View Full Version : We just keep growing so upgraded hosting

Well as our numbers increase so does our bandwidth. You see, we have been going over every month for about 6 months. This usually happens the last week of the month. Well we are now hitting the limit half way through the month, so I just upgraded the hosting from our regular account, jumped passed advanced account and went right into supreme account. Hopefully that will hold us for a while. If not, no big deal, I'll just upgrade again or find a even bigger account with another hosting company. You guys and gals just keep posting away.

Any thought yet of offical "Drive Accord" swag that we could buy to help defray some of the hosting costs? We could spread the word and built the base as we "tool around" in our Accords.

We talked about stickers and plate frames a while ago, not much happened to that.

I just took my dealers front plate and rear plate frame off tonight. After three weeks, I figure they got their free rolling advertisement from me. However, I would roll down the road promoting Drive Accord, be it a front plate, a rear plate frame, and/or a tasteful window sticker.

My rear plate looks so "unfinished" :dunno: without a frame. I put on a Mark Martin AAA #6 plate out front tonight, but its red actually clashes with my Redondo Red ride, so I need something different! :naughty:

I would LOVE a white window "sticker"!!! I've even thought about having one of the companies on ebay make me one. (like I did for the Tink on my window)

Thanks Wards!!!

Yes. We should either get a tasetful sticker or License Plate Covers. I'd buy. Well heck...maybe we should just donate....

If I find any extra time I'd investigate into the matter and see if we could get something going. Maybe a small sticker, would be easier for me to ship and cheaper too ya know? :)

I figure the whole bandwidth thing has a lot to do with those wretched Yahoo and Google spiders

Very nice, I'd put that in my sail window (if it fits that is :D)

If we ordered 100 for a start, it would get things rolling, right?

The only reason I haven't just done it is no one decided on the design. So I guess as long as it has the DA stuff you should just go for it. If you find a company (local for you would save shipping them to you & you have more choices out your way, Ben) I'll help with the cost. If you brought them out to me, I'd do the shipping out to the members that want them. :dunno: If you don't want to deal with it.

Let me know......

How about t-shirts? I wouldn't mind one with the DA logo across the back. :naughty: I know that I am not a big fan of putting stickers on my car although I wouldn't be against a license plate frame.... or maybe I should let you guys do your thing, don't mean to intrude.

BenjiBoy650

If you guys really wanted a T-shirt you could try www.cafepress.com

BTW that logo I posted is free for anybody to snatch up...don't think it's copyrighted or anything. If you can bring it to your local print shop or Kinko's or something and have one made for yourself, maybe :dunno:

You don't even drive an Accord  I don't know where this sticker would fit on the car...it would be tacky to have it across the rear bumper or something but if it was across the top of the rear window it probably wouldn't be seen. I realized the sail windows in the rear doors are kind of too small to put anything in.

princess
06-21-2006, 03:38 PM
I think I would put it above Tink on the back window. Across the top. I don't do stickers on paint.

Yeah, Tshirts would be easy.... I've done many with just the iron on things that I've printed on the computer. Um, I'll have to think about it. They have the white iron on stuff now too. So you can have white letters to match the "sticker" on a black Tshirt.

Of course, today black doesn't sound like a good color to wear.... it's 103 right now!!! :D I'm lovin' it!!!

Hey folks -- I here is a link to the sticker that CrownVic.net has. That is just a regular CVN sticker. If you donate the $15, you get one that says "Member" on it. So $4 sticker only or $15 for a "Member" sticker. I am in for a Membership.

http://www.crownvic.net/coolstuff.shtml

We could do something similarly subtle, if the goal is to have it fit in the rear sail window or corner of the rear window. Only funny thing is all the people with "DAN" (DriveAccord.Net)on thier car if it is models the same.

I like Ben's logo, too!! Maybe even as a stacked logo that is rectangular for a front plate:

Drive
Accord.net

But, more stylized than I can do here.

That is one possibility. Or offset slightly with a little style so that the "D" forms off the top of the "A" below it. But I am certainly not a graphic artist, so I offer suggestions and hope we have a talented artist or two in the forums.

:naughty: I might have to play around with some ideas in Word or Photo. :naughty: :lmao:

I agree. And something similar in a stacked design would make a nice license plate (and tee-shirt logo).

Or as I look at the header of this page, our Blue logo looks pretty cool.

I like this logo too but does anyone else think the "V" in "DRIVE" looks a bit funny? :dunno:

That's pretty much "our" V.... it's at the top of the page.... just less pointy on the angled leg.

I'll take some. Who ever gets them, I'll pay 20 bucks for at least 3 of them & the shipping. I know that's probably more than they cost, but it could help a little with getting a small supply going.

Hmmm that might cost a good bit of money....all the other decals I've seen on forums are small, made for the sail window. :dunno:

princess
07-04-2006, 11:53 AM
You're right, the "sail" size would be more versitile so more people could/would use it. So they're about 2" X 4" or so?

So I'll send you 20 for a start. Just email me you mailing address. I may send more, I' haven't discussed an amount with my other half yet.

You might be able to set up a paypal account, so we can get money to you easier..... It takes a few days to get it all set & funds are available within 3 days of transfer. Since many companies accept that form of payment, it may be easier all the way around once it's set. Whatcha think?

Are you guys talking about static cling decals? I would be interested in one of those (removeable is GREAT!!)

flcma99
07-06-2006, 09:21 AM
Will an cling on the inside of a tinted window show up? :dunno:

I am more of a fan of an outside sticker (or cling, I suppose). If they are added to the glass the removal is relatively easy with window cleaner and a flat razor blade. I know that is how I have adorned by last few automobiles and then cleaned them up as tastes changed (or trade in time neared).

What kind of quanity are we looking at? If we can get to the 500 (or 1,000) quantity the bang for the buck is greater. If we can absorb or fund the upfront cost.

princess
07-06-2006, 09:34 AM
I put my Tink on the outside..... I think it's a sticky-cling (some adheavesive). I won't put anything on the de-frosters on the inside.

Things on glass come off easy when you want them to. My Tink has stuck through LOTS of washings.

BenjiBoy650
07-06-2006, 01:48 PM
I was thinking of an outside cling...but we can't really agree on size.

500 is a LOT...I don't think we're going to distribute that many, unless everybody buys 8-10? :lmao:

princess
07-06-2006, 02:11 PM
Do a poll on 4 basic sizes..... go with the majority. If anyone doesn't want the size picked, then individuals can order their own, I'm sure.

By doing it this way the interested ones can vote.

It will be cheapest to order as many as we need at once. I didn't really study the prices. If they were 36 Sq In, & we rodered 100 of them, what would the estimate be?

BenjiBoy650
07-06-2006, 02:50 PM
According to the site, they will be $4.90 if we order 50, only $2.20 if we order 125.

They make a note that static cling should be used inside only :( I have no tint so having it in or out would not be a problem for me...but back to the drawing board for those with tint.

ItsaHonda
07-06-2006, 05:02 PM
I'd also be interested in a window sail decal, though I do plan to have my windows tinted soon... so I'd need an outside cling or a sticker as well.

I made myself a shirt.... I used the site logo, like the card ideas you posted & printed them on an iron-on....mirrored, of course. I put them on a light blue "girl" style Tshirt. I also put my name & "princess" on the other side. I bought some boy's school uniform pants (like "Dickies....but cheaper). Next Fri. or Sat. I plan to surprise my Prince by getting a ride to his job....then spending the rest of the afternoon with him. I'll wear my "uniform". Well, unless it looks too silly on. I figured on blending in down there....not that he'd get into any trouble. They all wear navy blue uniform pants.... some wear blue shirts, some white depending on their job. He doesn't know I've been working on this.

If it gets really warm again I may change my mind. I don't want to be sitting around down there when it's 110 in the shop!! :paranoid:

Everyone, Right now they have a special. 50% off for the stickers right now if we order 100 of them. They are 1"x5." That makes them $45 for the entire lot. I think that is pretty reasonable. Anybody think we should bite? It is the same picture as Ben picked above.

as for buisness cards, i recently purchased a hundred buisness cards (with gloss on front and curved corners) from overnightprints.com for 10 dollors (with a special coupon code of holiday or something..i can find out if need be)

note: the curved corners was an extra thing i added on

the cards have yet to arrive ( i think they were suppose to show up via fed ex today, but i have yet to see them)
