: How NOT to Park Your Odyssey!
Rogue Two 05-18-2006, 08:49 AM The short story:
The wife took the girls and dog for a walk around lunchtime yesterday. When she came home, she saw police and fire vehicles at the neighbor's house (we live at the intersection of two cul-de-sacs, one of which goes uphill). A women left her Odyssey running, unattended, about 4 houses up from ours. :dunno: Apparently it either popped out of gear (or was never put in gear), rolled down my street (about 300'), across the intersecting street and into the side of my neighbor's garage.
Fortunately, no one was home, in the van or in the way, so no one got hurt.

Hey we all have our blonde moments, some are more embarassing and costly than others.
Considering that Ody just barrelled through a wall, it held up pretty well
avexnsx 05-18-2006, 09:32 AM maybe the ody liked the other garage more!
glad no one was hurt... and it must be a quiet neighbourhood considering no one tried to do anything...
princess 05-18-2006, 09:33 AM Sure glad no one was hurt!!
I'm waiting for the '78 Chevy to come through our garage!! He keeps parking it closer & closer!! :paranoid:
Coil99 05-18-2006, 09:43 AM Apparently it either popped out of gear (or was never put in gear),
Or maybe the Odyssey had enough of the garage's taunting and wanted to teach it a lesson it wouldn't forget. :dunno:
CM5sedan 05-18-2006, 10:30 AM hhaha. yea. good to know no one hurt.
RTexasF 05-18-2006, 10:40 AM I'd say 9979 are NOT her lucky numbers!
Rogue Two 05-18-2006, 10:40 AM glad no one was hurt... and it must be a quiet neighbourhood considering no one tried to do anything... Actually, it is a quiet neighborhood (when the kids are in school) and one of the reasons we moved there! The only person who saw the whole thing, and was unable to catch the van despite her trying, was the woman who owned it! It must have been surreal to watch your van barrel down the street and into someone's house! :lmao:
Oh, I forgot to mention that that intersection is the location of a school bus stop and had this happened 15 minutes later, the AM Kindergarten bus would've been there - along with parents meeting/picking up their kids. The timing of this incident was amazing!
greg-ster 05-18-2006, 10:43 AM Am I the only one that thinks Honda should use that as a commercial?
The Odyssey: Built Honda tough

samsonskeg 05-18-2006, 02:10 PM that or they wanted to get rid of the oddy and get an accord :)
Accord4Life 05-18-2006, 02:18 PM Wow. This reminds me of how my 03' Accord got into it's frist Accident. It was a stick, and I parked it on a hill and while in a rush I forgot to set the e brake, left it in neautral too (doh!) it then rolled down the hill harreling into an industrial dumpster, then into a tree. I had my wheels curbed though so it stopped at the tree. Mine sure was worse than that. The whole drivers side of my car was replaced.
Glad no one was hurt.
Mike
jamesr 05-18-2006, 03:25 PM did you guys ever see the toyota hilux demolition on top gear???
Watching that definitely made me want a Toyota pickup. I may just buy one as a beater to haul stuff around in. The Civic gets paid off in 3 months so it shouldn't be a problem

SSMV6 05-19-2006, 09:28 AM So is that a homeowners claim or an auto insurance claim?
Auto insurance since it's the Ody's owner's fault.
si_speed 06-20-2006, 03:01 PM Look at it this way. Now the Ody is slammed. How many soccer moms do you know with lowered mini vans? :D
James.uk 08-02-2006, 05:48 PM Nothin wrong with the car parking.. just that the builder din make the door wide enuff!! lmho... :lmao: :D
