How often do you check tire pressure...

Once a week

Once a month

Once a year

Never

I see alot of 3-4 year old vehicles with flat spares that have never been out of trunk......... Why have one???

I check mine about every one to two months. I checked my spare recently, inflated it back up to the recommended levels. I'm considering buying just one alloy and therefore having a full sized spare, but 1) I never drive long distance 2) I'm not sure if it'd fit.

Honestly.....it only gets checked at services or sometimes before road trips. Now it might not get remembered before the packing....so it just gets neglected. But always done with the services. It on the list at the dealers for Intermediate & Major Services.

I think the only time we've had a flat on a Honda was our very first road trip in the Pilot. It went to shreads on 101, about 100 miles from home at 9PM on a Sunday. Drove home with the mini spare. Then bought 4 new tires through tire rack online the next day. Now we use one of the OEM's as a spare & the mini spare gathers dust in the corner of the garage.

You should've made this a "poll"!!:)

Does anyone know if a full size spare will fit in the 6th gen Accord spare tire compartment?

One of those things I never think about -- so never. Had a flat, put the spare on, and it was flat. I was pissed. You think I'd learn? :)

However, that's the beauty of road-side assistance. Best $4 every six months on my insurance.

In the SF bay area, we have this program where tax dollars go to paying tow truck drivers hired by the government to go driving around on the freeways looking for broken down cars. That's so damn cool. They're all so nice too, the moment they meet you they give you a pamphlet that clearly states they are not allowed to take "tips" (gratuity), and they don't! That's just nice.

We have roadside assistance in Cincinnati also, sponsered by CVS pharmacy and Artimis Traffic control ... Also have on my Insurance...... But.... with my job I am on a set time schedule and 30 mins of wait time can mess up my whole day. So I would rather be prepaired to do myself.....

Check out this link, I use to find traffic problems locally

Here is Nebraska's attempt at the traffic cams:

Hey, I've been to Lincoln, Neb! I visited York College in my junior year of high school. I wandered around & ended up falling in a creek. It looked like the cement thing went all the way across....I was wrong! A local took me on what he thought was a town tour. Apparently his idea of fun was logging down the numbers on trains he saw. I was ever so excited to watch trains go by! (yawn)

The trip there was facinating, I'd never seen so much FLAT land. Miles & miles of just flat land!! It was a new thing to me! Nothings that way here. :)

It sounds like you have fond memories of Nebraska…

I believe the majority of travelers who have been to Nebraska traveled along Interstate 80, which runs parallel to the Platte River. Since it use to be part of the river bed (pre-dam days) it’s very flat. If you get off the interstate, Nebraska has lots of rolling hills (no mountains, but not necessarily flat).

I’ll be in California this March. I’m looking forward to the cross country drive in my new car. I’m taking my grandparents, since they don’t have the means to get themselves there.

Really? What part of CA are you visiting?

Santa Rosa area. My grant aunt lives there -- last time I was there (16 years ago) she lived in the country -- i guess the city has grown up around her house. I'm very excited about going.

sure -- after driving 1600 miles with grandma and grandpa, I'll probably need a break. Who all lives around Santa Rosa?

Its going to be an interesting trip -- my grandmother is a chain smoker -- and there is no smoking in my accord -- so I'm sure she'll be clawing at the ceiling wanting out at every rest stop for some 'fresh air'. :) I'm actually looking forward to spending the time with them.

We can get a meet in like Sausalito or something. Santa Rosa is pretty far up and Melt is in Napa, princess in Antioch and I'm just south of San Francisco. At Sausalito we'd probably all have about the same driving distance, so it's fair :) It's a nice area to boot lol

Remember Toohyper in Concord also! Maybe Ward can help us find others that have not been active, but are members. There's a chance the ones in Central CA would want to meet too, never know!

feferic, there's no smoking in our vehicles either & it's made for some interesting roadtrips too! We're well aquainted with all the rest stops along I5 south!

At least hwy 80 will get you all the way to Vallejo, then do 29 to 101 & there you are!

OK, so I've done a few roadtrips!:D

How long are planning to stay in Santa Rosa? Do you plan to visit any of the sights while out here? If you have the time go see Yosemite! From Santa Rosa you could make one long day of it. You also need to go to Dillion Beach or Bodega Bay since you'll be so close to them.

What part of March is this adventure planned for? Our weather can still be a bit iffy. Unless there's a storm right then, 80 should be clear through the Sierras.

I'll check out those sites. I also want to spend some time in the Napa valley...

We're thinking about early March -- first or second week. March weather in Nebraska can be a bit unpredictable -- so it just depends. My family lives in the panhandle, so the first part of the journey (Lincoln to home) is about 400 miles. With the weather, I'm most concerned about the Rockies -- I know those roads can get pretty bad. My grandma wants to be buy chains for my tires; I'll guess we'll just have to see.

Buy cables, they're not so noisy.

Yeah, those Rockies can be a booger! We had thought about a Summer road trip all the way to the other coast. BUT we'd planned on taking the Pilot, because of the mts. inbetween. Now we're flying & we'll be renting some piece of crap after we get to FL. We'll hoof it in DC. We've started back on the treadmill to get the stamina (sp?) back up for it.

There's someone on here from Turlock. I guess I should start researching. No wait, BB is the one that wants to meet, he's now offically dubbed the meet organizer!!:D

I think whenever you come out here you'll really enjoy the sights! Didn't the star trek movie " The Journey Home" start at Yosemite? I never remember which one..... It's a beautiful place! I think you can still drive up to Glacier Point which over looks the whole valley. My prince did the to the top of Yosemite Falls with our son, then to the top of Half Dome alone. ( I wimped out) We were there for a week. we used to go every Summer when the kids were teens. If you do want to go & stay a night, make reservations!

The Napa Valley is one of the featured areas in Disney's "Soarin' Over CA" ride. It has the classic hot air ballons.

The last few miles on the road to Glacier Point is so beautiful. I was following a friend (driving a 2002 Accord EX) in our '97 Camry, and we were rushing to see the sunset. The guy took a U-Turn a bit fast and braked hard...looked like he lifted the inside rear with 2 kids under 3 y/o inside the car muahahaha beautiful.
