i was outside and decided to take a few pictures of my HIDs, switchbacks, rims, and tint (not the best pictures, but you get the idea)

i have my lamin-x film coming in this week to black out the orange reflector on my headlights, and i sent my 12" Audioque HDC3 sub into the factory to have it rebuilt to a 15". i will make a video when i get it in. ill also post pictures of ALL of my interior mods when i get the sub in as well. :D

Also, i know alot of you will hate on my Chrome 20's, but keep in mind, they came off my old car and they are good for now considering i dont have $1800 to throw down on black rims. I have yet to have someone tell me they dont look good either.

anyway, enjoy :)

6000k HID's, didnt even have to remove bumper for installation

20 inch chrome Strada Venti Rims, rides really well with the hub rings i just had installed (need 245 series tires, these are too low profile)

So far...there has been ZERO grammar correcting in this thread. Daniel thought that he named the car SOME and I clarified that it did appear so to the OP. So if you could point out where somebody corrected his grammar, id like to see it.

No one was actually trying to correct his grammar, I just didn't understand what he was saying so I figured his car was named some. I mean it's still jacked up even after he edited. So if you want me to be the grammar boss, it should be "Here are some pictures of my 2011 black coupe mods".

The coupes have projectors so there should not be any glare whatsoever unless he has a sedan which he doesn't. I never liked chrome wheels, especially 20". Should have stuck with the OEM's but to each their own. I can tell you take care of your car well.

So you're saying plug and play HID kit for the Accord Coupes will not have hardly any glare then?

07AccordEx-L
10-07-2011, 12:08 AM
The reason is because most of the peeps on here that are blinding folks are the sedan guys. The coupes come with projectors in their headlights whereas the sedans don't. Their headlights are reflector based and if you install HID's in them, the beam pattern will scatter. Ive seen HID's in a stock reflector housing and it does blind oncoming drivers. I don't care what people say. It will blind others. I don't know if you understand but retrofitting refers to cutting out your stock headlights and fabricating or retrofitting a projector into it.

So basically since I have the coupe I don't "need" to retro fit I can just use a plug and play kit? (And save money while I'm at it too_

Doesn't matter If it's lx-S. No glare for coupe but there will be for the sedan.

You are wrong. Just because a headlight is a projector headlight doesn't mean there will be no glare from a HID kit. The kit will change the distribution of the light under the cutoff. There will be too much foreground light with a HID kit. And there will be an increase in glare even with projector headlights. I'm not sure if you're aware but there's a big difference in the design of a halogen projector and a HID projector. Why? Because the the bulbs of one are not compatible with the other. Period.

Markus
10-10-2011, 08:17 AM

You are quite correct that HID kits in halogen reflectors are bad. And as I said in a previous post, they're also bad in halogen projectors. That the cutoff is maintained in a halogen projector with a HID kit fools people into thinking such HID kit use is OK.

Markus

Nice! Everyone says don't go over 5k...

Is 6k pushing it or would I be ok?

You need to decide what your priorities are. If you want to look cool and have a HID light just like your neighbour's BMW and don't care about glaring oncoming traffic then get a HID kit. If you want to improve your lighting safely and effectively, and improve it over and above what any HID kit will do for you, then you should replace the H11 low beam in your coupe with an H9. Several forum members have ditched their H11 HID kits in favour of the H9 and have found more usable light with the H9.

07AccordEx-L

I always thought al projectors were made for HIDs. I've seen a handful of 8G coupes with HIDs and even looking directly at the light I haven't had any problems with them. Can you give any examples of cars that have halogen projectors?

Markus

Sure, the 8th gen Accord coupe has halogen projectors. Many Ford and Mazda cars also have halogen projectors. Mazda, Toyota, Cadillac, too.

There really is a difference between a halogen projector and a HID projector. To the naked eye there may not be much of a difference but optically the two are indeed quite different.

The difference arises because of the different way in which the HID bulb and the halogen bulb produce light.

Many people are fooled by the cutoff of a projector into thinking that because a cutoff is maintained then a light source must be OK. The fact is, however, that's just how projectors work. The light source could be fireflies, a candle, the sun, whatever, and the cutoff will be maintained. The distribution of light below the cutoff will change, however, and this is where (part) of the problem of HID kits comes into play.

Regarding looking at 8th coupes with HID - you have to remember that half the driving population is bothered by glare and the other half is can't understand what the first half is complaining about. The upshot is that you can't determine whether glare is acceptable or not just be looking at a headlight unless you have the training to do so (and even those of us trained in such matters often err in saying lights are OK when they're not). This is why headlights standards exist and it's the very reason why HID kits are unsafe and illegal.

Hope this helps.

If I saw wheels like that on an Accord coupe I'd expect to see a carpeted dash, fuzzy dice and hydraulics. Oh yeah... and a sound system that made a tsss tsss tsss noise as it drove ny from the 10 tweeters in the doors and dash.

The OP's wheels are not god awful ugly, seen worse, the need wider and slightly thicker rubber on them.

What is this H9 you speak of?

It's a variation of H11. Significantly more lumens for just a small increase in power consumption and it's photometrically compatible with H11. The mounting tab of the H9 will require a small cut to it to ensure the bulb fits into the H11 headlight and it takes most people no more than a minute or two to do this.
