Ok I've searched the forums and couldn't find anything jumping out at me in regards to fixing minor/medium scratches so I figured I would post...

When I was washing my car last weekend I noticed a few scratches by the drivers door that look like they either just nicked the clearcoat or possibly went through it (coloured paint itself is completely fine). Obviously I want to fix this, but I am just wondering what I should buy to do it...

I've noticed a few things at Canadian Tire for removing scratches, and just wanted to run it past all of you and see if anyone has any experience using them/doing this in the past. If you used something else and it worked great then let me know and I'll see if I can get it instead (want to buy in store and not online if possible). Anyhow, here are the links for the products I have found thus far:

Thanks in advance...

I can only guess the severity of the scratches but this is well worth a shot:

It is a very slight scratch (only 1 small spot is slightly deeper, but even that one is not that much). I'll probably go with the Meguiars stuff but I'm still open to anyone elses opinions on this one as well....

If I get a chance to I'll take a few pics of it in the next few days (not sure how well the camera will show it, as its only a little bit of the clearcoat).

I've used the Megs ScratchX it works nicely, don't use their directions though. Use a 100% cotton cloth (tight weave) not an applicator or terry towel. Those will work fine for rejuvinating the whole paint job, but the cloths will be more effective for tackling defined scratches. Word to the wise - don't expect miracles if it's too deep in the clear coat.

This ONLY works for spider web-type scratches. Don't waste your time with it if you want to remove anything deeper than that.

Use the Megs Scratch-X with a buffer and it will get rid of most of the spider webs..

For the deeper scratch, try filling it with some touchup paint then using some Langka on it.

I've used this. I thought it worked better than the Meguires's x scratch.

Althought not as awesome as advertised on the bottle, its certainly a cheap solution for minor scratche. I had a 3 inches hairline scratch on my bumper.

I had a scratch too just today, after going to a Honda dealer to buy clips for my fenderwell trim ($3.59 each..bought 5 pcs.)..

Then went to the market to get something for dinner.... while exiting the parking lot ramp...whooomp! I knew it was a disaster..when I reached home, my doubts were confirmed... scratches on the lower left bottom front bumper... :headbash: :headbash: :headbash:

just had my front & rear bumper fixed last month cost me $500..
anyway called up the shop that did my bumper..told me to bring it tomorrow for an estimate...

IMO they can just sand that scratch part & buff..w/o removing the front bumper...it's a good thing i'm on work vacation this week...

DAMN...should have gone to the regular market I normally go to...although it's a lot farther... :headbash: :headbash: :headbash:
