My car turns off while I'm driving and all of my console lights come on. Once I pull over it starts right back up. I took the car to the Honda Dealership and they changed my Alternator in Feb. It has turned off 5 X since then and I've taken it back to them twice since then. They put in on the machine and no codes show up. I have 117,000 miles on the car and it runs great except for this problem. Any ideas on what the problem may be? :dunno: Thanks!!!

When the car turns off do you notice the green light on the dash with a key flashes...try using your other keys. Normally this is a worn key or heavy keychain issue

The key light does come on but I only have 3 keys on my key chain :dunno:

you think that the key may just be worn out, causing the ignition to lose contact with the chip inside the key? another poster has this same problem....
welcome aboard, btw...

Very common problem on older Accords, the electrical part of the ignition switch goes bad. Watch the lights as you turn the key to on, then to start, do they flicker off and on rapidly? Sometimes it's hard to catch the flicker, but the main contacts in the switch melt.
This was a subject of a recall on the '98 and '99.

The main ignition control unit gets hot and shuts off the fuel pump.It is above the brake pedal.Replace it,Ithink it,s a nine pin connection. That solved my problem with my 2000 accord. It was doing the same thing.
