This blinking red warning light is just below the odometer reset button. It is blinking on and off when the car is locked - this is not the status button that blinks nearer the radio. I have opened and shut the doors, trunk and hood in case the system was thinking that one of those was ajar or open, burt this does not seem to be the problem. Any ideas out there? Can I solve this w/o going to the dealer? Thanks!!

Is it blinking all the time? Even when you're in the car with it started?

Read page 194 of your owner's manual. That light flashes to tell you that the system is set. Like the one near the stereo unit "anti-theft". As I understand it, the dash one is for the whole security system, the one at the unit is for the stereo.

So if it fashes when your car is locked, then it's doing it's job! Tell it "thank you" & give your car a hug!:D

Thanks for the responses. Feferic, no, the blinking only occurs when the doors are locked and the engine is not running.

Princess, you may be right, but the reason I inquired about this is the fact that I've had the car for a year and this is a new phonomenon - the blinking has never occurred before! Does the blinking cease after the 15 seconds when the security system sets itself? My light just keeps on blinking. Thanks, folks!

We hadn't even noticed the light until you said something. The 15 seconds is to give passengers a chance to get out if you're "trigger happy" with your remote. The light stays on. My guess is that you hadn't noticed it before since normally we're on the outside when locking up. I don't think it goes off at all while locked up. At least that's how I understand the explanation on page 194.

I'm just glad there was an answer for you!!:)
