My check engine light came on this morning. I searched the forums and can't find an explanation of how to pull codes without a code reader. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Ben. May I suggest this become a sticky.

So the 1st thing your supposed to do is check and make sure your gas cap is tight. so I go out to check. It's not that it's not tight, it's not even there. I keep all my gas receipts in the console (I check mileage on every tank) so I check the last one, it's not that far so I run up to see if they found mt gas cap. I'm thinking how hard it would be for me to forget to put it back on. I do remember it was a hot afternoon on a grocery store parking lot and I was doing a bit of rubber necking so I kind of right it off as a temoprary lapse. I get there and go in and ask if they found one and the young lady behind the counter informs me that she doesn't believe they did. I question the amount of air between her ears, but thank her for checking and go out and check on top of the pumps and around the lot. There's nothing there. I am going to check back with them on Monday morning. So I get home, thinking about the 2 trucks I have behind my garage. As it turns out the gas cap from an '88 Jeep Comanchee fits a '99 Accord. I'm wondering if someone stole it, it seems unlikely, but it is possible. Anyway, thanks.

It might fit but I'm wondering if it seals correctly. IIRC OBD-II cars have pressurized caps or some special deal...it might still trigger a CEL but let's hope not.
