We were bored today and decided we'd go somewhere southwest. Perhaps as far as the mountains, weather permitting.

Nice day for such a trip. Blue sky makes the mountains look good in pictures:

Our destination:

I became slightly nervous (about the photos) as the clouds rolled in:

We left relatively late in the morning, so stopped somewhere to get lunch. Car is still clean:

Drove away from the clouds and got a little closer to the mountains (or should I call them the Alps?):

Wanted to stretch my legs (and take a photo of the car):

Another mountain picture (with car):

Yet another mountain picture:

Ooo, a 6 mile gravel road (and we're doing a return trip):

The scene at the end of the gravel road was stunning, the lake was frozen. There were a couple of other lakes with interesting backdrops, but the Accord isin't 4WD:

One of the other lakes (and backdrop), from a distance (in the warm car):

We stopped for a drink on the way home (and to consider a menu). Aaarrrghhh, the car's filthy:

The golf resort where we stopped. There were some insane winds that I struggled against:

Time to deal with that dirt at BP (hey, otherwise it'd be a rushed job with a $2 sponge):

Back home (and protected from the elements):

Alas, the problem of boredom is resolved.
Thanks for reading.

Nice pictures!

We have snow like that in the Sierras still, if you go up high enough. It's melting at such a fast rate that the rivers are swifter than normal & several have drown!

I didn't get surprised by the snow....for me it was that everything is on the wrong side!! :lmao: I'll never get used to that!! Good thing I have no plns to go anywhere that they drive on the WRONG side of the road!! :D

My V6 didn't come with any side badges.... I guess that's another thing that varies from place to place! :dunno:

That and the chrome door handles/door guards... really spruces up the Accord's appearance. Apparently HOA didn't think us Americans were into all of that chrome...

Very nice pictures! (and car!)

dads-car - What is the "island" called that has the city of Christchurch? Is that south NZ? Can you take a boat with your car on it from one island to the other?

Christchurch is about hafway down the east coast of the South Island. It's great having the mountains only two hours away, as well as a few skifields (I live there).

There is a ferry that can take cars etc between islands:

Big images all fixed (host was resizing them).

Ok, so they go by North Island and South Island...got it

When is the best time of year to visit? I was thinking Oct/Nov? Spring time?

For $2188 per person, airfare and 14 nights at the Stamford Plaza (5 star hotel), thats not bad at all!

In my opinion, I think the scenery is best during winter (they're not as harsh as North American winters, but we still find them cold). I think it may also be cheaper, from experience when I lived in Singapore and came back yearly.

That seems to be a very good price.

New Zealand is beautiful!! Great pictures!

I was wondering are those factory foglights?
They look cooler than the factory fogs for us.

Yes, they're all factory lights.

Have to agree that Honda America could have provided a better range...
