Cleaning up older discolored headlight assemblies.

Sometimes older headlights get discolored with age. I thought that mostly it was condensation and 'rusting' on the inside. Not always! If you have plastic headlight assemblies, it's possible the discoloration might be on the outside. In many cases, this can easily be cleaned up.

I used Meguiar's #17 cleaner and #10 polish on my brother's Prelude. Again with the crappy camera of mine :D but I think you can see the huge difference between the passenger and driver side headlights. The passenger side was just as yellow and cloudy. The difference is more pronounced in person. This was after a "light" application just to see what it would do. (Always start gentle when working with something new! )

The pass side is perfectly clear again - minus stone chip pitting.

I'm gonna go back and do the pass side again and of course the driver side.

Notice I have 'rusting' in quotes. I know there's no metal. What happens is condensation will escalate the peeling of the reflective surfaces in the head light (it's baked on, it's not a metal finished/polished surface.) You end up with brown deposits and a pitted surface. It looks like "rust".

Looks good. The powerball and plastic polish makes this a quick job too.
