View Full Version : Honda Sut Inspector1 01-05-2004, 03:43 PM http://www.hondacars.com/info/prototypes/sut.asp?bhcp=1 raff 01-06-2004, 09:23 AM i don't likes... but thas just me tho... i really like the Scion Tc that is coming out... it looks nice Inspector1 01-07-2004, 06:52 AM Yes it is... Check it out.... http://www.scionlife.com/tc/ I1:) princess 01-07-2004, 07:28 AM Now, that's going to take me a while to get used to! I like the IDEA, I'm just not so sure on the styling. I'm sure others will love it. I'm not an Element fan either. I guess we'll all get used to it though.:) BenjiBoy650 01-11-2004, 07:33 AM Bold prediction - Honda SUT = poor seller. Now that Scion tC...it's interesting. I don't think it's going to be real strong or popular but it's a step in the right direction. The Camry motor might be just a bit too mundane for a sports coupe. The front end is reminiscent of an R34 GTR, but the rear looks strangely like a Saturn Ion. That's not good...copying people left and right. That doesn't seem like Scion to me. Comparing that thing to the Civic Si, now that's bold. Inspector1 01-11-2004, 08:24 AM Scion is going to be slow to market.. I spoke with one of Mgr's at Toy dealer Friday.... They want stand alone building and 2 dedicated salesmen for Dealers... Major investment for unproven market and limited models.......But who knows  I1:) BenjiBoy650 01-11-2004, 09:14 AM Originally posted by Inspector1 Scion is going to be slow to market.. Major investment for unproven market and limited models.......But who knows  I1:) IMHO it will never work. People have bought a lot of new cars at my school but not a Scion. WRX, Mustang GT, Accord coupe, M3's, many Mercedes, Ford/Chevy trucks, but not Scion. I think Toyota is being run by old farts that don't know the market, I don't understand how they expect a 3/4 Chevy Astro with 108HP is supposed to sell. Maybe if they'd try a new concept: high power engine with low price, and minimal accessories. For instance, lets say a 2.4L Camry engine with 210 naturally aspirated horsepower in a small coupe for $17,000-20,000 base. You could strip it of power windows and all those goodies. Put on steel wheels with an inexpensive option of alloys, no stereo, etc. Most people put new wheels and a new head unit in their car anyway. It would be a good WRX or RSX alternative. The engine would be okay since it's mass produced. Then, drop it into a sedan model, the Matrix, and create a Camry "Sport." The engine would be good for production since it can be put out in such high numbers, and it would be a good engine knowing Toyota, and you could prop up your image. VOILA! Oh yeah forgot, they have a 210HP turbo I4 from the JDM Altezza. They should bring it over!! princess 06-24-2004, 10:07 AM http://www.hondacars.com/info/prototypes/sut.asp This came to us from Honda today. I didn't realize that they're going to tow 5K!! I sure wish it wasn't soooo ugly! I didn't see whether or not it will have Nav. If you hear that news, pass it on. I wonder if we'll end up with oine next time...... I want more info....like the exact size of the cargo area. Power seats? Heated seats? Nav? Duel climate? I think I'll request a full brochure, maybe it will answer some questions for me. BenjiBoy650 06-24-2004, 10:13 AM I don't know how they expect it to tow 5000lbs and still expect to compete with the market. Especially now, the Titan is out with a massive burly V8 with tons of torque, 9000lbs of towing, Navi, all this stuff. Honda wants to try the market with this thing they call an SUT? That 5 foot cargo bed is awful short. princess 06-24-2004, 10:20 AM That 5' might be with the gate down too! The Pilot's cargo area works out great for us. BUT... if it does tow 5K, then I'd relax more when towing the boat. It's about 3500 before the gear, gas, etc. So far we've had no problems...other than a noisey hitch, which is fixed now. I do like having inside cargo..... I don't know....I just think he might be interested later. I requested a flyer. I think 9K is overkill for towing. Very few of us need that much. I want to keep the reasonible gas mileage..... BenjiBoy650 06-24-2004, 10:22 AM Never towed, wouldn't know. My friend has towed 2 jet skis with a Firebird, so it can't be that bad lol. princess 06-24-2004, 10:30 AM Those are a LOT lighter! Nothing's flat around here. Just to leave Antioch means a hill, so we need some leeway on the how much it can tow area. He loves his Pilot, I was just thinking he might be ready for something completely different at trade in time. I think that will be in about 4 years or so. I'll be trading in right after that unless he talks me into it sooner, which still wouldn't be until the next gen.:) Dave 06-24-2004, 10:41 AM just when i thought there couldnt possible by an uglier vehicle than the chevy avalanche, honda introduces a blockier version. vehicles like that are perfect for the trendy types that are on the fence about which is cooler, a big pick-up or an oversized SUV. princess 06-24-2004, 10:52 AM See, that's part of the info I want....the actual dimensions.... is it Pilot/oddy size or bigger? I consider them midsize & just right. It looks roughly that size in the pictures. I don't want to go fullsize, been there, done that. We had a '78 Chevy Silverado forever! That 454 could haul anything! BUT it only got about 10 mpg. I don't want that again! I want to stay above 20. BenjiBoy650 06-24-2004, 11:33 AM Well I don't think they're going to make it any bigger. This 5-speed auto tranny is kind of already having a very hard time with the weight of the Pilot/Ody and now they're upping the towing capacity too...good idea? :( princess 06-24-2004, 12:08 PM If they pre-add the oil injection system to the tranny, it should be OK. I think that's what they're doing to the newest Pilots. |
