I just bought a 2003 Honda Accord EX V-6. Love it so far, but I'm only getting around 17 miles per gallon in town. I'm interested in what other people are getting.
Thanks!
Thanks!

View Full Version : What kind of Milage do you get? feferic 02-18-2003, 09:26 AM I just bought a 2003 Honda Accord EX V-6. Love it so far, but I'm only getting around 17 miles per gallon in town. I get 21-22 mpg in town and 30-32 mpg on the highway. ando22 02-24-2003, 08:55 AM I'm getting 22 to 25 mpg in a new Accord EX (4 cyl) according2me 02-27-2003, 10:35 PM It should get better once you've accumulated the necessary break-in miles and the weather warms up. Do they oxygenate the gas in your area during winter months? I have an 01 I-4 and have averaged 20-21 city and 30-34 interstate cruising at 70-75mph with an automatic trans. feferic 02-28-2003, 06:32 AM I'm not sure if they oxygenate the gas or not? I do know that I've been using gas with ethanol added (10% I think) ... I'm wondering if that might be some if the problem? according2me 02-28-2003, 09:14 AM I've read where others from the frozen tundra say ethanol does reduce mpg, but being from the South, I have no firsthand experience with it. Again, spring is not far off. The warmer weather and a few miles should help. What grade fuel do you use. srpbep 04-17-2003, 07:39 PM Have a 2001 V-6. Most of my driving is freeway, 70 miles R/T daily and 60 is freeway. The first 30,000 miles were disappointing, getting 24-25 mpg. Complained to dealer but to no avail. Then "all of a sudden" the mileage jumped and it routinely gets 27.4 - 28.0 mpg. NO EXPLANATION. The variation of 0.5 mpg in current mileage can be attributed to traffic jams, additional miles on surface streets, etc (I don't keep track). What I can not figure out is why the 2+ mpg jump at roughly 30K on the odo!! Driving habits have not changed (use cruise control most of the time). Does anyone have an explanation???? Effen Fish 04-18-2003, 06:39 AM I've been getting 31 mpg with my I4/auto from the first tank, commuting 35 miles each way. 2000 miles on the odo. Now that I had the car for a month, I checked my tires and found that they were over-inflated by 6 psi (were 36, supposed to 29/30). I adjustd the pressure and will see if there is a major difference. Yes, the tires were "cool" because I hadn't driven that day, ambient temp about 75 F. The spare was under-inflated by 10 psi, so check those tires now that it is warmer. dmatos 06-02-2003, 01:13 PM I get about 30-32 in city/highway driving (to and from work) it is about 80 percent highway and 20% backroads. Just got back from a long road trip (about 1,400 miles) and I averaged aroud 40 miles per gallon on regular unleaded. 2000 EX, Coupe, Manual Trans. (4 cyl) - 65k miles. No tuneups or anything, everything is original.
