My 1985 Accord SEi glove box will not latch closed.I have no idea what the problem is.Can anyone help me?Thanx...Larry

that happened with my mom's old accord (1990)..... our mechanic found one cheap at time, but it was a different color than original.....

my recommendation: start calling junkyards to find a used part...... i doubt that they go bad often.....

If the mechanism is still operating it may just need an adjustment. On the older Accords, the latch and the handle/lock pieces should be held in by screws. Try backing the screws off a little and then repositioning everything so they engage more precisely.

Mu 1989 Prelude needed a *firm* push to close it or it wouldn't latch. I adjusted it and it be working just fine now.

If not, like Ben said, check a junkyard first and see if you can find a used piece.

It's most likely the latch being broken from the years of use. You can test it with a small screwdriver to see if it latches. If it doesn't, then you'll need a new one.
