Anybody ever been to a Dealers New Owner Clinic? Can a reasonably knowledgeable car nut learn anything there? Or, are these things aimed at the people that don't bother to read the owners manual?

My reaction is the latter. My Dealer gives out their free lifetime state inspection cards at the clinics, but after my fourth clinic [and new Honda] even they just started sending me the card in the mail !

BTW, I suspect we owner's manual readers might actually be in the minority.

I suspect you are right about reading the owners manual.

I agree it's for people who don't read the manual. The crowd came up with questions like "why does my car roll after I put it in park." They also told us about the engine dipstick, where it is and what it does. Oh joy! But hey there was gunna be food, so I signed up for 12 people lol.

Bruhahahahaha your to much BENJ......Was it a buffet???? Or steak w/wine tasting and import cigars for after..ahhhhhhh.

Anything like that is basically to ease the unknowing into a realm they have never been(UNDER THE HOOD ) OH NO NOT UNDER THE HOOD......................................

Actually it's all about marketing ... Give you that warm and fuzzy feeling that your important to them.... Not all are that way but the majority are...............

It amazes me that approx 20% of vehicles I look at O-Manual is in file cabinet in house and 50% of manuals in glove box have never been looked at...

The biggest kick I get is when you open hood and leaves are all around cowl panel. If vehicle owner is their they start cleaning out...hmmmm(I guess you don't open hood much!!!)

Just adding my 2 cents.....

I1:)

Nope it was a finger food "dinner." Speaking of leaves under the cowl, I had one guy show me a '01 Odyssey in such bad shape. He said the car had been parked for 6 months with no movement, that the rear windows had been open the whole time and it had rained, and there were leaves all over the interior and under the hood. I offered him $4000 under good condition bluebook private party, but he didn't go for it. Wonder why, I was giving him a pretty good deal for the condition of his junk :)
