Assuming it does what its name is. Conrtols the idle through air control)

Problem: Once in a while, my revs jump up and down and then the rpms dont slowly go down to a stable idle but turn off. this happens about 2 times a month.

I assume its the IAC needs to be cleaned from what i been reading around. What do you guys think? I have about 108k. V-6 2000. And if you know how to clean it please tell. thanks alot. :) and do you guys know how much a helms manual shoud costs? or if theres a better manual which one?

Yes that could be problem or throttle butterfly sticking.....
Remove air intake to access and clean with Throttle body cleaner.... NO CARB CLEANER it will damage IAC..
Yes Helms is the best.. Theirs are real manuals....

Is there a way to plug the IAC and control the idle manually? I hate to start the car in the morning and have it jump to 1500RPM with no oil.

Thanks I1. I was hoping you would read the post. Is there a site you know of that explains problems and parts for the car and what it does? I read alot about the car from www.howstuffworks.com but its a general view. Like what is the buttefly sticking?

When you remove air intake and actuate throttle by hand you will see it on inside opening and closing + you will see varnish and carbon build up.... clean off and see how it works then...... also start and spray into throttle assy....
The 6th gen V6 also has issues with EGR ports clogging and causing engine to die after starting... Which sounds like it may possibly be a likely culprit for you too....
I can't remember if Princess has posted a TSB for that or I saw it on another Forum?
Mine did it a couple of times last year but I ran Seafoam in fuel a couple of times and issue has not occurred again.... almost 10k miles since problem...

Hope this helps

P.S. I'll try and find links and post

There's a cold start bulletin # 03-085 that is the replacement of the PCM for cold idle problems. I can't post it, but I can send it if you PM your email. It may sound like your problem.....

The EGR one is in the factory direct page 2 posted by Ward.

You can see if the PCM one is already under the bulletin section. I've put several & don't remember if it's there.
