I've noticed that when driving if I have one or both rear windows down the wind creates a loud, harmonic, chopping sound that is almost painful.
The only way I've found to get it to stop is to crack a front window or the moonroof.
Anyone else noticed this or am I just in tune with the car?

I think this is a fairly common problem spread over lots of diff makes/model cars. I believe it to be caused by the air trying to exit the car and enter the car at the same time, a bit like blowing into a bottle.? .. Allowing a directional flow of air from front to back should solve the problem.. :)
Try.. Having all the air vents open and fan on full with the rear window open.. Open one rear, and crack open the opp side front window, or.... as in my own case. I keep all windows closed, tilt the sunroof up, and put the fan on full directed to the floor of the car..
Above 55 mph I just settle for having the fan on full blast as the tilted sun roof gets too noisy at speed.
Oddly enough my ZX does this far more than the Accord, this may be due to the ZX interior being squarer/oblong i.e. less curvy than the Accord interior partly due to the ZX being a hatcback.. :dunno:

That's called "wind buffeting" and is common in almost every car out there. Nothing wrong with your car, and nothing unusual about it.

Was thinking rapid change in in-cab air pressure. In-rush of air can only fill a space so much before the opposite force pushes back. If you have a sunroof, tilt it open, or crack the front windows to reduce the "buffeting" effect.

You guys hit the nail on the head. Never have ONLY any one or two windows that are directly next to each other (both rear window example) open. I usually use the combinations listed above. My favorite was sunroof all the way open with one of the rear window open...it created a swirl effect inside the cabin but wasn't noisy.
My Passat experienced wind buffeting with the sunroof open in the fully retracted position. It was almost painful to the ears. A window had to be cracked at speed when the roof was open. To minimize the problem, VW changed the sunroof switch so that it wouldn't open all the way at first. You had to give it an extra twist to open it the extra few inches.
I have this happen with both rear windows open and down as far as they can go. It also happens when I have the sunroof fully open and am travelling in a certain direction, usually east or west (weird I know, but it happens). I just crack another window if it happens, rarely do I have both rear windows down for anything unless theres 2 people in the back seat wanting them down.
