the media would like you to think). Also up by Eureka or the northern coast as mentioned might start growing as people realize the Bay Area is friggin nuts.
princess 04-06-2006, 08:09 AM There's a little town near SLO called Grover City.... I think it's less "tree hugger" & kinda cute!!
I haven't been down there for about 3 years now. Our oldest used to live in that area. My Accord came from Santa Maria.... it has nice areas too.
So you want ocean & warm or ocean & cool?
Maybe you could buy Michael Jackson's ranch....I hear he's putting it on the market!!! :lmao:
Pilot4Life 08-22-2006, 07:43 PM Old thread. MAJOR update. I got a job, in L.A. with an exclusive Realty Company, who helps people who are someimes too 'special' to go to a regular realtor find their next home. I'm living in a Corporate Apartment, which is free of charge. It's quite swanky too! I'll live here by myself until school's out again, and I am making enough money that I can fly home on weekends. Everything happened so fast it was quite shocking. I flew in this morning for an interview, and now I'm in my corporate apartment with an awesome job! Now to the part I'll be hated on about :lmao: . I have a company car... It's a 2005 BMW 530i. It has 23k on it, but its quite the ultimate driving machine. I'll be selling the Accord this weekend when I come back to get my things shipped up to Cali, and I'll just use our old Accord (96) for my driving in Austin.
Anyways, I'll keep posting here as much as I can! It's going to be ahrd now that I can't sit around my house lke a bum all day and stare at the computer. I have a boss... :paranoid: ! Creepy...
Happy August 22nd!
Karen
Pilot4Life 08-22-2006, 07:46 PM Forgot to add. We'll be looking for homes in the outer cities of L.A. in 5 months. So bring on the suggestions, if its not here already :-).
K.
stevencrosbie 08-22-2006, 07:49 PM Good Stuff....selling your brand new Accord..... :boohoo: :bawl:
oh well, Free BMW...I'll take it. Its a 530...a real BMW.
Pilot4Life 08-22-2006, 07:51 PM Next question. Who would like to argue good reasons for me not to sell my new Accord if I can profit off of it, and have another in my driveway for the weekends? Anyone? Also, who's shipped a car 1500 miles lately?
stiller fan 08-22-2006, 07:52 PM ship an accord????
that would be like taking a jetta cross-country with no tools or parts or money to fix it..... sounds kinda foolish to me.... :lmao: ;)
andysinnh 08-22-2006, 07:52 PM Congrats, Karen! Will be interested to see how the job goes and, more importantly, how you hold up being away from the family for the week(s) you'll be in the city. Enjoy life in LA-LA land.

Hey there! I didn't ask for a BMW nor desired one. I'd trade the TL's navi over this iDrive crapola anyday. This car has too many buttons inside the car. Its annyoing, and nothing is like a Honda where you don't have to look to know where it is. The BMW has a spectacular chasis, but I still think its overrated. If they let me trade it for a TSX I would! I consider 'keeping' my Accord, but I'm not sure if a celeb would like driving in my LX V6 no frills Accord. :( I love it, I really do, but my career calls for a vehicle for making the right appearance which is what my boss told me :lmao: :lmao: .
So at lunch tomorrow I'm going to Rodeo Drive... I can see how bit the Bimmers trunk is then!
I met my neghibor already, she's really nice. I forget that becuase this is a corp. apt that I work with the people on my floor. So I of course was like telling this girl how I just got a job, and shes like "Yeah I know. You work in my office." Blonde moment for me I suppose. any good resturants to try in Dowtown L.A.?
Night,
Karen
stevencrosbie 08-22-2006, 08:46 PM I in no way meant you Karen....
Just some BMW owners in general.....
All of the hotties in SoCal....Colorado lacks abundance of good looking women...

EXLNavi 08-23-2006, 03:20 AM Congrats Karen. I hope all goes well for you!
I wanted to move to Northern California at one time but the price of real estate there is insane, so I think I'll stay out east for now. Not that the cost of RE isn't insane here too. I even got interviews and one offer in Dublin but when I looked at it, I changed my mind.
It would have been nice though, since I actually have relatives who live out there so I wouldn't be all alone.
jermy4 08-23-2006, 05:49 AM Karen, you should give your 06 to Josh since his car is acting up.
:naughty:
stiller fan 08-23-2006, 06:02 AM i wouldn't have a problem with that....  :deal:
i would keep my car as a backup, or as a winter car.....

Depends what you want Karen, everything is available near or around downtown. You have access to Little Tokyo, Korea Town, Little Saigon, Little Ethiopia, Glendale is great for Armenian food, also know as Little Armenia. You name what you want and you can find it.
As for a place to live, I can't remember if you have school age kids or not and that will make a big determination on where you'll want to look if they are going to go to public schools. Shoot me some info on what type of area you would like, conditions, people, culture, schools, shopping, restaurants and such and I can help you narrow some of it down to area you should look at. Just remember the beach costs a lot. For example, when my parents sold their 2B/2B 1200 sq. ft. house in Malibu two years ago they got $1.2 million for it. And it only has phone and electrical service, it's on a well for water, septic system and propane tank for gas. Of course the 11.5 acres of land helped out a lot.
Let me know what you want to find though and I see what looks like a good area. I personally am up in the Santa Clarita Valley area for a few reasons, I work here, the schools are great and it was affordable for the size of house I wanted.
faderrific 08-23-2006, 07:21 AM Move to Ventura county! You won't find anywhere better in Southern California. Trust me, I've lived in a few other cities in socal. I know everyone thinks the city they live in is better than the next guy, but I always worked my way back here. The temperature is great, it will be 100+ everywhere south of here and a nice 85 degrees here. I live in Port Hueneme, which is a little city on the coast. I live 2 walking minutes from the beach and I pay $795 for rent. Which is really really good for here. Even though I know rent in Texas goes for way less.
House prices are going up, so you should hurry.
And if you do consider moving to Ventura Co. BEWARE of OXNARD!!! Parts of it is 100% gangland (La Colonia, El Rio, Southside). And hopefully you don't have a problem with the illegal hispanic community because we have strawberry fields up the ying yang. They pretty much stick to themselves. I still say deport them, but hey that's another topic.
But don't let that scare you, 2 of the top 10 "safest cities" in the nation are in Ventura County... Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. But expect to pay quite a bit to live in either.
At present we are looking in Ventura County, in both Newbury Park and Camarillo. It is a slower area and has less traffic, noise and people than LA County as well a a slightly lower tax rate.
Wow small world, I work in Camarillo and use to live in Newbury park.

Congrats Karen! Thats great news
princess 08-23-2006, 08:45 AM Our housing market is slowing down out here..... you used to be able to sell a house with LOTS of bids OVER the asking price in a few days.... Now it's more like weeks & about or slightly under the asking price. They claim were at a lull in the market.... :dunno: Our neighborhood has definately slowed down!! A couple of homes have had for sale signs up for about 2 months! That was unheard of just 6 months ago!
Being down near L.A., you can visit Mickey!! Up by Valencia, you've got a Six Flags.... Magic Mt. If you've been to FLs Universal Studios, then the CA will really disppoint you!
One thing we've noticed in the recent travels is that CA seems to have a wider varity of food than anywhere else we've been. I'm sure where ever you end up living, you can find all sorts of kinds of food.
funnyperson1 08-23-2006, 09:56 AM I hear you, I went to Fremont last year and the food was excellent. In Northern VA we have plenty of variety, but it was easier to find authentic food in California where it wasn't watered down for American tastes. Of course in Blacksburg if you want anything other than Chinese, Mexican, or Italian, then you are mostly out of luck :(.

Any openings? I have my real estate license and wouldn't mind driving around in a BMW. :D haha
Pilot4Life 08-23-2006, 02:58 PM Hm. Have you been in the biz for 15+ years? That was the requirement of my position, and it asked for soemone who has had multibple years experience with a major Realty company. We have interns, but they don't get BMW's :lmao: :( .
Well today was my first day, and what a day it was! I got my first 2 clients, and I set up my office and all that great stuff. The BMW is annyoing, it takes too much effort to drive it, I feel like I always have to do something and I can't ever just sit back and drive. It's really unexplainable. Just not being used to it after the Accord I guess.
Nothing special happened today, but I already met some celebs! I gave them my card too. That's the cool thing about L.A.!
Anyways, I'll give more details as time goes on, and let you know what I do with my Accord. I really do like it. It's 'just' how I want it. I'm tired, and my feet hurt, so see ya later.

VTECaddict 08-23-2006, 07:01 PM i saw....David Boreanas (Buffy, Angel) and Zach Braff (Scrubs, Garden State) with Mandy Moore...all within 10 minutes at Virgin megastore in Hollywood. but of course i never interacted with them. who did you see karen? :naughty:
faderrific 08-24-2006, 09:49 AM I've seen Scott Baio (oh yeah Charles in Charge   ) at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Nicky Hilton driving in a black Bently GT down the 405. I use to see Jesse James all the time when I was living in Long Beach. That man has MANY MANY different cars, all of them pristine. And I saw Bruce Willis on State St. in Santa Barbara. That's all that I can remember off hand. I'm sure I've been around a lot more on the road, just haven't noticed them.
If any of you have a chance, drive down PCH in Malibu in the afternoon (or any time really), you are guaranteed to see someone famous or FILTHY rich. Last time I drove down it, I counted a record of 12 Ferraris and 2 Lamborghinis. Granted, they most likely aren't all celebrities, but still damn nice cars!
Pilot4Life 08-26-2006, 01:07 PM Update 2...
Decided not to go home this weekend, I want to explore the city a bit. My boss took the 530i which was driving me crazy becuase I never felt like I could sit back and drive and replaced it with a 2003 X5 4.4i. Seen here: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/Ty7840726/iB4098A_1.jpg I absolutely love it 10 times better. And the color is my favorite of them all! Anyways, got our moving situation figured out. When we find a home, we're going to get cross country movers, and have the Civics shipped (I' don't want my kids to drive that far...). We're going to depart with the old Accord apparently. I'm not writing that in stone as Mike totally loves it, but that's the plan. We decided that it's time it had a new owner to appreciate it that much more. Plus, Mike told me that it got side swipped in a parking garage :furious: and he's not going to repair the damages, so it's for sale now. :boohoo:
So far I love walking around downtown L.A., it just has a really great vibe to it. One thing I really miss about austin in particular is that you caan just strike a conversation with anyone, wheras here they look at you like your insane! :lmao: . The job was great this week, I made 4 clients, talked with them and Monday, I'm taking my first 2 people to see some houses. No snobs yet, really nice people so far. Well, I don't have much more to say for right now, but if you're in Texas tell her I miss her!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Karen
BenjiBoy650 08-26-2006, 01:29 PM I'm curious where you got the picture of the X5 4.6is...couldn't find a pic of the 530? What about your apartment, no pics of that either??
Pilot4Life 08-26-2006, 02:07 PM Sorry ben, my mistake. I got the X yesterday, and I just assumed it was the 4.4i seeing as I never checked, and another member that I spoke with on here told me that's what it was when I showed him the picture. And if you feel I'm lying, so be it. I've nothing to prove. Idk, anything about BMW's, I didn't even know it came in anything besides X5 before yesterdayw ehn I shared that picture with someone on here. I don't have a camera here, and I took that picture at my office using their camera. The grey Cyenne (sp?) is my Boss's car, and that out front of my office building.
Actually now that I think of it. Ben if I really wanted to lie about the 530i I would've gone and just taken it from anywhere I saw one online. I don't have any pictures of my apartment, but feel free to look it up. It's called Hillside Villas. Ben I'm tired of you, and you may enjoy arguing or whatever, but I still feel like your an ass hole. I'm tired of the fact that you always need some sort of 'proof' of everything. Maybe it's becuase you have trust issues, or you can't mind your own business? Idk, but that's alot like what it sounds to me. This is my last post here, I'm not going to contribute to a place that is corrupt all by one member. Isn't it sad Ben that you run everyone off? I think it is, and I hope you get help with whatever issue it is that your dealing with. Goodbye DA, and have fun with your Accords! If you can stand Ben, I applaud you, as I can't.
Goodbye.
BenjiBoy650 08-26-2006, 02:17 PM Hey didn't mean to scare you off but if you got the goods you have nothing to hide. Anyways, I was just curious because I saw a little inconsistency in your story compared to what the forum software was telling me...but maybe there's something with the forum software updating that I don't know about :dunno:
Pilot4Life 08-26-2006, 02:28 PM Idk about your software, but I appreciate your words. I still don't think I'll be sticking around. I just don't like it here very much anymore. You have a PM.

For the record, before Karen deleted every trace of herself online, that picture was the one she posted earlier minus the contact info at the bottom - the EXACT same.

jermy4 08-27-2006, 09:30 PM I'm having a really hard time with this whole thing because this is obviously all a huge lie. I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would join this forum and repeatedly lie about such silly stuff.
Just a warning to all of the members here, please be very careful in your dealing with mike or karen (if they even exist). They might be scammers of some sort so please be careful and keep that in mind.
ItsaHonda 08-28-2006, 05:51 AM Makes me wonder about that 89 SE-i. I'm glad now that it supposedly got stolen shortly after I agreed to buy it.

Sort of interesting that Karen started IM'ing me about a week ago - just idle chit-chat about her going to Calif, her apartment, her car situation. She IM'd a link to that picture of her car 2 days before the issue came up on this board, but I have no more data than that. Really, really strange. Never shared any real info per se, just passing conversation. Not sure what to think here...

ItsaHonda 08-28-2006, 02:45 PM I can't really say that I'm too surprised, I've picked up on quite a few inconsistencies in their stories (and pictures for that matter) but I overlooked them and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Funny thing is, Ben was suspicious of them from the very beginning, we were the dumb ones!

joerockt 08-28-2006, 07:28 PM So I wonder what made up story their using now on another forum? I bet its just one person...lame...
JWesG2 08-29-2006, 11:06 AM Im still just confused.. Why would you go on an ACCORD forum to make up stories? Just wierd?
Im me.. thats all that matters, Josh met me, and knows i had my accord, it had my freakin name on the lisence plate etc.
Then i got bored with it. :dunno: And okay okay... I miss it {--} that much, just for the comfort..
But.. Driving like i do.. 100-110 every day down 81 to work.. The Jetta RULES!

i just don't get it.
Cuz for some people living in their own fantasy world online is better than their real lives. They get things that they can't get in real life - respect, fame and acclaim.
I was reading at another forum that there was this guy on another car board that pretended to be this rich Englishman who owned quite a few classic and/or collectible, i.e. "connoisseur" cars.
He lied and lied and lied but after a time it gets hard to keep your story straight and provide evidence that you are who you say you are and you have what you say you have.
He slipped up one day when he posted a pic of some car. I think it was a bentley. Someone pulled up the same pic as belonging to someone else.
He then revealed himself as an overweight, pimple faced 16 year old high school kid.
As for why he did it? He did it because his little fantasy world was better than his real life. He was basically getting a self esteem boost when people envied his car collection.
If I can dig up the link I'll post the thread where he was revealed. It makes for a very interesting read.

joerockt 08-31-2006, 11:15 AM Yea, I dont doubt people will make up elaborate stories...But really what kind of nutjob do you have to be to take the time to do this?
One of the things that gets me is I was having a chat with "Karen" and she/he/it was looking for her TV manual and found an old poem she said her kid wrote in second grade. She then proceeded to type it line by line.
Where the hell do you come up with this crap? And on the fly like that? Beyond bizarre...Obviously much of the material came from the Internet. Kinda reminds me of the movie The Usual Suspects where Kasier Sose makes up the whole story off of the bulletin board behind the Det. back. Except that was cool, this is not... :thumbsdow

Nutjob? Not quite. Issues? Maybe.
The internet allows you relative anonymity so it's very easy to escape into an alternate life.

Well, the pattern I've seen is that when you are faking, you pretty much go out of your way to show your fake evidence. I don't know why, maybe it's because you figure you'll make people believe you if you flood them with fake evidence, at which time your lie is a dead giveaway... lol
EXLNavi 08-31-2006, 11:54 AM please do....
So this is the thread from that other forum where the guy was caught. I don't post there, I just lurk:
http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1
This is where one of the people on the forum started to have doubts, having seen that pic before (Scroll down to #694157, post by Milo):
http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/8/vc/1

http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/8/vc/1
This is where they find more evidence:
http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/9/vc/1
And basically all hell breaks loose after that.
This is where he came back:
http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/27/vc/1
This is why he did it:
http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/29/vc/1
Later on he posted a pic of himself, but apparently he has taken it down.
If you read on further he just gets dug deeper and deeper.
EXLNavi 08-31-2006, 11:57 AM By the way this guy basically lied about himself on a lot of other car forums... I'm surprised he didn't find his way here.
But I guess since the Accord is not a fancy luxury car he wouldn't be here.

EDIT: I decided that with all the luxury that the accord is, i would do the whole car instead of just the convertible top. Here's a pic: Oh and I did some bodywork to make it unique!

Online you can fake a lot of stuff quite, quite easily.
And judging by how easily he was found out, while he did put in some effort, it wasn't a monumental amount to cover all of his bases.
As for the allegations in this thread, I still didn't get the whole story, so I guess I better start reading.

They didn't really put that much effort into it (Nor were they really that good at it) Create random scenarios as well as pull pictures off of the internet and make up a story to fit the picture. I remember in one shot, the 96 was an EX while in others, it was an LX. Karen's LXV6 magically became an EX overnight. Her explanation? Friend came over and converted it. In one IM, Karen tells me that the the transmission in her son's Civic has failed at only 7500 miles. Mike then posts a message the very next day claiming to be disappointed that the transmission in the Civic has failed at 9,000 miles. Mike states that the keys and remotes will not unlock the doors of the TL and that the window-roll down feature is inoperable (although he claims shortly afterwards that he hasn't even tried it yet) So what does Mike do? Mike opens the hood (with the doors still supposedly locked) and disconnects/reconnects the battery. When someone called him on it, his quick explanation was that he got the windows to roll down with the remote. Okay. Mike posts a thread in the classifieds forum advertising his 89 SE for sale. I send Mike a PM stating that I am very interested in the car and will make arrangements to fly to Texas, pay for the car and drive it back home. Mike then decides that he is far too attached to the car to sell it and wants to talk it over with Karen. Fine. Next day the car is stolen. Then there was the whole ordeal with Mike's 'early lease return' on his supposedly purchased 06 6MT Accord (which he conveniently never took a picture of, yet had multiple beautiful shots of the 89 and 96 Accords) Not sure if he was ever able to wiggle himself out of that one or not. I could go on, but I think everyone gets the point.
EXLNavi 09-01-2006, 03:47 AM Sorry, but I think one has to be mentally unstable to do stupid crap like this...
Nah. I've seen far worse.
SSMV6 09-01-2006, 05:10 AM Andy, I'm not ragging on all Olds Cieras... I know some of them were reliable. ;) Just trying to show you guys the reason why I'm anti-GM (and it's not because of the LV print either!). :D
andysinnh 09-01-2006, 06:06 AM Andy, I'm not ragging on all Olds Cieras... I know some of them were reliable. ;) Just trying to show you guys the reason why I'm anti-GM (and it's not because of the LV print either!). :D
No problems at all. Back in 85 I was a GM-fanatic (only brand I'd ever owned) - wife had an 83 Z28 and I was trading a 79 Cutlass 2-dr in for the Cieria once I knew we were starting a family. Back then, my family (dad, mom, sisters) thought buying a foreign car was something you never did. As a matter of fact, when I bought my 79 Cutlass right when I started working at Digital my dad had to co-sign my first loan, and I passively looked at a Celica GT hatchback. My dad looked at the salesman and asked where you put the saki in. Needless to say, I didn't get THAT one. :thumbsdow
So right now I'm an all-honda family. But that being said, there are certain GM vehicles that would own. Someday I'd like a 'vette. And the '09 Camaro cerainly is whetting my whstle. But some GM trucks are certainly decent vehicles. The Trailblazer is a piece of garbage. But the Tahoe is a very nice rig, and after owning my '01, I'd certainly consider another if I needed the towing capacity and interior space again. GM is OK if you pick the right vehicle.

princess 09-07-2006, 07:36 AM OK, so from what I understand here....Pilot4life & sidekick left because they were caught lying...... :dunno: There's been many statements questioned that one or the other of them had made over their time here....why now???
Sorry Stiller, I'm not shocked. It seemed to be coming & I actually saw it this time.
I realize that sometimes life is stranger than fiction, but there's been way too many strangenesses!!
We had 2 wonderful Olds....the'67 442 & a '77 Cutlass Surp..... both ran like a dream. The Cutlass always had a tranny leak..... as did all the ones in the neighborhood!! We all laughed about it since some were new & some weren't. All different models..... :lmao:
