My biggist and only real fear is needles. I hate them to the point death is preferable to a IV.

Ive got some health issues that need to be addressed. Need some dental work done. Have a hernia that needs fixed and Ive had some chest pains here and there.

Funny thing is being stiched on dosent bother me one bit. Not a problem. But come at me with a shot or IV and I loose it. I wish I would or could pass out! Im sure I would live longer if that was the case.

My fear and dislike of hollow needles extends even into death. I want to be cremated. No way in hell is some embalmer going to drain blood out and pump me full of other stuff and stab me to fill cavitys and such. Last thing my body will endure is heat and fire. Not needles and cold stainless steel.

I used to fear needles big time! I'd pass out at blood tests everytime! In fact I did pass out for the blood test to get our marriage license.

Then about 5 years ago I was put on a med that required blood work every 5 weeks. At first I went our, then I just needed a hand to hold on to, then a body nearby, then just go with me.... now I can do it all alone & no fainting!! I can even get flu shots!!

I still don't like to hear about them.... like the grumsome details when Crystle was having to have multiple shots to try & get pregnant.... She ejoyed seeing me squirm!!

I also used to pass at the dentist.....every time! I had them change the numbing agent to the one with epinephrin (sp?) in it & that helped!! So now if I have someone hold my hand so I can squish it & never actually see the needle.... I can do it. The regular numbing stuff makes my heart race even more.... making me shocky.

The only IVs I've had was while giving birth.... they insisted. It took them 30 minutes to talk me into it the second round since that was the only part that hurt the first time!! I'm not kidding.....I had near painless, drug-free child birth! :D

I wish there'd been more spaces....

I would've added parenting....it's scary too!! :paranoid:

My biggest fear is snakes. I freaken hate them.

job, feeling it won't be there is one of my biggest fear, cuz that can lead to a downward spiral to emptyness and nothing to acquire if you have no job. Job = money. Money = fun.

It might sound cheesy, but I fear the growing trend of Americans who don't take responsibility for their actions..

Just think about it. 50 years ago, deals were made on a handshake and you could trust your neighbor. Now look at society and kids. Everyone will cheat to get where they want in life w/o thinking about it. They lie like it’s a part of everyday life and have no remorse for their actions.

I fear the day when we can't do anything without looking over our shoulders.

I have no fear of spiders or snakes.... :dunno:

stevencrosbie, I agree....there was a nice security about the old kind of trust. SOME of it comes from not really knowing our neighbors & since we don't, we need to lock our doors.... The majority is the lack of teaching the kids to be respectful & honest. I blame the rewording of our constitution. It says "freedom OF religion" not freedom FROM it. It was written to make sure there was never a state religion & became much different. With taking all religion out of normal life the there's no reason to be honest or trustwothy. Instead of the government staying out of any religious decisions, they mandated some....like removing showing ANY kind of religious action in public because of the noisey manority.

OK, I'm off that soapbox...... :paranoid:

I really believe in the old adage "There's nothing to fear but fear itself."

I do believe a little paranoi is good - it's keeps you on your toes and the adrenline flowing. It never hurts to be cautious.

But to let a fear prevent you from traveling, or moving to a new city, or addressing health problems is not productive and ironically can hurt you more than the fear itself. I know it can be difficult to think logically in some situations and objectivity is not always a luxury but that's when you need to really look into yourself and see what you're made of - acknowledge the problem and muster the willpower and the moxy to overcome it.

I've thought a lot abot the different fears listed in the poll over the last few months - I've moved to a different city, lost my job (though I left of my own Accord - pun intended :D - before they dismantled the company), overcame a number of health problems, searched for a new job, drove across the country to Alaska despite the fact we could have been stranded in BFE somewhere (or eaten by a grizzly while camping :paranoid: ), took a 6 hour flight back home amidst a "red condition," relocated to a new city, ... to name a few things. I worry about loved ones but know I can't protect them 100% of the time - to quote a line from Finding Nemo - If you don't let nothing happen to them how will anything happen to them?

There's not much to fear besides fear itself and what it can prevent you from doing. I guess on that note, I fear not being able to act appropriately in a given scenario.

That's my rambling 2 cents. :lmao:

I fear being alone.

I'm afraid of spiders and pain, but being alone is my biggest fear.

I LIKE being alone.... even before computers... I loved the school year when all the kids were in school & my prince was at work. Ahhh....peace & quiet!!

A dreamy day was a book by the fireplace in the Winter.....

I'm NEVER really bored. My brain races, coming up with plans & ideas all the time. I've sketched out my "dream home" several times. Made lists of what I'd do with lotto winnings. New pyramids for my prince to build. Plan dream vacations.

I'm not saying I wouldn't feel lost if my prince disappeared on me.... but it would be the alone part, it would be the missing him part. Does that makes sense?
