Hey gang, this is the second time I'm posting pics of my ride. In my first thread, I just installed a modified 03-05 front lip. Last week, I received my genuine Mugen sides skirts and rear lip. I need to get new exhaust tips to fill in the cutouts. Enjoy!

Dude,
that is unreal!! Congratulations. I have the same car but in comparison it looks nothing like yours. Please send me where you got it and how much. Was it hard to install, etc...that's beautiful.
The OEM spoiler 03-05 fits? And does it come in this color?
Is that Tein suspension for 05 as well, I asked and supposedly there wasnt available for 06 yet.
Did you mean sideskirts and rear under spoiler instead of lip.
You can PM me at ffiallo68@bellsouth.net

Thanks, I got them from boomplustoys.net, let saw for the side skirt and rear lip (painted), expect to dish out about $1500-1600USD (shipped). And since they're made by Mugen, fitment is absolutely perfect. They have an excellent rep such that I bought them painted. They're made out of abs plastic so more durable than fiberglass.

The OEM front lip will not fit the 06 without heavy modification. Long story short, the lower grill of the 03-05 lip is wider than the 06 (where the lip hangs off of) and the overall bumper length around the 06 is longer than the 03-05.

Haha, I live in Ontario Canada, 45 mins north of Toronto. I want to get the 06 Hybrid tail light lamp unit (just the housing) and the dealership quoted me $315USD each, ridiculous! Then I sent to directpartsconnection.com and was quoted $101.45USD each. Just that I don't seem to trust this site.

BenjiBoy650
07-28-2006, 08:13 AM
$1600 for a lip and 2 side skirts but $630 is too much for taillights? I don't know, I'd be backwards on that one. BTW how much were your front headlights? Can't imagine they were much better.

moistener
07-28-2006, 10:53 AM
They're real Mugen, not many people can say that they're the first 06 in North America with the sides and rears. I personally believe that $630 for the lamp unit is expensive when they can be found cheaper elsewhere. The front headlights were $150.

Thanks Moistener.
I didn't notice that your headlights were different! Are they HIDs as well, or regular 9006?
So you had to have the skirts and rear lip painted by a paint shop?
Whats the breakdown before painting?

moistener
07-28-2006, 05:48 PM
No they're not HIDs, just waiting until I have enough funds for a retro. As for the ss and rear lip, I ordered them painted. I don't remember how much it is unpainted, but you can contact Morris King (info@boomplustoys.net) for a quote.

Thank you for all the props. I got suckered into getting a custom cat back exhaust with 5x8 polished stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers with a 4" OD tip. It'll be 2.5" piping from the cat, Magnaflow resonator (going to be a huge one), split into two 2.25" pipes leading into the mufflers. Oh boy.

On a side note, can you believe that the Honda OEM exhaust tips off the 06 are worth +$200USD each?? Is it plated in white gold or something? wowsers.

Actually, it really depends on which place you get your quotes from... It lists for $211.xx here (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/srchrslts.jsp?search=sku&catcgry1=&inputstate=&srchwords=18310-SDA-A01&vinnosrch=Enter+VIN+Number+)

Nice car, I sent a few questions via PM. This is the ideal look that I want on my 06 accord that I guess I will spend about 3 years of work modding.

How much clearance do you have over speedbumps? Or from front to ground?

Hey everyone, been getting a lot of PM's in regard to what type of wheels I have. All my mods are listed in my signature.

Where I bought things of interest:
Mugen body kit: www.boomplustoys.net
Wheels: www.shopcms.com

As for clearance, the lowest point of my car is 4 inches off the ground (side skirts). My front lip is about 6 inches off the ground.

Car looks great man, very clean looking!

almost 6 years ago, I done up my 2000 Prelude with a full Mugen body kit (knock-off though), 18" Racing Hart C2's, but I didn't skimp on the Mugen parts when I got the Mugen header and exhaust too! I have since sold the car and parts a few years ago, but I sure do miss it. Here's a pic:

What size tires are you going to get? I wouldnt put them on stock suspension, you're getting 19's, do it right and drop it an inch or 2.

How much does a drop cost

How much do you want to spend?. If you just want to do springs, like I did, the springs cost $180 and I installed myself, droped it about 1.5". However, these springs had close to the same spring rate as the stocks, so I didnt need to change out the struts. They were Tanabe NF210's. If you go with any others, you might want to consider some better struts, like Koni yellows...

Now, if you want to change out the struts as well, I would go with Tein basic coilovers, which are fully height adjustable. About $700...Or you can go with the Tein flex coilovers that have an electronic damping controler, so you can set the damping hard or soft from inside the car. About $1400...

Good eye! It was a gift from a friend. Very recent addition to be honest. For some reason I feel a little ricey with that on BUT during next summer I plan on getting the full JDM Honda Inspire front conversion- hood, grill, bumper, fogs, and the Mugen lip.

I thought about getting the Inspire headlights but I convinced myself that for 1g I could do a retrofit with projectors and have better light output than just reflector HIDs.

Plus they'd actually light up the right side of the road...how about the JDM taillights?

moistener
09-03-2006, 06:13 PM
You're correct about the flare hitting oncoming traffic due to the RHD placement. The JDM taillights/Hybrid taillights is something I wanted to add but the dearlership quoted me $320USD for each taillight lens. I wasn't prepared to pay nearly $700 just for having a different colour in the turn signal lens. I know you can get it much cheaper if you buy online but I would have to deal with customs and brokerage fees when the parts cross the boarder into Canada.

one thing i never understand about these sorts of mods is why do they always come off looking like someone glue some extra pieces onto the car?

if i had a good editor here, i'd point out what i'm referring to. but it's always bothered me with these mods. things look tacked on instead of as if they are part of the car. a true good mod in that repsect would blend right in with the car and leave people unable to point out where the oem car body ends and the add ons begin.....

ie-the back lip~it looks like it's slapped onto the bumper. a good clean mod would look like it was the bumper, not a tacked on piece.

the side skirts stick out too much from the shell of the car to look clean and like they are meant to be there. they look like you almost added side step things you would see on an suv or pick up truck. this is best seen on the last pic. it doesn't look as bad from a head-on side view.

not to mention, when you follow the lines from the front lip around to the side and eventually to the back, nothing lines up. it breaks up any sort of flow on the car.

i know it's an individual taste thing, but if someone could please explain what the draw and ooing and ahhing over tacked on body parts is, please by all means clear it up for me! i'm sure guys like fake boobs when they're in the water filled pushup bra behind a cleavage revealing shirt, but aren't ya the least bit disappointed when the clothes are removed to reveal a tiny, barely there chest? atleast someone going all the way to implants is going to look the same in a shirt and out of it (though the feel still ain't going to be real). catch what i mean here? blending is key. tacking on comes across as, well, tacky.

stevel
10-25-2007, 11:30 AM
so removing badges = clean. yet adding body panels to the bottom of the car that are just tacked on, adding additional lines where they fit is also "clean"?

man, I must be old.

I know exactly what you mean, they don't flow well. I have said that so many times.

I have to admit though, this is one of the better ones I have seen though. Still not my style though.

Aside from anysia's boob rant (), I see what you guys are saying, though I don't really agree with it. For instance, I think that the 03-05 coupe lip kits look really, really nice. The lines flow into one another through the kit, and it adds a little complexity to the car. I can kind of see what you are describing on this car, and the 06-07 coupes, as the lip kits don't really line up with the rest of the car's lines, and eachother the way that they should. I still think that the accord looks better with the lips than without, regardless of the design of the lip.

I think I tend to see the overall shape of the car more than the tiny lines that most people will not even notice. It's different when you own the car as you are familiar with the parts and how they are connected, so you know they are tacked on.

There are a lot of cars that come stock with lines like that, where the lower edge looks similar to how the accord looks with the lips (corolla s, some trim of the new camry, either current gen or last gen civic, I can't remember, I am sure there are more), and those cars look good to me, and I don't notice the seams even though I know they are there (I am not sure how those body panels are attached to the bumper though) unless I make a special effort to look for them.

just trying to put it in a perspective that makes sense to some males' minds! and i guess it works to catch attention too. :lmao:

it still boggles me as to why as we yearn for smoother sleeker looking cars, we stick more stuff on them to take them back in time and add more complexity and roughen up that smooth/sleek look. :dunno:

to achieve the same look of a lip or skirt, why not replace the entire bumper with a new one that is in one piece? even if you still leave a "bump out" akin to what you acheive at the point where the lip meets the original bumper, it would still look less tacky, less like you stuck something onto the car. it would look more like an attempt to adjust the lines of the car to match an ideal you have. it would admittedly be a mod that i still wouldn't like because i tend to prefer au natural.... but this would be an acceptable way to achieve the same desired look of the lip and leave the "tacked on" appearance out. it would just keep things flowing and "smooth" and only alter the lines.

Love the rims, not so much the body kit. This thread is so old and the guy doesn't even post on here anymore.

just trying to put it in a perspective that makes sense to some males' minds! and i guess it works to catch attention too. :lmao:

it still boggles me as to why as we yearn for smoother sleeker looking cars, we stick more stuff on them to take them back in time and add more complexity and roughen up that smooth/sleek look. :dunno:

to achieve the same look of a lip or skirt, why not replace the entire bumper with a new one that is in one piece? even if you still leave a "bump out" akin to what you acheive at the point where the lip meets the original bumper, it would still look less tacky, less like you stuck something onto the car. it would look more like an attempt to adjust the lines of the car to match an ideal you have. it would admittedly be a mod that i still wouldn't like because i tend to prefer au natural.... but this would be an acceptable way to achieve the same desired look of the lip and leave the "tacked on" appearance out. it would just keep things flowing and "smooth" and only alter the lines.

Yah, that is one alternative. However, given the way that most aftermarket body kits look (horrible and cartoonishly gawdy), I think I'd rather go with a lip. If they made a body kit that was similar to how the lines flow with the lip kit, then I would snatch it up in a hurry.

Man, some of you guys are too conservative on here, if it's not OEM you don't like it. Next to the OEM kit, this has to be the simplest and cleanest looking kit you can get for the Sedan. Well, I guess actually there isn't an OEM Sedan kit. It's not like he put on huge ugly spoilers or a widebody kit, now that's tacky.

I know this thread is old and the guy doesn't have the car anymore. But, anyways, one way to clean up the rear of the car would be to have that rear lip molded onto the rear bumper to get rid of that seam that goes around the entire rear bumper. I had Mugen sides and rears on my 00 Prelude and had the rears molded to my bumper for a much cleaner look.

Exactly...I like stuff like that when I was in my teens. I am not into the big wheels and plastic that almost touches the ground anymore. I am by no means old either...Only 27, I think I grew up about 7 or 8 years ago.

The guy hasn't been on here in like a year and doesn't even own the car. That's my understanding, people just randomly see his car and start posting on a dead thread again.
