OK, the first few months we owned this car the A/C would forget to come on sometimes when running errands.... a store stop here, a store stop there. Something was fixed by doing a an ECM update. I've been a happy camper & so has my car.

Today it's 103 outside. The driver's side temp is set to 71, the passenger is at 73. I went on 3 short errands. On the last one, guess what..... the A/C was blowing warmer air. It also had that "just turned off the A/C, but the fans still blowing smell". Like humidity. Just like before!!

I can't give my prince a call just yet, he's at the doctor today. So I thought I'd give you all a crack at it.

Think I just need my ECU updated again? :dunno:

I only have 2 months left on my warranty & if there's something major, like the rest of you, I'd prefer for it to go out now.

I hate all these computerized stuff, in the end you get nothing but problems, there's nothing like the manual climate control. Do you all really believe that if you set a different temp for driver and passenger it actually works? :dunno: You are seated two or three feet appart from the passenger, and it is a single ambient, how could it be possible to "split" the air in two different "virtual rooms"? IMHO it's all marketing blablabla

I so hope that you get it repaired promptly. I would be miserable with no A/C not to mention how wet the seat back would get!

I use it all the time and it works great! I usually like it a few degrees cooler than my significant other. :)

BTW, Princess, I don't think another computer update would work, but if there's one available, why not give it a shot? :)

I think our '05's ac is not as cold as our '98. Don't know why, but it feels that way. BTW Princess, it's gonna get up to 104 or 105 today...great day for an afternoon walk!!!! Hope it cools down within the next few days as I have to go to Pleasant Hill to install a backup camera in a truck! Here in SF we usually get the evening breeze off the ocean so it's bearable and heatwaves only last 2-3 days.

My TL Has excellent A/C! It's already hot/humid outside, and I got in sat on the burning BLACK bleather in my BLACK TL (I'm too in love with the Color!) changed all the Auto Climate to the lowet and set it. 2 Minutes car was colder than my house! I like the Rear Airvents :).

Good Luck Princess. Think something hit the Freon line? You could have a leak...
Mike.

Well, I told the "authority" last night. He just shrugged & I think he figures it's my imagination this time. I'll just have him drive it for the errands this weekend. :D

When it did this not long after buying it, I told him about it & nothing was done till it did it for him. Tech or not, he's a hubby first!! :lmao:

He's probably thinking that I'm expecting too much when it's parked in the sun & it's 103 outside. But the A/C did come on, it went off & smelled off. I needed new Xrays on the spine today & it worked fine. Today we should be at least 105.... but it was 85 degrees at 8:30 this morning, so who knows... :dunno:

He only said that he didn't know how the ECU would stop communicating with the climate control. Well, duh! I didn't expect him to know HOW, just fix it!!! :lmao:

He had a rough day. I'll approach it again on a better one.

I think it needs to learn how to communicate all over again. Like before. I didn't get any lights before either. I guess I should check the other things on the list..... I think one was the gear position indicator. I don't watch that, so I'll have to check it out.

I'm rarely wrong about my own car & it's symptoms.... I just haven't dealt with many things on this one.

Yesterday he broght home the computer thing that reads the car..... the car told him I'm crazy!! It claims to be communicating just fine & has no record of not.

An interesting note.... if you've had an update on the ECU, they can't redo it. The computer won't let them. It told us the update's the newest & gave no option for doing anything except exit. :dunno:

So now we hope it does it again if it's going to & before the first week of August, so it's still under it's 36 months!! :paranoid:

I did sit in the garage starting & turning it off & it worked fine after about 15 attempts. So I"ll just pay attention on my errands. :dunno:

Perhaps on a hot day, the high side pressure being mighty high, and frequent stops and starts made it freak out and a limit switch kicked in. Kind of like how you can't turn your home a/c off and then right back on, it's gotta wait a few minutes?!?!?!? Just speculatin' :dunno:

We've only lost a degree or two here. Still above 100!! :D

We'll be using the Accord for this weekend's errands.... maybe it'll do it for him! I'd complained for several weeks last time before it did it for him before. I hope it doesn't take long this time since I'm running out of warranty!! :paranoid:

Nu-uh, it smelled like it was off too!! :lmao: There's been no flashing to the hotness at this point. :D Even the obilvious 12 year old noticed it. Boy, they're sure in their own world at that age!! :) Then they land on earth again without notice.

If you at least brought it in and had it documented, dontcha think there would be a good chance to be considered for out-of-warranty goodwill service if its on record and it poops out again? That would make once for a legit repair and again that it got tempermental. Might allay any worry about being just a tick away from warranty expriing.

My other thought is the recirc function. It sounds hella hotter than it has been in the Carolinas. If you keep the recirc button pressed in for extended periods - it does help to super cool the cabin but if left on for too long, I read that something can ice over. If that happens the system might shut off until things possibly rectify themselves (much like the compressor turning off in really cold weather.) :dunno:

That's true. I probably should make an appt. Yeah, even I need appointments!

I guess that'll mean I get the Ridgeline for a day!

Yesterday he bought an outdoor misting fan....it's even been too hot to sit in the shady gazebo!!!

It's supposed to go back in the 90's this week, but they've been saying that for 3 days now & it hasn't happened out here yet. The coast got their fog back, so Benji should be happy!!

So happy that I clayed and waxed Sandy in the fog yesterday...wax never did dry but oh well I'll take care of it next weekend with a polish and Megs #26

Even the poor hoses are putting out hot water!! :D I'm still melting..... it's 88 in here!

Sandy? You don't call her by name..... feeling mushy about her now???? :lmao:

I gotta go to sleep....I'm getting a bit nutzo..... I'll post about it when I can! :dunno:

It did it for him a little yesterday!! When it cycles it's almost as if you turned off the A/C, but there's SOME cool air in the vents. He's thinking it's low on freon & will be checking that.
