'99 OEM CD headunit code extraction?

How do I find out the security code on my '99 EX CD player? Car came without a card and the headunit has been replaced, but I can't really sell it until I know what the code is. There's a serial number or something printed on the top of the headunit in the metal casing, the last 5 digits are numbers, could that be it?

give the serial number to the dealer & they can look it up for you.

Do you know if they charge for this?

each dealer has the choice, sometimes if you have the serial number available, it's no charge. You can ask the price over the phone, but you need to get the code in person.
