View Full Version : Don't Laugh: V6 6MT vs S2000

Okay -- I'm being serious now -- I know it's more of a chalk-and-cheese comparison than even apples and  ...but I wanna know --

Any V6 6MT owners out there wind up buying/leasing their cars only after whittling their 'car buying brackets' down to the S2000 and the Accord V6 6MT? I'd like to hear your stories.

I had it down to those two models in my last car buying experience...

I ended up choosing the Accord. It was agonizing, to say the least. I'd had lots of experience with a friend's S2000 -- and it was addictive; way better than any Z or even the [dearly departed] Supra Turbo. I was ready to rock, but then I started thinking...

The payment would've worked out to about $100/mo higher -- which I was willing to pay -- but where I live, as a daily driver (I'm not going to get a second car/truck for the wintertime) would've a) stranded me at home for at least two weeks out of any given year, b) rendered any practical cargo-carrying capacity null and void, and c) made me paranoid to park it in my neighborhood (which looks like the one Snoop Dogg grew up in). Even with the aforementioned factors, it was not an easy choice --

[Sigh...] I love my V6 6MT...but I just can't help wondering. Anyone else have a similar tale to tell?

wow...two great but very different cars...I have to admit when I first saw the title I thought you meant which would win in a race...rofl :lmao:

When I was looking I had it down to a 2006 RSX Type-S and the 2006 Accord EX V6 6spd Coupe. Chose the Accord as it gave me more power, ability to use 87 instead of 91, cheaper insurance, and I got it cheaper out the door (plus I always thought the Type-S was overpriced for what it offered). New civic wasn't an option as I still don't care too much for the coupe, and also I'd never buy the first model year of a new generation car.

I wanted a G35, but couldn't swallow the extra costs...plus I'm paranoid about where I park my Accord, so I can only imagine how I would be with a G35...lol.

I actually came from an S2000/Camry to an '06 Accord. I've been downgrading I had an M3 before the S2000 to save on gas/maintenance/insurance, etc.

Not surprising to have a choice like that. My choice last summer had a similar theme-- Accord vs. CRV. It sounds like you did what I did--I had decided that I liked Honda (for the reasons we all know) but had to determine whether I wanted a sedan or a small SUV. Admittedly, your choice was more fun than mine! My wife and baby would no go for the two-seater--I didn't even bother bringing it up.

I traded my '05 S2000 in on an '06 Accord Coupe 6MT. I do a lot of highway commuting...up to 110 miles per day. I used to drive the S2000 for a few days a week and then swap out my F150 SuperCrew 4x4 for the rest of the week whenever I found the S too fatiguing.

Well with the current gas gouging I was forced to drive the S everyday... and an everyday highway cruiser it is not! Ultimately what got to me was the noise. In an S you cannot hold a conversation with either the top up or down. I have a blue tooth headset and like to take care of calls while I'm driving. It was really difficult to conduct any business while in the S.

The Accord caught my attention because of the fabulous interior and the superb power delivery with the 6 speed. Its quiet and has a pretty good highway ride. Its a good looking, comfortable and classy car.

All of my friends think I'm insane. Its almost as if I broke up with a supermodel. As most folks who are a little older know....there's more to a relationship than sex....even if it is with a supermodel. I think I'll stick with my 'hot girl next door" acccord and stay away from the "loud flashy (and somewhat skanky) supermodel S" for a while.

I hope someone on here understands, even if my buddies don't.

My boss has an S2000. :notworthy Actually, it is his wife's car. :D We always admire it on the days he gets to drive it to work, but then lament items like replacement tire cost and having every punk on the street want to race you. I have always found the cabin of the S2000 a bit to intimate, espeically as I have gotten older. Bending and sliding into an S2000 after years of just stepping into an Odyssey and my pickup is more difficulat each time I visit the showroom and drool :naughty:   over the S2000 on display.

If I hit the lottery, it is the perfect weekend car  , but for daily commuting the Accord wins. After all, every Accord my family has ever owned just fit like a good pair of jeans.

In the end, the refined interior of the Accord, and the too much buzzy and loud S2000 made my decision.
