: 2012 Honda Civic Si Video Highlights New Features With Animated Graphic Novel Style

Honda has just released a new video highlighting the many changes to the 2012 Civic Si.
Rather than bore us with chatty engineers, they've wrapped the info up in an animated graphic novel-style mini-flick. If you try real hard, you might even be able to discern a plot.
But enough of analyzing the piece like it's the subject matter of a summer term college course paper, what's important is that the new Civic gets 201-hp (and a big increase in torque), a new infotainment system, plus a power meter and VTEC light, both of which are gimmicky, but also kind of cool.

ikethegreat 12-15-2011, 04:07 AM That actually looks quite nice.
stiller fan 12-15-2011, 07:31 AM it looks nice til you see neonesque in the back end of the car.
namegoeshere 12-15-2011, 07:53 AM I see nothing nice about it.
8th gen > 9th gen still, design-wise.
thisaznboi88 12-15-2011, 08:10 AM ^ I agree. Gen8 > Gen9. The extra tq is nice, but I like high reving it to 8k
Dreamacre 12-15-2011, 09:05 AM Looks like Honda is trying anything to get people to like the Civic again. Unfortunately, they won't fire the current design team that is helping Honda fall to American Motors status of car styling.
ElectricFuzz 12-15-2011, 11:12 AM This is really old news. I don't know why people are just responding to this now.
Anyway, I would never buy a Civic but I definitely prefer the 9th Gen over the 8th Gen. The curved quarter window (like the 8th Gen Accord's) makes it look so much better.

Those Neon taillights are on the Civic sedan. The Civic coupe's taillights look more like the current Accord's taillights.

This isn't the first time I've heard this. You're only losing about 1000RPM to redline; 7K is still high.
What's the point of revving it to 8K if it doesn't go anywhere? Is it more fun? To me, it's more fun when you punch it and you get pulled back in the seat hard (which I still doubt this Civic does). But that's something that more torque at lower RPM would do.
You get more power and (a lot) more torque at lower RPM with the SI.
namegoeshere 12-15-2011, 06:33 PM Honda hasn't even come out with a re- re-design for the 9th gen Civic yet and Kia is already planning a new Forte after a short 4 year model cycle.
The current Kia Forte came out in 2008 as a 2009 model. Now there's talk about Kia possibly releasing a redesigned 2013 model next year.

Just when Honda thought they might have been catching up.....
Throw in the Gamma 1.6 T-GDI (210 hp and 195 lb-ft torque) Hyundai's going to put into the Veloster and this thing will be fun to drive.
GuidoCoupeV6 12-16-2011, 04:46 AM Im confused i thought Honda was under fire for this design since consumers hate the styling and if memory serves me correct Honda said it would do an early refresh is that on par with the next gen Accord? - :dunno:
Either way Honda has alot on its plate for 2013 Models! :paranoid:

They are. This is the 2012 model, not the 2013. This is really old news but someone bumped the topic up and everybody started replying.

This car the current one on the road has a lot of similarities with 8th gen Accord coupe. The grill and the lights! they clearly copied Honda design for their own design of this car.
Anyways 9th gen civic coupe is not a bad looking car after seeing couple of them on road. They look nice ! I have said this before but here I go again the 8th gen civic when it first came out what did people say (including me) ?coupe looks ugly but now all I see more and more of them on roads and they are being modified and I'm actually starting to like them more now.
namegoeshere 12-16-2011, 11:41 PM And you can say that Honda copied BMW (and Infiniti) with the 8th gen Accord. Same with the Acura ZDX and BMW X6. Your point is? If you haven't realized it yet, all car manufacturers borrow design cues from other car manufacturers.
Look at all the manufacturers copying Audi's LED headlights and halos/angel eyes.

Why would you say this ? its doesn't look like a BMW or Infinite to me:dunno:
Same with the Acura ZDX and BMW X6.
They copied the concept of X6 but came out with their own design

My point was they fully copied Honda :D. And yes your right! manufactures copy each other but they copy the technology or concept of whatever it is but they come out with their own stuff.
As for the Audi's leds yes they copied the leds part of the headlights to use it in their own DRL's
Artema 12-17-2011, 03:32 PM Check out the Benz C250 coupe I think it is, looks a LOT like the Accord coupe from the profile. Also the sedans look like the higher end BMW sedans.
I think the Civic looks like someone squished the front part.

It's that quarter window that makes the C-Class coupe look like the Accord coupe. I think the curved quarter window can make the side profiles of almost any car look so much better.
