Letter from American Honda.
Dear Accord Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co, Ltd., has found that certain 1998-1999 Accords do not meet state and federal emissions regulations. During some driving conditions, your vehicle may emit a level of emissions above standards set by the EPA and CARB.
What should you do?
Call any authorized Honda dealer, and make an appointment to have your vehicle updated. The dealer will adjust the air bleed screw on your vehicle's throttle body. This work will be done free of charge. Please plan to leave your vehicle for half a day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.
California Residents - After doing the repair, your dealer will give you a Proof of Correction certificate. Keep this certificate for your records as proof that the product update was completed. Submit this certificate to the DMV only if they request it.
What to do if you feel this notice is in error.
Our records show that you are teh current owner or lessee of a 1998-1999 Accord involved in this update. If this is not the case, or the name/address information is incorrect, please fill out and return the enclosed postage-paid Information Change Card. This will help us update our records.
