I do it every few years. It keeps the inside of the doors cleaner, and prevents rust (for us northerners anyway). We're too used to old GM cars that rust everywhere, including the doors!!! lol

View Full Version : Anyone Wax the Insides of the Doors? notsoslimshady 04-27-2006, 06:24 PM I do it every few years. It keeps the inside of the doors cleaner, and prevents rust (for us northerners anyway). We're too used to old GM cars that rust everywhere, including the doors!!! lol Trip 04-28-2006, 04:50 AM Heck ya! Not only in the door jams, but on the door itself where you can see painted metal, in the gas cap area, around the trunk and the trunk lid, too. And don't forget the wheels! Not only alloys, but even the wheel covers benefit from a coat of wax. It will help keep brake dust off and and discoloring. I'll do everything pretty at least twice a year but the door areas whenever I wax and the wheels, more often than I wax. When ever I wash the car, I'll hit them with Mequiar's quick wax. PReventive maint is the way to go. Rogue Two 04-28-2006, 05:54 AM Yeap - you are not alone! shamrock 04-28-2006, 07:09 AM :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Anyone remove the glass mirror from the side-mirrors to clean behind them? Anyone take the leather off the seats to vaccum the sponging?? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ericrwalker 04-28-2006, 09:25 AM Hey look everybody, Shamrock is making fun of someone other than me. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Anyone remove the glass mirror from the side-mirrors to clean behind them? They have more electronics and explosive devices in them than the space shuttle. :paranoid: RTexasF 04-28-2006, 10:41 AM I wipe out the doorjambs and painted portions on the inside of the doors every time I wash the car. The areas are wet from the car wash so I spritz them with FK1 #425 and wipe down with a microfiber towel. Wipe down and shine in one easy step! Conundrum no orbital?? Get it "conundrum" - "orbital!" RTexasF 04-28-2006, 02:30 PM Orbital but dual action: Porter Cable 7336 notsoslimshady 04-29-2006, 05:38 AM I've unbolted the seats in my Prelude to shampoo the carpet. :D Wouldn't do that with a newer seat. That's great!! :lmao:    I take off my wheels to clean the inside of them I do that regularly, too. Well, used too. In the fall / spring when I would swap the snow tires and and the summer wheels, I would clean everything inside and out and put on a coat of wax. Now that I'm in NC and won't be switching to snow tires, I still might do this. jamesr 05-16-2006, 05:08 AM I'm pretty anal, I do this all of the time. Once a month I'll take my wheels off and clean those up too, then put a good coat of wax on them. SSMV6 05-16-2006, 08:54 AM At least once a year I take the wheels off, clean and wax them both sides. :screwy: Doesn't everyone? :dunno: :D I do this to keep the wheels looking nice and clean. So far so good.. I don't see much dirt/tar on the inside of the wheels. Door jambs get wiped down every month or so. They don't get exposed to the outside much so they won't rust. Hood and trunk seals get wiped down every month or two. crosstourer27 02-02-2010, 03:45 PM Heck ya! Not only in the door jams, but on the door itself where you can see painted metal, in the gas cap area, around the trunk and the trunk lid, too. But it seems (I'm not positive!) to have a bad side effect. It seems to bring on the troublesome door/window squeak/rattle. As a result I've stopped waxing those areas in order to maintain quiet for as long as possible. shogun 02-05-2010, 09:29 AM I guess I'm the only one that waxes the inside of the fuel tank cover! |
