: Door sill plates?
grabom 08-02-2006, 07:38 PM I am interested in getting custom door sill plates for a 2006 Accord sedan. One person on ebay is selling 2 types that seem to stick on to the car's own sill. Does anyone have these and how good are they? The item # on ebay is 330014142210. These have raised lettering. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks MIKE
Anzial 08-02-2006, 09:17 PM Something like "door-step garnish"?

I don't have them, but I saw'em on someone else's car :D They look nice. Get'em here (http://www.collegehillshonda.com/honda_accord_4dr_accessories/06_07_accord_import.htm):
Conundrum 08-03-2006, 02:59 AM wow...over $200 just for that. I like they way they look...however I'd never pay that for a few pieces of metal trim...
Anzial 08-03-2006, 09:02 AM yeah, I wouldn't pay $200 for them either :D but they sure look damn nice even though they don't cover all of the original step. :D
gatrhumpy 08-03-2006, 11:19 AM I got some chrome plated door sill covers for $24 off eBay.

Yeah, but did it say "Accord" on'em?
grabom 08-03-2006, 03:12 PM You probably got them from the same person in Canada who is selling them. They have been selling on average about 20-30 dollars. You said you have them? How are they? Do they stick well to the original sill. I do not want to waste my money if they are made real cheap. The chrome ones for $200 look awesome and I would be tempted to buy them, but I am saving my money for another layer of tint on my rear windows. The weather here in the northeast has been brutal and want to block out as much of the sun as possible and also protect rear speakers from UV. I have 35% all around now. My original post has the item number for the ebay auction, take a look and tell me what you think. MIKE

Hi. I have very similar door sills on my 05 Accord. They are the same shape except they don't have blue Accord lettering but chrome. I'm not home right now but if i get home i will take same pictures for you. I got mine from different seller, some guy from Hong Kong. Sticky tape on the back ****s. I had to buy my own in local hardware store. Front door sills had perfect fit. Back door sills were little bit smaller then factory, so in order for me to stick them on i had to sand down factory sills little bit. About the look: They look great, very easy to clean but also very easy to scratch. Oooo and i paid $35 with shipping for mine. I will post pictures later on...
gatrhumpy 08-07-2006, 04:43 AM Yeah, but did it say "Accord" on'em?
Sure does! They are made of metal and come with double-sided sticky tape on the back, which have worked like a charm on my car. Awesome stuff!
Azn_Rice_Man 08-21-2006, 06:27 PM Anyone know if there is one that's specific to the Coupes?
grabom 08-26-2006, 02:44 PM I see these door sill plates on ebay and want to know if anyone has these or similar ones on their car and if so, post a picture so I can see it. Also want to know how well made they are and how well they stick to existing sill.

^couple more pics in his tread...was gonna post just the door sills, but the car looks to good
mnkyman 10-14-2006, 05:45 PM ^ahh to big of a post
ok...
couple questions...dont the door sills seem a little ..off color? cause it seems like there light greenish blue...are they LEDS? as in could i just suater in a new color..also where are they plugged in? are they linked to the door lights so that they turn on when you open the door?
did you use a paint set for painting your calipers? if so which one..looks better than most jobs that ive seen
the blue leds inside your car make it a little ricey...(but then again i havent actually seen it outside of the pictures..so they might look good)
as for the crome pillars, they look REALLY good on the back door (that little part), but the ones in the middle give it a nissan look...iono..for some reason i really dont like nissan
in the end....NICE JOB ON THE MODS
Bluek24a4 10-14-2006, 10:39 PM Thanks a lot for posting that on here, I wanted to do it but the link wasnt working right. Also, thanks for the compliments.
As for the pillars, Ive since gotten my windows tinted with 20%, and the chrome pillars look much better on there now. I almost regretted putting them on before my tints were put on.
I was also iffy about the blue lights in the car, but after seeing them at night when unlocking the car and it lights up blue, I dont think they are ricey and like them a lot. Even my dad likes them, which lets me know they are in no way ricey.
The paint on the calipers is actually a kit offered from duplicolor that I bought in my local R&S Strauss store. I will try and find the kit online.
The kit can be found here:
http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html
It was actually a really good kit, came with everything. The blue on the box and on the website is a very light blue, when I opened my can it was much darker (what I wanted) and it came out exactly as pictured in the pics.
Now back on topic, the door sills are a blue-green color, which I really didnt like at first, but I have come to apprepicat them because they break up the full blue and stand out more, which is a nice touch. It is a Led, but I dont think you can just solder in another color Led. I cant confirm this, because when looking at the other side of the doorsill, it was 3m taped over to stick the light on there. I picked these up on ebay for about $70 shipped. I do have them wired in to the front door lights, which works really well except for the fact that the back door ones dont go on unless the front door is also open. I am fine with this for now because my back doors are rarely open unless the front ones are too, plus I plan on putting lights in the back doors, and when I do I will rewire the back door sills to those.
I think that should answer all the questions. Thanks again to mnkyman for hte compliments and posting the pics.
mnkyman 10-15-2006, 10:33 AM np..
as for installing the door sills to link to the front doors..did u have to wire that or was there like a molex connector or something that u just hooked it to?
Bluek24a4 10-15-2006, 12:21 PM I spliced and soldered them into the wire that runs the power to the door light.
mnkyman 10-15-2006, 04:56 PM hmm...seems simple enough once youve found which wire it is..
did u just run the wire under the door seal?
do u think you can get a pick of your car from the outside in the dark..like a good pick?
oh ya i was gonna add..i also like how you painted the tires air caps
mech_e 10-15-2006, 05:05 PM I'm assuming their not, but are the front door sills for the 4dr the same as the sills on the coupe? I really like the chrome look, but can't find any coupe versions.
I'm not sure about the difference in size but when I get a chance when I get home I can measure the door sill of my front door on my sedan if you want. I mean, the stock sill I can do, I'm not sure if youre looking for the measurement of the stocker or the ebay pieces.

I bought them painted, they were dirt cheap at Walmart.
I will try and get a better pic for you and my profile.
Yes the wires are ran under the door seal and plastic pieces.
After reading about this topic on the other forum, it seems that the coupe and sedan door sills are different in size.
mnkyman 10-17-2006, 01:30 PM i watched dupilicolors "how-to" video
and they said that you should be about 2 coats of paint on
did u put to coats? or 1 thick coat? ..seems like yorus are the best results ive seen so far
also..did u paint both your front and back calipers? can only see front wheels in pics
thanks

I did about 3 coats on every caliper. I did front and rear, left and right. 3 coats seems to be the trick, my friend did his with red and 3 coats each at the same time I did mine and his came out really nice too.
As a side not, even after 12 coats of paint alltogether, I would say out of the 11 ounce can, I used maybe two. They give you A LOT of paint.
mnkyman 10-17-2006, 06:39 PM did u paint hte backside of the caliper as well??
tape of all of the rotor parts?
have any problems with paint dripping onto the rotor or anythign?
as for hte quality of the paint..what did u think about it...i mentioned painting my calipers with duplicolor paint to my cousin..and he said he highly disliked that brand(but then again he wasnt using this kit..or even painting calipers)
(i have no clue how it is...as ive never used dupilicolor)
im thinking however..that my cousin is just being stupid..although he knows much more than me about cars...i dont hte he realizes all the facts
Bluek24a4 10-17-2006, 07:19 PM Just wondering, what color are you looking to paint your calipers?
The paint quality was better then I could have asked for. I was worried about it fading after the brakes are repeatedly warmed up a lot in the stop and go traffic I have to go through on my way to school in the morning. I perosnally really like duplicolor paint a lot. I did mask off the immediate area of the rotor next to the caliper. I wasnt worried about the pads, since they will eventually be replaces, so the one little drop on one of them doesnt bother me one bit. I didnt paint the very backside of the rotor (at least I dont think I did) but I did more then you would ever be able to see even with the rim off, so with it on all you see is the nice blue. I dont know if you ever looked at your calipers, but theyres 2 little black boots on each of them made of rubber, so I masked them off just in case. I can personally say that the red and the blue look really good, and the other color I saw was silver which is the one color that I dont think they could really have messed up. If you get the blue though, make sure when you open the can its not a light blue, unless thats what you want. I will take up close pics of my calipers and paint for you tomorrow. Sorry for the long post, im trying to give you as much detail as I can.
mnkyman 10-17-2006, 08:12 PM dont be sorry, i love detailed posts
im thinking of doing mine in red (silver car, silver rims (lol brake calipers are silver too)
i want something to stand out without taking away from the car itself...the best color i can think of would be red
as for painting them..
i know theres like...2 pieces on either end of hte big part (sorry ..im not so good at all the stuff there is with cars..as this is my first one.)..but i am a modder in spirit(modded out my pc...but thats much easier than doing anything with a car)
..do u know if you get paint on the break bads or anything if that would effect its performance..and inturn make it unsafe?
as for painting it only partially (like the visible part and not the back) ..could that cause peeling?
my cousin was saying that if you dont paint it all it will rust...but the thing is that you still have the factory coat of paint (silver in my case) under the painted caliper..cause its not like your sanding it down
best shots i have of my wheels (ill try to get a better one tomorrow)

the red still looks the best...
black and silver woudl just be useless..cause they wouldnt be noticible
and to the admin that delted them ..you dont have to be an ass..i know the image rules...they were on there oversized for all of a minute..while i went and resized them
BenjiBoy650 10-17-2006, 08:35 PM Be an ass? I saw that they were oversized and I deleted them. It doesn't matter how long they were up, I'm not a psychic and I don't know your intentions...I did what I needed to do based on what I saw :thumbsdow
mnkyman 10-17-2006, 09:09 PM lol, i apologize for this one...:headbash:

Bluek24a4 10-18-2006, 10:33 AM I cant see how the paint would cause rust, if anything the paint will prevent rust. My calipers werent painted from the factory like yours are. I also have a 2004 and you have a 2006. If I was you and I was going to paint them, I would deffinitly go red or a darker blue then what you photoshopped in. I think silver and black just makes it look cleaner, but colors like red and blue really stand out. Silver would be especially usless in your case since you already have silver. I have to look at a new Accord when I see one again and look at its calipers. I painted most of my caliper, I probably did paint almost all of it. Ill check next time the wheel is off. I feel bad now because this is a door sill thread, so any other questions, make a new thread, ask me in my profile, or my AIM screen name is Secam3.
Any other questions about the door sills I will glady answer.
mnkyman 10-18-2006, 12:21 PM those colors are the exact colors from the duplicolor site
lol ok..
about them door sills..lol
if i were to get one..i would prolly change the lights..that light blue is such an akward color
TCHondatoy 11-14-2007, 12:56 PM Ebay is the way to go for the chrome door still plates!!!! I bought mine for 20 bucks. All four of them! The stick on with some 3M tape that runs the lenght of the plate and I made sure they stuck on when I put them on and they have been on with no problem for over a year!
