View Full Version : Increase Awareness of this board
What do you think we have to do in order to increase awareness of this board. These types of forums can be extremely helpful to others as long as there is enough interested parties.
The Accord has always been one of the best selling vehicles in the states so I would imagine that once people knew about this, it could become a very active board.
There just isn't the activity level that you would like to see. Are there other boards stealing its thunder?

This was in another thread and I thought it deserved it's own thread. I have been wondering this very thing. How do we get the word out about this board? any suggestions?
I have also posted a message on the Edmunds website that we exist. Any other board suggestions?
Perhaps acuramdx.org or the Pilot. There must be many hiding Honda owners out there.

I've been a member of the Edmunds Accord forums for several years as well as Superhonda, Honda-Acura.net, The Hondabeat and Accordingly Done. I use these boards to stay abreast of Hondas products and to interact with other car people.
What I appreciate about Edmunds is that they have Honda and Independent techs as active members. You can get knowledgable assistance from them. So if you are aware of any Pros on this board, encourage them to be active and to share their qualifications so that others will know their replys are not just "opinions" from an average poster.
Also get your website posted on buying services such as CarsDirect, Autobytel and the like. When people are interested in a particular vehicle, they will use the buying info at that site and also seek out the advise and satisfaction of others who have already purchased that particular vehicle.
Build up your problems/fixes and Aftermarket upgrade databases so as to be a useful link that can be used in other boards.

I was always told that people from dealerships were not allowed on Edmunds for any reason, is this true? I've been working with Honda parts since 1995........

I believe their policy is no solicitation of products, but you are allowed to enter into discussions to share your knowledge. There are many experienced techs and salesmen all over their forums. One much appreciated is a Honda tech with 20 years experience.
So I have to believe Edmunds allows their presence. Everyone from dealership managers, sales people, techs, car detailers and tire people are everywhere over there.
Tim, what's up with Honda using Fram (cardboard) filters. I much prefer the Filtech OEM filter, but it's just about impossible to order a Honda filter over the net and know which one you'll get.

Funny you should mention, I came across ONE WHOLE CASE of 30 Filtech filters here yesterday. I don't know if I'll get any more, but I'm going to sell the whole case in one shot for 139.50, or 4.65 per.

I've been looking for a board like this for a while now. Thanks to a link from HONDACURAWORLD I found it. :D I subscribe to the ODYCLUB forums and learned alot about vehicle maintenance and mods for my van. I hope to get the same kind of information for my Accord from this forum.
To increase traffic to this board, I would arrange reciprocating links with ODYCLUB.

Has this site been submitted to any search engines yet? It still has no activity.
It might be a good idea, by default, to make all forums display the last 60 days. Some new users may be entering discussions and seeing very little activity at the 30 day interval, moving on without bothering to register.
Once activity increases, than you might adjust this downward.

I have set the forums to display all threads regardless of time and yes I have submitted to search engines.
I've also just started a Honda Direct forum with Honda Service bulletins. This might bring people in and have them return. There is a lot of info, so it will take some time to get it online.

Wardsweb...I just browsed thru the Honda Direct forum. This is a very useful thread. Thanks.
Just wanted to bump this up to the top.
I have noticed that activity has picked up recently, but I still think it could be better.
Any ideas people?
Perhaps we could get some window stickers. Just something small, like they have for honda-pilot.org. May attract people who would otherwise have no knowledge of the board.
Let's get the creative juices flowing!

I really do have to start coming around more often :)
Once the community end grows, I think that won't be a problem. The more we're around, the more it feels like "home" :)

I posted some links over on cordclub. Hopefully some will hop over for a look. That's a fairly active board with a good mix of older and recent accord posters in attendance.
Your "Factory Direct" board makes a great link for this site.
Like was said in the Movie..."build it (informational boards) and they will come".
Maybe a crosslinking opportunity ???
Both Texas based.

Hi guys. I think you have a great site. I am very active in a Ford truck site that has over 45k members. Really great place to get good info and experences. Having tech. people join in is the best way to get more traffic. Several dealer wrenches on the other site as well as independent techs and people really respond to the knowledge base. Still have to think that time will build this site to eventually be great place to network. I know I enjoy it

Hey Hondacuraworld what do you think about a "Ask the Tech" section? That is if you or any techs at your place would be willing to answer some basic questions. You know stuff like, "there is a knocking in my front end, when I turn the corner, what might that be?" and NOT stuff like, "how do I rebuild the CV joint in my front end."

Works for me, I'd be glad to do it :)
